Linda Harvey: Halloween Is A Depraved Gay Holiday And My Ouija Board Proved That Satan Is Behind It

Anti-LGBT activist Linda Harvey writes for World Net Daily:

You’ve probably noticed that a cultural revolution is in full swing, engineered largely by promiscuity promoters and “LGBT” advocates. It’s based on deception, depravity, subterfuge, endless dirty tricks and no treats. So is it any wonder Halloween is their favorite, special holiday? It’s one more reason this event is something for concerned families to avoid.  America’s recent exaltation of Halloween as a festival second only to Christmas owes a lot to promotion by homosexuals and their new favorite comrades – gender-confused males and female.

I am not a curmudgeon. I appreciate a good party like anyone else, and when I was a little girl in my pre-Christian youth, I loved Halloween. But I recall an eerie sense even then that Halloween was unusually captivating, and not in a good way. When I was 14, I had my own bizarre encounter with the enemy spirit world by experimenting with a Ouija board. Since my parents were Episcopalians, I received no warnings of spiritual danger because at that time, they lacked a mature, informed level of faith.

But when my friend and I asked the “board” questions, some unseen force pushed the pointer around. At times, our fingers were hanging on for dear life as it flew around the board, often spelling out messages. I had little biblical background to understand what this presence surely was. Now, I can only thank God for mercifully protecting me from being drawn more deeply into this spooky and alluring world where the unseen has real, tangible power.

Hasbro needs to check their production line for demons if this is what it gets us.

Hasbro has fully shielded their line, I’m quite certain. 🙂

    • Stogiebear

She’s a Cunticus Maximus demon. Behold and quiver!

Linda, love, it was your dear little subconscious telling you that you’re evil by spelling out evil things. They do that.

Strangely, when I use one, I get curmudgeonly messages that don’t put up with any bullshit. Total shocker, I’m sure.

The old Ouija board trick and the swinging ring trick are quite well-understood. But you, an anti-science twat, haven’t read that. Pity. Well, I don’t have any pity for you, but it is what’s commonly described as a pity. Personally, DIAF for all I care.

If you haven’t seen “Beautiful Thing” I recommend it. One of the characters is obsessed with Mama Cass so she is always singing her songs and of course the soundtrack has several of her songs in it including “Make Your Own Kind of Music.”

        • olandp

I’m a big old queen, of course I’ve seen it!

Edit: I also know that it was between Cass and Barbra Streisand for the role in “I Can Get It For You Wholesale”, which Barbra won. Makes you wonder doesn’t it…

The first gay movie I remember watching

        • BillyDee4

Cass reportedly was asked if she felt like she was a role model. She supposedly said, “I did for the fat girl what Streisand did for the ugly girl.”

        • Oscarlating Wildely

Heard the song, thought of the film and the scene of them running in the forest as this song plays, and then that ending: Go ahead, fuck with her kid. She’ll claw your eyes out and feed them to you for breakfast.

      • David Walker

Thank you. Years after this song ran its radio course, my sister told me that whenever she heard the song, she thought of me. “Make Your Own King of Music” took on a new luster. If brother and sister can have an “our song,” that’s it.

      • Robincho

If Mama Cass had just given Karen Carpenter that ham sandwich, they’d BOTH still be alive today. (too soon?)…

OMG Linda!!! Did the board spell out “you’re a gullible twat?” Cause that i would believe.

  • Dirk Prophet

One more reason to celebrate Halloween.

  • Lars Littlefield

OT: George Lakoff, U. C. Berkeley, is doing a nice job of analyzing Trump’s bully behavior, explaining the ways which Trump manipulates everyone and everything. “He’s not a baby. He’s not an innocent. He’s a manipulative sociopath.” He’s identified four types of tantrums Trump uses to obfuscate and get his way with making lies suddenly the truth. Trump is obviously a master at NLP (neural linguistic programming). Very interesting analysis. Lakoff suggest using the simple interference of ignoring Trump, not get upset with him, and constantly challenging Trump’s behavior as not of the people, by the people, and for the people as a means of extinguishing what power Trump has. Interesting.

    • kelven

Trumplethinskin may use some NLP techniques but he would be considered a bumbling amateur by the experts in the field. He can’t even establish rapport with most people which is considered beginning level. He is a bully who has learned techniques for manipulating people and not much more.

      • Lars Littlefield

LOL! I should have upped the snark in my comment. I regard NLP to be one of the biggest frauds of the flow and glow crowd to come out of the kate 20th Century. Because it has readily been widely discredited scientifically I just assumed it was obvious I was trying to make a funny. But alas, I seem to have failed. Well, tomorrow is another day

    • RoFaWh

That term is usually written “neurolinguistic programming”.

      • Lars Littlefield

What ever. Doesn’t really matter. It’s still fakery however it is spelled.

    Linda, you ignorant slut…

There’s something fundamentally wrong with this woman. She is mentally ill.

    • ByronK

There’s a part of me that always thinks, oh, come on, she must be putting this shit on. How can anyone be so fucked up in the head that they believe this silliness. But more and more, I’m thinking, yup, serious cases of mental illness.

      • I can see how you would think that, but I’m from East Texas and I can tell you that at least some of them are for real.

        • ByronK

          Eeeek! 😉

  • kelven

Ah, yes. The annual rending of garments and gnashing of teeth. Christianists always throw a temper tantrum around this time of the year because they can’t stand that Halloween continues to grow in popularity despite all their dire warnings. Even all of the more popular Christian religions accept it as a secular holiday that is mostly harmless fun. But Linda and her ilk will never be happy unless everyone else is as miserable and anal retentive as they are.

    • I loved Halloween as a kid. Free candy and a little cosplay. What wasn’t to like? (I loved my Batman costume!)

I actually understand gay priests more than gay laity. The priesthood was a ruse to hide why a gay man would not need to explain why he was unmarried. Unfortunately, the priesthood also became the refuge of pedophiles. (Like Protestant youth pastors.) The gay laity is baffling. Apart from the whole “how can you possibly believe that bullshit?” thing, the hypocritical hostility to the lives and mere existence of gay people. Remember “intrinsically disordered”?

Writing a bitchy petty complaint column while simultaneously claiming “I am not a curmudgeon !”

When I’m age 93, I implore all reading here to permit me to touch their asses inappropriately.

      Male or female.

Alzheimer’s runs in my genetic line; if I make it to 93, odds are I won’t know the difference.

      • RoFaWh

I wish I knew with certainty that I’ll live to 93 (another nineteen years and three weeks, as it happens).

That’s long enough to raise a cat from kittenhood and see it through to its final days.

Your comments on this blog, RoFaWh, reveal you to be young at heart and spirit. Something we all strive for.

I’ve mentioned (about a million times- sorry) my love of Halloween. I found one of my homemade decorations, a scene from Sleepy Hollow. It involves 2 cylindrical glass candle holders, a transparency made on the ink jet, and tracing paper or vellum.

It’s in pretty bad shape. The transparency has faded so you can’t see the blue night sky or the jack o lantern, the vellum was torn so I did a quickie tracing paper repair… but here it is.

Why does this “good Christian woman” have a fucking Ouija board? Shouldn’t she be trusting her good Lord to make things right?

Burn the witch at the stake!

  • O/T: Here is an explanation and an apology I can accept.
    https://twitter.com/mattdpearce/status/923334395007713282

    • I’m also of an age where a particular gesture in a particular setting could be seen as merely unwelcome or inappropriate w/out rising to the level of sexual harassment or assault.

There are degrees. And it can and does belittle the experience of being raped when an unwanted ass-pat is made equal. Both are wrong. One is way more so.

      • Sam_Handwitch

        well there’s unwelcome/inappropriate vs threatening/violent

and i’ve been in both situations and its all skeevy.

but i’m left wondering if someone griped to GHW!

        • Yes, a woman came forward and said GHWB ‘sexually assaulted’ her during a photograph and harassed her by telling some joke he apparently often tells.

          • To be clear: GHWB needed to stop doing what he was doing. He needed to realize his joke could be seen as offensive and sexist. And he needed to apologize in a NOT “sorry if your feelings were hurt” way.

But what he’d been doing in no way rises to what Trump’s been accused of doing. Or Cosby. Or Weinstein.

        • JAKvirginia

O/T: Since this may be the last post for the night, what’d everyone have for dinner? I’m in need of new ideas. Myself, I’m having a crockpot korean beef inspired dish.

    • Home-made chicken soup here.

    • coram nobis

Spanish-style chorizo and rice, a single-pot dish with onions. Serve w/ sliced avocado and tomato on top.

    • bkmn

Instant pot roast pork butt which is currently undergoing another 20 minutes so it will be pulled pork, with mashed potatoes and carrots made with the roast.

      • You have an Instant Pot too? That’s how I made the chicken soup. Love that appliance like no other.

Pressure-cooked potatoes are another favorite, for making seasoned fries.

        • bkmn

I am loving it, though I have not gone off the deep end and used it every day for weeks after getting it. I am hoping to do a whole chicken one of these days.

    • greenmanTN

      Cabbage/potato/carrot/sausage soup. (I had half a head of cabbage…)

      • safari

Do you just throw the potatoes in at the same time as everything else?

        • greenmanTN

I sautéed the cabbage a bit to cook it down (added sausage then too), then the liquid, then potatoes and carrots. No recipe, just refrigerator soup.

      • boobert

A neighbor made that exact thing and gave us some for dinner tonight. It was great!

And what about the Clintons buying butchered human meat from a food distributor located in Mount Kisco? It’s being reported by many people, especially covens in Westchester County who are facing a shortage. And then what about the muffled screams of adolescent sex slaves coming from the Clinton’s basement? Huh? No one is talking about that either. • another_steve

The natural world scares me sometimes.

Man and I live on a wooded property with, apparently, the perfect soil acidity for pachysandra. The boys grow and multiply here like weeds. They create beautiful year-round green oceans, everywhere on our property. It’s one of the few ground covers that are poisonous to deer, so they don’t eat it.

I went online once and priced pachysandra.

Based on that, my husband and I have determined that we’re multi-millionaires, many times over.

      • Treant

        Yeah but…shipping. 🙂

I apparently have the perfect environment for dahlia, marigolds, Melampodium, mealy cup sage, red salvia, ageratum, coleus, roses, lilies, tulips, hyacinth, crocus, daffodils, and a hundred other things.

OK, so I work at it. Still. Once the garden is out, I go through and scatter calcium, a touch of magnesium, and potassium to replace what I took out this year.

        • another_steve

I always enjoy your garden pics, Treant. Lovely. Your eye for nature’s fabulousity is apparent.

Pachysandra isn’t a native plant here in the US and for that reason some ecologists decry its use here. That said, the plant isn’t invasive as some non-native transplants are (it’s not spread by seed or other animal/mechanical means) and its amazing and voracious underground root structure does serve to stabilize the ground and prevent erosion.

          Whatever.

As long as it doesn’t inhabit our septic system and grow out of our toilet bowls and strangle us in our sleep, my husband and I love the thing.

          • Treant

Meh. About 90 percent of what I use is native to the United States (usually much further south than where I live and it won’t naturalize easily). Ten percent? Imports.

Many things naturalize just beautifully without being overly invasive. English lavender, which is not native to England nor to the States, comes to mind. Privet, as well. It’s not an English native, but naturalized beautifully and without being invasive.

Some are questionable. Cleome is native to the United States and Canada, but not this far east. It naturalizes well here, though, to the point where I don’t collect seeds, I just move seedlings around in spring to where I want them.

    • RoFaWh

If you grow dahlias, try saving the seed, sowing it, and seeing what flowers the seedlings have.

I’ve known a couple of people who’ve done this and had very interesting results.

      • Treant

Alas, if I plant Jennifer’s Wedding dahlia, I damned well want Jennifer’s Wedding dahlia. 🙂

Dahlia are octoploidal (eight copies of each chromosome), so yes, the flowers of the daughters are completely unpredictable unless you have hundreds of years of breeding data and very good genetics tests.

I do some from seed–Harlequin dahlia–and accept that you don’t know what you’re going to get in terms of the exact hue. But year by year, I save the developed tubers (those that grow tubers) and save the ones I like.

    • Johnny Wyeknot

Frightening. (I like your umbrella stand.)

      • Treant

In a sane world, all those numbers would be in the single digits.

      • Trump should never have been allowed to be nominated nor to take office…but here we are.

These folks dropping their support aren’t the overt racists and Nazis who are thrilled their boy turned out to be just as racist and Nazi as them. They’re the ones who believed Donald’s lies about being a populist and standing up for them.

        • RoFaWh

The interesting question is: assuming that the country survives Trump without being converted into a latter day fascist dictatorship, how can the Constitution be amended to prevent takeovers by insane criminals again?

          • Reality.Bites

            For starters:

Sane political contribution laws and spending limits.

Federal voter registration and laws governing election for federal office.

            Independent and transparent redistricting process

        • JCF

That’s true of the former. For the white evangelicals, I think it’s the tweets. Just too embarrassing, even for them.

    • Treant

I’m surprised the less-educated has eroded that far, actually.

I’m not surprised at the continued support of the Paulites.

      • Yeah, the evangelicals are comfortable following abject hypocrites.

But the ‘working class’ folks thought Trump really would give them better, cheaper health insurance. Bring back jobs. Raise taxes on the rich and give them breaks. Yadda-yadda.

I also think the “behaving like a demented lunatic” angle has to be costing him support now, too.

        • Treant

It’s actually hard to believe he has support in the high thirties (Fox) if only 56% of the less-educated support him. And only the white ones.

“The hydrogen in your body, present in every molecule of water, came from the Big Bang. There are no other appreciable sources of hydrogen in the universe. The carbon in your body was made by nuclear fusion in the interior of stars, as was the oxygen. Much of the iron in your body was made during supernovas of stars that occurred long ago and far away. The gold in your jewelry was likely made from neutron stars during collisions that may have been visible as short-duration gamma-ray bursts or gravitational wave events. The featured periodic table is color coded to indicate humanity’s best guess as to the nuclear origin of all known elements.”

    • Treant

Cute, but we should point out that a lot of hydrogen is “created” in the final step of fusion of helium-3 to helium-4 during proton-proton fusion in stars of the Sun’s mass or lower (higher than that, the CNO process takes over, which has other considerations).

It did start life as hydrogen before fusing (just like every other element in the Universe) to helium in this case, but 2 atoms of H get released from He-3 upon recombination.

As I increasingly lose urinary control and gradually approach death, I find myself more and more attracted to existentialist philosophies.

I’ve recently read critical analyses of the “traditional” understanding of Sartre’s famous “l’enfer, c’est les autres.” Some claim that the common understanding of it (hell is the presence of others) is deficient. It is, according to them, much more nuanced than that.

This country is even more VILE than even *I* believed likely–PROFOUND pessimist that I am.

I believe it will let children die without healthcare–I mean for YEARS it did, when we were growing up–remember the children of the working poor who, unlike the children of any OTHER advanced democracy, had to BEG for their lives in telethons?

Nothing will get the people of this country into the streets to PROTEST, in massive and relentless demonstrations, because it is an EVIL nation.

More and more, the world will see the U.S. for what it TRULY is–a nation of monstrous FRAUDS.

If you, as a people, don’t get into the streets soon to protest in a BIG way and relentlessly, this democracy is going to DIE.

NO ONE else is going to do it FOR you–your institutions are hopelessly, overwhelmingly CORRUPT. Congress isn’t going to do it, even if it were controlled by the Democrats! The press isn’t going to do it! MUELLER isn’t going to do it!

I believe that, as a people, you’re not going to fight, and you’re going to lose EVERYTHING.

You let them STEAL the election–they will not STOP stealing them. You let them–the media propagandists and the GOP politicians–LIE without denouncing them, aggressively and relentlessly, for what they are! “Journalists” are afraid to stand up for the truth; so are the Democrats! The liars are BOLD; the Republic’s defenders timid and apologetic!

You’re letting them pack the courts with ruthless FANATICS.

I’m sorry–I’ve been watching you for the past 30 years from north of the border, and, in all honesty, from what I’ve seen and what I’m seeing, I no longer believe you have what it takes.

Trump is OBVIOUSLY unfit–he is a proven pathological LIAR. His henchmen have lied repeatedly about their Russian connections. The White House LIES relentlessly about EVERYTHING. NONE of them are held ACCOUNTABLE! The White House press corps does NOTHING as the regime LIES, nonstop, to their FACES!!

Still, the streets are QUIET! You cannot rely on the COWARDLY press, which is more interested in a profitable CIRCUS of “controversies” than it is in defending the truth from lies and democracy from FASCISM! They are NORMALIZING the latter, as they normalized Trump!

The Democrats have more than enough ammunition to use against Trump, to bring him DOWN, but, as always in a battle with the right, they don’t USE the evidence they have, and they let the right set and control the AGENDA! They won’t FIGHT–they are COWARDS, afraid to FIGHT, afraid to show righteous anger against OBVIOUS evil!!

You have no leadership, no one to organize you–and I believe, too, that most of you lack the WILL to fight.

People are mowed down by automatic gunfire in their HUNDREDS, and you do NOTHING! Children are losing their healthcare, and you do NOTHING! The President of the United States is a CROOK and a proven and relentless pathological LIAR, who is deliberately dividing you, DAILY, has repeatedly obstructed an investigation into his behaviour and is undermining the rule of law in myriad other ways, slanders Gold Star families, declares that good people march with NAZIS, is deliberately sabotaging the healthcare of MILLIONS . . .

Why do I go on?! What is the point?!

No matter what he does, you will not FIGHT!!

He is recklessly endangering the peace of the WORLD, and STILL the streets are QUIET.

One of the downsides of American Capitalism is that nuance often takes a backseat to profit. Let’s be honest: The Washington Post, NY Times and LA Times are in it primarily for the buck.

      Brutal, I know.

      But imo true.

      • Everyone here is “in it for the buck”, or you do not get to eat and live. Even if you work as a social worker, you have to worry about making a living. But in a socialist economy with a shared means of production, and government owned media, isn’t it the same? In Cuba, I bet people are “in it for the buck” who are Communist Party members since they get to shop at special stores for special goods- with fully convertible currency. There are whistle blowers though who do put integrity over income. Article on party member privledges in Cuba — http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/cuba/article109730932.html

How do I subordinate my need to pay my rent, feed my kids and pay my medical expenses to the greater societal good?

How do I as a journalist report the truth even if and when it means I’ll be scorned and subsequently sacked?

  • leastyebejudged

“Since my parents were Episcopalians, I received no warnings of spiritual danger because at that time, they lacked a mature, informed level of faith.”

This is not an uncommon story. The fundamentalists have worked hard for decades to destroy the amicable relationships people nurtured, they split up the Episcopal Church, and they tried to steal all the church’s properties in the process.

When you constantly depict religious people and borderline religious people as deserving of contempt, you create two kinds of people – extremists and former religious people that simply disconnect. Those were the people that kept some stability and mitigated the more negative shit. And they’re gone now.

OT: If Linda thinks Hallowe’en is bad, I wonder what she thinks of Disney Channel’s first gay storyline?

    http://www.newnownext.com/andi-mack-disney-gay-storyline/10/2017/

The Disney Channel will undoubtedly ruffle the feathers of One Million Moms this week, when it airs its first LGBT storyline on the series Andi Mack. On the season premiere this Friday, Andi’s friend Cyrus reveals he has a crush on the same boy she does.

The show, produced by Lizzie McGuire creator Terri Minsky, is pretty unusual fare for the kid-friendly channel to begin with: Andi (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) is trying to figure out exactly who she is after discovering her older sister Bex (Lilan Bowden), is actually her mother. Her closest friends are Cyrus (Joshua Rush) and Buffy (Sofia Wylie)—and she’s already got a middle-school crush, Jonah (Asher Angel), who, it turns out, turns Cyrus’ heart to jelly, too.

    • Want to hear a fun story? My friend who grew up Episcopalian (his father was some “auxiliary bishop” if that makes sense) in Colorado is quite the looker and a wiseass. He was talked into going to Catholic confession by his friends in High School. They told him what to say to the Priest (forgive me father, yada yada) and he then proceeded to tell him about all the senior girls he was banging in high school as a junior. The priest thought it was terrible and wanted to know all the details — name, rank, and serial number. My friend said, well, I will not give you that, but the family next door has three daughters and I am regularly “seeing” two of them, and they go to church here. He tells the story so well but the end result was that the priest was both stunned, horrified, and highly scandalized and he thinks amused by the story.

    Leptospirosis in Puerto Rico
    https://www.cdc.gov/leptospirosis/index.html

In humans, Leptospirosis can cause a wide range of symptoms, including:
High fever Headache Chills Muscle aches Vomiting Jaundice (yellow skin and eyes) Red eyes Abdominal pain Diarrhea Rash

Many of these symptoms can be mistaken for other diseases. In addition, some infected persons may have no symptoms at all.

The time between a person’s exposure to a contaminated source and becoming sick is 2 days to 4 weeks. Illness usually begins abruptly with fever and other symptoms. Leptospirosis may occur in two phases:

After the first phase (with fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, vomiting, or diarrhea) the patient may recover for a time but become ill again.

If a second phase occurs, it is more severe; the person may have kidney or liver failure or meningitis. This phase is also called Weil’s disease.
The illness lasts from a few days to 3 weeks or longer. Without treatment, recovery may take several months.

    Treatment
Leptospirosis is treated with antibiotics, such as doxycycline or penicillin, which should be given early in the course of the disease.
Intravenous antibiotics may be required for persons with more severe symptoms. Persons with symptoms suggestive of leptospirosis should contact a health care provider.

That puke scented ‘sour apple’ flavor. I’m made physically nauseas by it.

    • Treant

Candy corn. Candy. Fucking. Corn. Why not just color some wax and fucking shove that in my bag, you cheap-ass candy-giver? Consider yourself lucky I didn’t shit on your porch.

Soap Queen featured a Candy Corn Soap I’ve been dying to try, though it’s only appropriate once a year. And let’s face it, do you have any other choice than Pumpkin Spice?

Yep. It actually looks real, if large.

Mostly because candy corn looks like soap.

A wretched soft candy that came in orange wrappers with Hallowe’en appropriate images in black. I believe it was some sort of molasses taffy, and it wasn’t available any other time of year (a good thing).

Every time some Republican invokes “smaller government,” unchecked corporate power is exactly what they’re replacing democracy with.

        • BobSF_94117

Have you noticed they never say “cheaper government”?

This applies in the U.S., because you WILL bow down to government by GANGSTERS.

          • Skeptical_Inquirer

      2. Type up some mailing labels with Lin-duh’s name and address on them.

The supposed link between “love” and “lust” is a fabrication of institutional religion. Free-thinkers reject that notion.

      • Gretchen

I’m going with triggered emotionally. Absolutely nothing about Linda flips any switches for me…except maybe rage.

Jared being a self-identified “Modern Orthodox Jew” (whatever the fuck that is) is sexually frustrated with his shiksa wife. I sense it, Eddi.

          • And he HAS to have sex with her on Friday night if he is Orthodox — and she is not having a period. It is basically required. A husband MUST satisfy his wife’s urges on the Shabbat. And with pretty Jared a hole in the sheet in not there, I bet.

          • another_steve

Having grown up in Brooklyn NY in a secular culturally Jewish household, I was taught that Orthodox Jewish men fuck their wives through holes in sheets.

To the best of your knowledge, Eddi, is this true or is this Jew urban legend?

My cat moved outside of her own volition. She just packed her dish and decided to live in the big dog’s igloo. Personally, I don’t blame her. I’m thinking about sleeping in the dog igloo too.

    • Not that I am condoning the behaviour — but he is in a wheelchair and apparently slipping in and out of senile dementia.Accept the apology and leave it at that. He is 93. At Kos some are going on and on about this — I would not bludgeon this issue. Some are complaining that an aid, and not papa Bush himself did the apology. He does not go on televsion much these days actually.

      • ultragreen

Yes, that’s true. That probably means he isn’t frisky anymore, although I’ve heard some wild stories about elderly men in nursing homes who are on Viagra.

        • Well, I am always thinking about the next election. I want Bush Republicans to not vote for Bannon endorsed candidates for Congress and the Senate. I have an ulterior motive. Papa Bush actually said he voted for Hillary. That is what is prompting me. Country Club Republicans still revere Papa Bush.

          • ultragreen

The elder Bush also stated that his thinking about marriage equality had changed. He decided it was okay after all.

You KNOW it’s serious because that’s a real grin on Trump’s face.

    • Hate to break it to you fellas around here, but sexual harassment is something nearly every professional woman has experienced at some point in her career.

Yes, even for ‘unattractive’ women. But yeah, it can be worse if one looks nice, as I learned in my late 20s, early 30s.

But here’s the thing. We all know the vast majority of you don’t do it. You’re good men. (Or you’re not into women.) The problem is that one guy in 20 or so who does do it. Some are “just a little bit” inappropriate and boundary-transgressing. Some definitely cross a line they should not be crossing, but do it anyway. And some are outright predators.

The problem? None of them are caught. Or if it’s noticed they’re ‘misbehaving,’ all that happens is, at most, a warning to cut it out but no real consequences.

In a way, the boundary crossers are the worst because their behavior is not seen by many as totally wrong. “Why can’t a guy let a woman he’s working with know he finds her attractive?” “What’s wrong with giving someone a hug?”

That’s Halperin. A man who felt comfortable acting out sexually in a professional work situation, and with women whose careers he was in a position to help or hinder. Not a sexual predator per se, but a man who felt entitled to seek sexual partners from among his coworkers and underlings.

And that’s what makes it sexual harassment.

Female coworker–>friend–>dating–>sexual relationship = Probably not a problem and it includes consent on each step

Female coworker–>sexual relationship = High likelihood of lack of consent, especially if the relationship change from professional to sexual was initiated by the male and especially if he’s in a position of authority over said female coworker

But here’s the real problem: Even when that one guy in 20 is known to be behaving inappropriately, the other 19 guys are mostly inclined to believe him and not the woman. Or they’ll say it’s he said/she said and want it all to go away.

And that’s how someone like Halperin or Weinstein or Allen or Cosby or Trump can get away with a lifetime of sexual harassment with virtually no consequences.

      • Gretchen

I agree with you, but I would like to add that I think there are times women including me have been been so carefully groomed to accept the harassment that we don’t even realize what has happened until things are out of control. Then men give the defense of “well, you never complained before…” By that point our credibility is undermined even in our own minds, and we slink into the shadows without pursuing justice for ourselves. We allow our own self-doubt to keep us from pushing to have these predators held accountable. This a multi faceted problem that is going to take both men and women to identify and stop sexual harassment in the workplace.

        • EXCELLENT point! Totally true, too.

They hang on as long as they can. Here in Phoenix the fall growing season is getting started. There’s another season in the spring. Over the summer you can count on tomatillos, okra and cucumbers to survive, but not much else. It’s a whole different world.

  • OT- I did not know that Democratic Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema from Phoenix, who is probably going to run for Senator from Arizona, is bi and proudly LGBT. She is doing very well in polls to replace Jeff Flake. BTW she is not a leftist Democrat, she is quite clearly centrist. Larry Sabato and Charlie Cook currently rate Arizona a toss-up. https://www.advocate.com/politics/2017/10/25/bi-congresswoman-kyrsten-sinema-has-real-shot-being-elected-senator

“BTW she is not a leftist Democrat, she is quite clearly centrist.”

Too centrist for some on this board. I think she probably suits her state (i.e., couldn’t get elected—esp when queerly OUT!—if any further to the left). However, I’m not an expert on Arizona politics, and will defer to those who are.

She obviously knows nothing about Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival .(now called Halloween in the rest of the world.).
I resent that this b itch and her fellow c unt Christians took over Samhain (pronounced: “sow-ann”,) and turned it into their holy souls baloney.
    Samhain predates your Christian delusions.

It was always pagan, always bacchanalian, and these new interlopers, the Christians, need to f uck off out of it; it is and always was pagan. It has always been my favourite festival,

Saw that last night. The hubby’s a fan. I have no explanation. I thought it interesting that Ron Reagan should be talking in an impassioned manner about large ideas and had to rebuke Matthews and the others for LAUGHING. The TV opinioneers simply cannot stop giggling about whatever new freak Trump has committed. I can’t watch any of it. The satirical shows are worse. Difficult enough to even read a newspaper. There’s only one story – Trump is bonkers, we’re all screwed – and it’s been going on since the election.

I’m fairly certain that this country has far bigger problems than LGBT people, Linda.

We can start with the economy, healthcare, education, the environment, a rudderless foreign policy, and the fact that we have a demented president who has the nuclear codes.

Please, somebody turn on a light so these roaches will scatter back into the darkest cracks. Halloween has an ancient history. It has pagan roots that were absorbed into what became a Christian time of reverence to honor all dead saints, which included All Saints Day, the night before being known as All Hallows Eve. Linda really should get her “christian” head out of her ass. It could use some fresh air. How in hell did gay people become associated with her twisted version of the day? I can only hope she she checks this site. I would love for her to personally read the insults to her mental incapacity. Get real, shithead.

@LindaHarvey: “America’s recent exaltation of Halloween as a festival second only to Christmas owes a lot to promotion by homosexuals and their new favorite comrades – gender-confused males and female.”

I’m reading through newspaper articles from the 1880s for a book I’m doing on my hometown (Traverse City, Michigan). They had Halloween parties in the 1880s. I guess promiscuous homosexuality has a long history there.

  • Isn’t Halloween becoming everybody’s favorite holiday, now that more and more young people are turning away from the Jesus shit? True, there are no Halloween carols. But people would look ridiculous going door to door all bundled up with scarves and earmuffs and gloves on Halloween. Especially in California. The only people that do door to door any more in California are the ex-Mormons, apologizing for Prop 8.

    • ConnieHinesDorothyProvine

There aren’t any official Halloween carols, but back in 1999 I bought a CD called Elvira’s Haunted Hits. It contained the likes of “Monster Mash”, “Ghostbusters” and a song by the Mistress of the Dark herself. After all, this is the time of year when Miss E talks about her big pumpkins.

    • ConnieHinesDorothyProvine

Something else. Linda Harvey recently demanded that gays stop using the anus as a “substitute vagina”, and proceeded to graphically describe how the anus is a waste disposal system.

I’m no psychiatrist, but it sounds as though she either wants some of the action, or she once fell into a pile of turds and swallowed some of it.

  • cleos_mom

When I was 14, I had my own bizarre encounter with the enemy spirit world by experimenting with a Ouija board. Since my parents were Episcopalians, I received no warnings of spiritual danger because at that time, they lacked a mature, informed level of faith.

I’ve had a few “interesting” experiences with Ouija boards but wouldn’t have one in the house. There’s a certain supernatural dimension that most of us do well to stay away from; I assume there are some exceptions but I’m not one of them.

As for the snide little potshot at Episcopalians, I can only assume they’re not hateful and exclusionary enough for Miz Linda — their Washington Cathedral even conducts same-sex weddings.

    • James

“There’s a certain supernatural dimension that most of us do well to stay away from”

      No there isn’t.

      • cleos_mom

        Believe what you like.

And no; “beliefs and not certainties” are not just for other people, with certainty reserved for yourself.

        • James

“Believe what you like” is the attitude that has landed us all in our current mess. “Believe what the best available evidence and current scientific thinking suggests” are far better words to live by. So, no: there is no “supernatural dimension that most of us do well to stay away from.”

          • cleos_mom

No; “believe what religious authorities tell you” is the attitude that’s created both past and current messes. Your own beliefs are not The One Great Exception; that’s one of the main attractions for the rubes on the midway.

          • James

            That remark made no sense.

    • JCF

Most Episcopal churches and cathedrals do.

FWIW, I played around w/ a Ouija board a bit as a kid. To me, they’re pretty obviously wish-fulfillment, re the “answers” one gets (the protestations “I’m not pushing it!!!” notwithstanding ;-/ ).
