Pastor Rick Wiles: God Punished Houston With Harvey Because They Love “LGBT Sexual Perversion” [AUDIO]

This took longer than usual.

Kyle Mantyla reports at Right Wing Watch:

End Times radio host Rick Wiles used his “TruNews” broadcast yesterday to declare that the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey is God’s punishment for Houston’s “affinity for the sexual perversion movement.”

“This is a proud city that, in recent years, has boasted of its allegiance, its dedication, its devotion to the homosexual/lesbian agenda,” he said. “How’s it working out for them right now?” he asked. “Here’s a city that has boasted of its LGBT devotion, it’s affinity for the sexual perversion movement in America. They’re underwater.”

PREVIOUSLY ON JMG: Rick Wiles declares that Queen Elizabeth is a “satanic lizard person.” Rick Wiles declares that Bill Clinton is dying from a brain disease brought on by cannibalizing children. Rick Wiles declares that God’s love is “oozing” over America thanks to Trump. Rick Wiles prays that Hillary Clinton falls down at the presidential debate. Wiles declares that Satan is using Pokemon to murder Christians. Wiles declares that the “Nazi freaks at Target” will get American destroyed in a nuclear war. Wiles declares that God will murder the enemies of Donald Trump. Wiles declares that President Obama ordered the murder of Antonin Scalia as a human sacrifice to pagan fascism. Wiles declares that gay Nazis control America. Wiles renounces US citizenship because Obergefell. Wiles declares that God will destroy the earth with a “fireball from space” because of gay marriage. Wiles declares that God is killing chickens, bees, and pigs because of gay rights. Wiles declares that God sent the California drought because of gay rights. Wiles declares that Russia will nuke the United States because of gay rights. Wiles says God will destroy America and the survivors will be the “slaves of sodomites.” Wiles says ebola could solve “America’s problem with gays and atheists.” Wiles declares that MSNBC viewers are “demon-possessed fans of the anti-Christ.” Wiles declares that God sent a plague of locusts to Egypt because Obama.

Actually I’ve been told by God, SFM and other deities that it was because they voted for Trump and continue to elect Ted Cruz.

  • Pip

More like Mother Nature punished Houston because it houses most of the greenhouse emissions causing oil and gas in the US.

If we’re just going to throw crazy theories out there.

    • Nowhereman

Rachel Maddow showed some footage from a 1935 flood in Houston–pretty amazing, and that was only from 15 inches.

  • Gustav2

Yes, his deity is saying more Southern Baptists and megachurch goers in the Houston area should be punished.

    • SFBruce

Even if you believe the nonsense that natural disasters are some kind of message from on high, this makes a hell of a lot more sense than the claim that it’s a condemnation of gays. Doesn’t this idiot know that Anise Parker was voted out of office and the people of Houston voted to get rid of what they insist on calling “that bathroom bill?”

      • Gustav2

No, they don’t know. So they still are being punished.

      • McSwagg

LOL!!! Annise didn’t lose any election. She left office because she was term-limited out.

        • SFBruce

You’re absolutely right; thanks for the correction. But my larger point remains: she’s not in office, and the people voted down what they call they call the bathroom bill. If there’s a message in Harvey, it certainly can’t be that Houston and Texas are just too friendly to gay people.

  • Ninja0980

I’m assuming the folks that were all over the asshole professor from Tampa who cheered Harvey red state voters what they deserved will be over this too right?

    • Pat

Just like they were all over Mother Angelica when she said 9/11 was caused by abortion.

  • The_Wretched

One of the christian nut job TV preachers had to do it. Their union requires it. I mean the other option, they are collectively brain-dead magical thinkers who love to hate, couldn’t be true could it?

  • fastlanestranger

These evil Christian opportunists are exactly the kind of people Jesus rose up against in the story, “The Bible”.

    • shellback

Is that a book or a movie? I’ve never heard of it.

      • fastlanestranger

It’s some tween fad book not unlike the “Twilight” series, if my understanding is correct.

  • shellback

Ricky, just be grateful reagan closed the mental institutions, because, you know, you’d be living in one right now.

  • james1200

    That explains those hurricane forecasts!

  • another_steve

I love LGBT sexual perversion too, but get very little of it these days.

    (which may explain my crankiness)

    • Snarkaholic

      There’s always “self service.”

    • james1200
    • vorpal 😼

You still haven’t gotten a bear trap and baited it with a wad of rubles to catch yourself Jared?

      • McSwagg

        “Bear trap” … “Jared” …. ???????
I’ve been gone a couple of weeks. I must have missed something. Did Jared go through a “metamorphosis” or something?

        • vorpal 😼

          Not that I’m aware of…
another_steve is just notorious for his wild lust for Jared. 🙂
Personally, I don’t see it, but to each his own!

      • another_steve

Jared will someday love and obey me.

        Or I’ll punish him.

        • Galvestonian

you mean you’ll ‘correct’ him because he needs ‘correction’, dare I say it, of course he’s a willfull child.

          • another_steve

            Exactly. You understand, obviously.

(How did you and yours fair during the hurricane, btw?)

          • Galvestonian

Really O.K. — Galveston for once didn’t get nailed too badly. I have to straighten up a half a dozen trees in the back yard that were dislocated and we had water that completely flooded the streets up and over the curb and half-way up the front lawn and just touched the rear wheels of the Prius whose front bumper that I had touching the garage door – the wind was friggin’ terrible but poor Houston really got nailed. As a matter of fact Galveston Island was so relatively dry that we actually had many Houstonians seek shelter on the island – the cancellations were over the possible threat to the island – remember that this is in the weeks prior to Labor day and all the hotels were heavily booked – Harvey quickly changed that but with no real flooding in Galveston those whose homes and businesses were under water around Houston found shelter here. The hubby has had problems finding someplace to get dialysis but we’re working that out. Thanks for caring.

          • another_steve

Glad to hear you weren’t devastated.

Your pals here on JMG were thinking of you and yours.

  • The_Wretched

One of the many reasons I’m not a christian – their leaders and TV talking heads are batshit. I prefer leaders who aren’t wrong all the time (looking at you trump, cruz,…all the republicans).

  • Adam Stevens

But, I’m sitting poolside in the bright sun in West Hollywood, where 40% of us are gay men.

    Did god fuck up again?

    • McSwagg

Much like the French Quarter during Katrina, Houston’s Montrose neighborhood escaped the flood during Harvey’s onslaught.

  • bambinoitaliano

God send a giant asteroid as a warning if you don’t stop abusing his power, he is going to hurl at the earth.

  • Treant

That’s so weird! I also love LBGT perversion and engage in it as often as possible.

Yet I’m hurricane-free, although Harvey’s tattered remains might send a shower or two Pennsylvania’s way as it heads out to sea to die.

    • Ninja0980

      Same here.
In fact, the only time we got tornado warnings (a very rare thing) is the day my bigoted State Senator announced he was looking into running for governor.
Wonder if Gawd was trying to tell him and everyone else something.

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

How self centered… it wasn’t just Houston but the rest of East Texas was hit as well. How do you explain the Repukelican Evangelically controlled rest of East Texas? Asswipe.

    • Treant

This “God” is unable to target specifically, apparently. Or, he cannot do spell sculpting as 5e rules specify for the Sorcerer and Wizard.

    • Todd20036

What’s more is that DC is quite the gay oasis, and the most we will get from Harvey is a rainy day.
Not that there is anything wrong with sloppy seconds, mind you.

    • Chris Baker

Facts don’t matter. An area likely to get a hurricane gets hit my a hurricane. A real judgement from God would be a hurricane in Chicago, or a blizzard in Dallas. It’s probably the Republican rural areas that will suffer more since all the focus will be on fixing Houston. Meanwhile, Los Angeles, SFO, NYC, Chicago are all doing fine.

      • McSwagg

        Yeah, Rockport is soooooooo screwed.

  • Rebecca Gardner

Hate wrapped in religion is still hate.
He needs to take the Red Pill and see reality.

  • Jerry Kott

He seems just right for the next Republican Candidate for President of the US. Another republican sound mind?

  • Tawreos

I stubbed my toe the other night on a weird looking rock. It is obviously a sign from god that Rick Wiles has overstayed his time on this planet.

  • buckguy

So why hasn’t San Francisco had hurricanes, too. Really inane even for a televangelist

    • Tomcat

They get earthquakes to punish them.

  • HZ81

Who doesn’t love LGBT sexual perversion? We call it “fun.”

i am sure his flock knows all about it.

    • UrsusArctos

I call it “just another week night”.

      • HZ81

Ha, me too. When anyone says homosexuality is immoral, I reply with “Yeah, if you’re doing it right.”

        • MT YVR

“If it doesn’t leave marks, cause you to be banned from somewhere or involve bail? Well. I’ll just have to keep doing it until one of those happens…”

      • vorpal 😼

Hubby is napping happily away now.

        • Ninja0980

An hour ago and my hubby is doing the same.

  • bambinoitaliano

He is pre-empting any expenses incurred to his scam business in case the social media decide to shame him into action the way it did to Joel Osteen.

  • popebuck1

I’ve never been one of those who like to consider religious belief a symptom of mental illness – but damned if this guy isn’t making one hell of a compelling case for it.

    • The_Wretched

Teaching magical thinking is a harm and immoral. People generally but especially those with brains that don’t work quite right need real information about reality. The other problem is that ‘fervent religious behaviour’ masks and covers for ‘standard mental aberrations’. Worse, it’s sort of hard to tell who actually believes their batshit (though Rick Wiles strikes me as one who does) and who is pulling an Eric Cartman (Oleostein).

  • 2patricius2

So god punished the poor and black the most because of the gayz? And we should worship this vengeful, Drumpf-like god why? Oh, I guess it’s not the worship that is important. It is the money that we should send to this pastor critter that is important. Oh, this wily Pastor Wiles!

  • Sam_Handwich

Angry Dad yelling about the marriage vote in Australia

    this is fucking great!!

    • Ninja0980

He makes my dad look tame by comparison and that is no easy feat.

    • Bluto

      Angry dad for Aussie PM!

  • Steven B

Hay pastor! How about this? God told me that he sent Harvey to punish Texas for voting for Trump.
    Prove me wrong.

  • bambinoitaliano

Christianity in America is about hating those who chooses who they love and loving those who choose to hate like the Nazi and KKK.

And Yahweh said he would never flood the earth again, and then along came the gays to change all that…

    • Gustav2

At least we brought the rainbow!

Stolen from the hands of baby Jesus, Gustav.

        • MT YVR

Baby Jeebus had a surprisingly strong grasp. Took FOREVER to get that rainbow and the lolly from him. I thought someone was gonna notice, but meh. The three “wise men” were voguing so everyone was watching them. But I digress.

        • another_steve

Actually, the goyim (gentiles) stole the rainbow from us Jews. Boyfriend in the Sky gave us the rainbow as a sign of his promise that he’d never again destroy the earth with a flood.

          The flood thing was hateful.

We didn’t like it at all, and we complained.

  • vorpal 😼

Funny how much more LGBT accepting countries like Canada and the Netherlands don’t get a fraction as much punishment as the US.

    • Ninja0980

And even in Blue states like NY, it’s funny how aside from Sandy, the worst storms we’ve had over the past 20 years have always been in the most bigoted parts of the state.
Almost like someone is trying to tell folks something…

  • Renfield

  • James in Hollywood

In 1989, religious nuts believed that the earthquake that hit San Francisco was also God’s punishment for the sin of homosexuality. Which then begged the question: Why were so many churches damaged, and so few gay bars?

    • Tomcat

Lets face it, if these people actually believed in god they would be very afraid to do half the things they do. God is nothing but a means to get rich for them.

  • God just told me that he’s sending meteorites to hit Trump’s properties and all disgusting and hateful places of worship.

    • Tomcat

Will he be taking the first born from each marriage?

  • Adam Stevens

I don’t know much about this ‘evangelical christianity’ stuff.

Is it what it appears to be? A cult that is creepily and disgustingly obsessed with the sex lives of strangers that want absolutely nothing to do with them?

    • Tomcat

      They are coveting gays.

    • McSwagg

That’s only in between the cannibalistic, zombie worshiping “praise” services.

  • Jonathan Smith

yes, because when i think of liberal bastions with less church, Texas just automatically pops into mind.
maybe, just maybe god punished Houston because of all the freaks calling on God to their will?
or was it just a hurricane?

Matt 7: 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

The preacher uses religion to foist disdain and contempt toward people…
… So the people will judge him accordingly with equal disdain and contempt.

  • Silver Badger

    What a crock of shit.

  • coram nobis

This guy’s obsessed with the gay stuff, and other preachers are obsessed with money. Harvey has revealed a few things about modern religion. There’s also the matter of Joel Osteen’s reluctance to open his Houston megachurch to the refugees.

… Osteen’s message was clear: Don’t count on religious leaders to do what’s right.

That message is one that many have been hearing for quite some time, as American Protestantism has moved from focusing on humble public service to greed and naked political ambition. Some, like Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress, manage to pursue both simultaneously. In 2013, he finished construction on a $130 million church campus in Dallas, a project which he claimed was about glorifying God, instead of mammon.

  • Tommy

Houston voters repealed the LGB & T non-discrimination ordinance by over 60%.

  • Actual Houston just repealed it’s gay and trans rights ordinance in a public referendum. If that’s how their god rewards them for being bigots, then WTF. Oh right, their god is imaginary. Meanwhile global warming and hurricanes and 52 inches of rain in a few days are real things.

Harvey is crushing the whole bible belt, not just Houston. If this is “god” driven I think it’s obvious who the target is.

I think we all called this one even before the first raindrop fell. We’ve heard a thousand times that our own Stormcenter meteorologist, God, sends wind and rain to punish christians for being kind to others.

There is no such thing as god or karma, but there is man-made global climate change that is causing hurricanes of greater intensity and destructive power. The problem is self-destruction, not magic from the great beyond.

Any idiot knows that the reason that God has punished the former states of the Confederacy and their ilk with their fair share of hurricanes, floods, drought, tornadoes, and other acts of God(dess) plus acts of (wo)men such as premature deaths, low birthweight children, remarkable rates of homicide, etc. is that they are infested by christianist fundamentalists who reject Jesus’ explicit teachings, wish nothing but the worst for people who aren’t like them, and keep bugging God(dess) to bring them misery. There is a saying that God(dess)(es) answers every prayer, and his/her/its/their answer to these miserable wretches is “Go F– yourselves.”

Yep that incompetent moron Yahweh still hasn’t learned how to punish the “guilty” without causing pain, death and destruction to the innocent. This fundamentalist bull shit is such a joke.

Firstly, one wonders where this deep-seated, irrational hatred comes from that prompts such indecent and perhaps even evil outbursts . . . then you read all the other things Rick wiles has said and begin to wonder why he’s not taking appropriate medication?
