Openly lesbian Houston Mayor Annise Parker has won re-election by a margin that narrowly avoids a runoff with the far distant second place finisher. While all precincts have not reported at this writing, the Houston Chronicle is calling her the winner with 50.8% of the vote. Her top three challengers all only garnered about 15% of the vote each.

The Houston Fire Department has determined that the fire that destroyed a small gay-friendly church on Friday was deliberately set.
