Bryan Fischer: Obama Cracked Down On As A Ploy To Open The Door To Legalizing Prostitution

“Why would Obama suddenly bring the hammer down on homosexual prostitution? Maybe, in the wake of the Ashley Madison hack, he wants to get all the client information from this website in federal custody to protect the identities of his political and social friends who may be customers. Or Obama believes, with homosexuality being the flavor of the year in the world of sexual abnormality, this is the moment to haul homosexual prostitutes into court and get some federal judge somewhere to rule that prostitution cannot be made illegal under the United States Constitution. With no prayer of getting a bill legalizing prostitution through Congress, his best hope is the court system. And his best chance to get the favorable ruling he wants, given the current cultural zeitgeist, is if the defendants in courts are homosexual prostitutes rather than heterosexual ones. What politically correct judge today would dare to rule against the sin of sodomy anywhere at anytime? In other words, Obama is pursuing this action not because he wants to punish homosexual prostitutes but because he wants the Supreme Court to exonerate them. Obama knows that this action will be challenged in court, and that when the appeal makes it to the Supreme Court, he can count on the Court’s five homosexual activists to rule that laws against money for sex are antiquated, outmoded, and so 18th century.” – Hate group spokesman Bryan Fischer, writing for Barbwire.

i have absolutely NO idea how this man’s brain logic works and i have a degree that includes a minor in philosophy, have taken multiple classes in psychology since i worked with kids in school, and have lots of experience in dealing with this. i will say i’m not loosing any sleep over it, but it just amazes me how much of an idiot he is —> too stupid to even know he’s ignorant…

    • BobSF_94117

Uh… the man makes a salary in the upper six figures, year after year, spouting drivel, drivel he knows is drivel. He’s lots of things, but he’s not stupid.

  • BoringLawyer

Bryan Fischer, you stupid stupid man. You have no idea how criminal law works, do you?

    (1) I can assure you the takedown was in the works for years as the prosecutors built a case.

    (2) Obama doesn’t micromanage U.S. Attorneys and tell them whom to prosecute. Presidents just don’t do that.

    (3) By all accounts, Ashley Madison was taken down by private hackers, not government agencies.

Your entire post makes you look stupid, uneducated about the workings of government, and like a nutty conspiracy theorist. It’s sad, really.

    • Chris Baker

No, I think he’s really smart and know what to say to motivate his followers. (although I won’t discount the fact that he’s probably truly paranoid. Living in the echo chamber he does, he hears these same types of messages from his peers.)

I honestly could write pretty good press releases for these right-wing sites because I know what they believe, what they want to believe, the things they want to hear, and the things that will incite them to action. (It also helps that I spent many years in the fundamentalist world so I know the rhetoric.)

      • Todd20036

Were you a reporter, or an actual RWNJ before you took the red pill ?

        • Chris Baker

I was a shy, introverted, sheltered, uptight, rule-following prude, but I never really bought into the fundamentalist teachings. I wish I could say I was just too smart to buy into it all, but I just sort of went along with half-doubts. My parents really weren’t in the fundamentalist camp (although in the last decade have fallen more into it–even somehow getting on the mailing list of our buddy Eugene Delgadio), but I went to Christian schools and college.

So I really understand the group-think that goes on, and the idea of belief-without-questioning. Your pastor is a good christian so he wouldn’t lie. And so is Bryan. But then these lies and falsehoods get repeated over and over because they come from “reputable” sources. I’m sure it happens on the liberal side too, but religious people are taught to accept “facts” without doubt or questioning.

          • StraightGrandmother

I have not been in your shoes, but I understand what you are saying.

          • Bernie Keefe

I have family that have imbibed the same kool-aid, now their brains are as smooth as a baby’s butt.

          • jmax

I was brought up in a strict Baptist home. No dancing, no card playing, no alcohol. I was discouraged from having friends outside of church, and if i did, it was my duty to witness to them and try to get them to join the church. Doesn’t make you real popular with the other kids.

I was also taught to respect and obey the church leaders. We had a pastor who convinced a dying member to change her will, leaving her sizable estate to him personally instead of the church. One of our deacons was known to frequent prostitutes, my older sister being one of them. A trustee (and close family friend) would cruise the local adult bookstore for blow jobs (I know, because I was there for the same reason). And then on Sunday they would sit and judge and preach condemnation for anyone who didn’t believe in their god.

I dropped my membership as soon as I moved away from home. I haven’t been in a church since my mother’s funeral 25 years ago.

          • Chris Baker

There are bad, and manipulative people in the world. Some find their place of power in churches. Some, in politics, others in gangs. Religion makes an easy target because people are taught to trust religious leaders without question.

I fell away from the church for theological reasons (i.e., doubt), and for the fact that I was gay and demonized in most religions.

          • jmax

I didn’t believe most of what I was taught in church, especially when it came to my sexuality. It was hard to be told you’re going to hell for something you have no control over. And I didn’t want to become one of those people who continued to attend just because it was expected of them or out of habit. In the end, there was nothing spiritual about it anymore. As my brother once put it, would you keep going to a restaurant that didn’t feed you?

      • leo77

I’ve always regarded Fischer to be all about affect. His approach is to create associations in the minds of his readers or listeners regardless of whether there’s any emphirical support. In this case he ties, Obama, a politician he hates, to adultery, male—gay—prostitution and the potential legalization of prostitution. All things that are anathemas to his followers.

The fact that none of these things are in fact connected is simply immaterial in Fischers world. Conveying substinative theories for why things happen isn’t the point. What’s important is that he can incite a particular reponse from certain people and reinforce certain perceptions about those he sees as enemies. The ends justifies the means, and the low-information faith based types he plays to are not going to push back.

    • Gustav2

Thank-you, POTUS really doesn’t have the time to do what they say he/she does.

How many of Obama’s friends have been exposed by Ashley Madison? How many of Bryan’s?

  • Chris Baker

Word salad. The proof will be when this all comes out as a simple prostitution sting and none of this legalized prostitution that Bryan warns about comes true.

But by then everyone will have forgotten Bryan’s statements.

*Snort* I should be so lucky to live long enough to see sex workers gain their rights.
I imagine, one day, perhaps one of my children or grandchildren will stand over my grave and tell me about it, but I have little to no hope for seeing it myself.

It pisses me off that he’s using this as tasty bait for his looney followers, knowing it’s all lies. We’re not real people to them, we’re all just dirty prostitutes, gay or straight – or somewhere inbetween…not really people who deserve rights, in fact, he probably feels safe using us for bait for the unwashed masses, knowing we stand no chance anywhere in the near future…we’re safe boogeymen to pull out of the dark and dangle in front of them…whooooooooo….just like the scary gays….the hookers are coming…

    I’m going back to bed.

    • gaymex

Hang in there ZhyKitty…the puritans will soon be pushed back into their caves where they and their repressed views of sexuality belong…rights for sex workers are on the horizon. Marriage equality is just the tip of a thawing iceberg–everyone will benefit, even the cave dwellers.

      • ZhyKitty

From your fingertips to the FSM’s noodle-y ears….may it be so.

        • gaymex

Yes…may it be so. Thinking about you and the attitudes most people have has helped me realize that I am not doing enough in my own life to bring about change for sex workers. Words are cheap. I know there are many sex workers, gay and straight, in the small town where I live. I need to find out what problems they face and to see if they are organized. Maybe I can help somehow.

          • ZhyKitty

            Bless you for that, gaymex.
We often overlap with the LGBTQAI community as so many of us actually fit in under one of the letters! lol
It would be awesome to have the backing of more of our friends and neighbors as outspoken allies…. but understandably, most of us are in the closet during our working years…not wanting to end up on the sex offender registry and all that. That’s a plight and a fear that we once shared with the LGBTQAI community.
This new generation is changing that…a lot of them are bravely coming out and making themselves heard despite the risks, and we old-timers are adding our voices to it, though we don’t stand the risk of getting arrested and tagged as a sexual deviant right along side child molesters anymore.
I’m betting, sometime in the next few years, you’ll be afforded an opportunity to really get involved. At this point though, I wouldn’t know how to tell you to get into contact with any local group, though if you’re interested, I’m positive you could look online and find something…..just be sure to steer clear of the folks who say they support us, but then turn around and make out like we’re all victims in need of rescue, as the 3rd wave feminists have been doing lately.
They’re as bad as the fundies in their own way, and just as damaging to our cause!

          • gaymex

I’m going to see what I can do. Looking at sex workers as victims is definitely not the way to go. Where’s the respect in that? I am embarrassed to admit it, but my white face will open doors that are slammed in the face of others. It’s a terrible confession, but it’s the reality. There may be some way to help. First online, so I can try to understand the problem, though I have more experience than I talk about openly. Saying I was a wild youth would be an understatement, a really big understatement…lol. I was lucky that I managed to always land on my feet, except when other positions were better.

          • ZhyKitty

LOLOL!!! Ain’t nothing wrong with that.

My twin sister always used to say “Sometimes, you gotta save your ass, with your ass.” ……and she was right….
There’s not one bit of shame in it, either. Sometimes it’s literally all you’ve got going for you to barter out of a hole by renting out some hole. lol

I think there’s a certain toughness, a certain strength in some people that when the chips are down as low as they go, they’ll literally do anything that won’t hurt another person (‘less that’s what the customer asks for, of course) to get things turned right side up. We know there’s no hero coming to save the day, and we’ll have to suit up ourselves if we want things fixed. I have always admired that steel backbone in my colleagues – even those who technically never went pro, but still took care of business when they had to. ; )
This is why I hate the people who view us as victims in need of rescue. Where were they when it might’ve mattered? Shit, we already rescued ourselves, you SJWs are too damn late for that.

I hope you do find some way to get involved. FSM knows, there’s so much help that needs to be extended to the community…helping them access health care, seeing to them when they’re too injured/sick/old to work anymore..
…and of course, problem number one, helping them come out of the shadows to live without fear of being attacked by police and put on the sex offender’s registry – and losing their kids if they have them. None of the rest can really happen until we can jump that first hurdle, because most of them will be too scared to identify themselves until we do.

*big hugs* From one former wild child to another.

          • gaymex

            Hugs back

    • David Walker

Hang in there, ZhyKitty. Your friends here said the same about marriage equality. June 26, 2015 restored my faith in “it could happen.”

      • ZhyKitty

That’s true. I remember my first Pride march – we were actually in the parade as we needed everyone on our team, including allies, to fill in the ranks – this is a small town (or was in those days, it’s grown considerably) and just about the only people on the sidewalks (which were pretty full) were haters and church folk condemning us to hell.

We were just standing up to them back then, and I don’t think any of us believed that where we are today was a day we’d ever see in our lifetimes, not on that day….but yet here we are….so you’re right…
        It could happen.

depending on the person you talk to, the reactions will range from “gawd, are you stupid, or just some internet junkie?” to “i wish i could understand what you’re talking about, but i don’t watch TV ‘news’ and i don’t have any idea who this person is.” and a lot of equally ??? responses in between, with a few “Bryan loves jeebus just like i do!” if you’re unfortunate in your acquaintances.

  • Puckfair52

yeah the FBI just decided to investigate the other day he such an idiot. Warrants have to be gotten for everything & all this has to be coordinated over a good period of time or it all falls apart. At least 2 to 3 worth noting escort services in the city get shut down every year some make the papers. Like NY Confidential pulling down $25,000 a night a few years back. The Yellow pages used to have 8 or 9 pages of escort ads when people still used land lines. Anyone can find sex for hire in NY any hour of the day 365 days a year!
Brian your a putz with too much sex on your mind!

  • It all makes sense now. Obama cracked down on a prostitution website to legalize prostitution so when he cracks down on the Southern Baptist Convention and closes down their operations it will be to legalize Christianity.

    Thanks, Obama!

I’m going to presume that this release contains a ton of dog whistles that are perfectly audible and comprehensible to his audience. But to me, it just sounds like word salad.

I don’t have to presume–I know–that the factual and logical errors in the above will pass his audience without evaluation. Those aren’t the type of people who are sensible, logical, or know stuff.

Perhaps most egregious is the intimation that prostitution wasn’t practiced, or was always prosecuted, in the 18th century. Piffle. There were plenty of seamstresses who took in more than laundry and were roundly ignored by the law at the time. In Europe, and to a lesser extent over here, being a courtesan was a well-understood, well-known, and reasonably-respectable profession. But as always, it depended on how rich your patrons were.

    • i’d like to get back to the standards of the courtesan. sans the homophobia, and religion. i find the concept quite elegant and if i were a younger person i’d consider it a good occupational choice. esp in this economy.

a modern courtesan wouldn’t have to worry about the Church or a brand on her face, today. i guess we call them sluts and whores now, as so many of them are little better than kardashian grade media boobies.

but a true courtesan? she/he was a person of taste and elegance. a person to whom you escaped your religiously constipated stupid but rich partner, who also sucked in bed. a person who could show you all the beauty of life with wit, food, dance, fashion, conversation…

wouldn’t it be nice if all sex workers could work in conditions like that? a courtesan could “slum” also. what you paid top dollar for with one? her/his ability to keep your perversions quiet and unknown to anyone but the two of you. and Forbidden Love. the ultimate.

      • LonelyLiberal

There are still plenty of courtesans kicking around, but for the most part, in the United States you will never hear much about them.

Amusingly, if you do a little research, there have been times when a courtesan (and not just Mata Hari) have changed the world.

        • Gustav2

Today they are called Trophy Wives. With a good prenup they are less expensive than a courtesan

    • stuckinthewoods

In our country prostitution seldom rose to the level of “courtesan”. In the 17th C. most imported labor was sold “indentured” white servants but that was synonymous with slave. Early on, indenture was seldom voluntary and people were transported criminals or debtors. The racial distinction was not yet made and “servant” (from Latin servus, slave) was either, and overwhelmingly white. Most were male but the few females sold into indenture were criminal, often prostitutes. Philadelphia’s red light district was called “Hell Town”, New York’s “Holy Ground”. So standard a need that by the time of the seige of Richmond in the Civil War, the Northern army set up an entire prostitute city at City Point.

      • LonelyLiberal

We weren’t nearly as citifed as Europe, so the upper levels were a lot less common. But it absolutely wasn’t unheard-of in Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston.

We can certainly state with all confidence that the vast majority of sex workers during the time period didn’t classify as courtesans. Or during any other time period, for that matter. The courtesan was a most unusual creature during any period. To become one required a decent education, excellent to extraordinary looks (with nods to King George I’s mistresses/courtesans, who were…not quite so physically attractive), and fantastically good, even near-noble, manners.

        • stuckinthewoods

yes, and they could become important historical figures themselves, such as Theodora, empress and wife of Byzantine emperor Justinian.

      • Herald

Actually the English were known to go into Irish villages and round the young women. Then they shipped them to the New World as slaves. IN the Caribbean many were then breed to African slaves because dark skinned slaves were worth more. The African slave had a saying “Thank God I am not Irish.” Just one more way the English tried to s0lve their “Irish” problem.

That said they also did the same with other “undesirables.”

        • stuckinthewoods

It was a way to eliminate their English undesirables too. In an age when over 300 petty crimes were capital offenses (people were sentenced to death for stealing a handkerchief) the Bailey overflowed. Money was made by jailers selling prisoners to shippers who transported them and sold them in the colonies directly (or to “soul drivers”) to work on plantations. Early on whites were cheap. Blacks were costly and valuable. Theoretically a white servant would be free if he survived but it was against his owners interest for him to do so, especially toward the end of his indenture. An owner received 50 acres in trust for each indentured laborer – it served him well to make sure the servant never got it. Blacks came with no such bonus but were slaves forever and never became competitors.

Not only the Irish, the Scots too. Many from the Highland clans resisting union were sent to America in the 1700s. Abducting children whose indenture lasted not several years but until they were 21,.. if still alive.. was widespread (Scottish “kidnabbing”). The magistrates of the city of Aberdeen were sued for collusion in this trade in the decade before our revolution.

We have prettied up American history. On this blog I’ve read people say they descend from early immigrants and I think, “hmmmm, yup, you barely did”. This early phase was eclipsed by the hideous African slave trade but early colonial investors were happy to make profits from anywhere. It solved several of their problems profitably. Ours was a country founded by Ferengi.

          • Herald

And most folks only know the prettied up version, the reality is much more horrific.

      • In Fairbanks Alaska during the gold rush years, the Red Light district was confined to one part of town. It was called “the Line”. The Line had a fence with a gate, and life was good for everyone until the ’50s and the feds made the state close all “known” red light districts.

  • Kevin Perez

Perhaps Brybry is upset that he won’t be able to have his luggage lifted anymore like that most famous of all Rentboy client, George Rekers did.

If prostitution is legalized, MANY of YOUR supporters (who exploit sex workers–some clients, like JOSH DUGGAR, with selfish and sadistic cruelty) will breathe a great sigh of relief, you FRAUD–although they’ll STILL live in fear that their flagrant HYPOCRISY might come to light at ANY moment.

    And sodomy?

This practice is as widespread in straight bedrooms as it is in gay ones. If gay men are “sodomites,” so are STRAIGHT ones.

It is absurd to refer to anything as an “abnormality” that is as commonplace as same-sex attraction, among humans and MANY other species.

So why is he complaining? If he is right, then when he or his followers are caught with a male prostitute they will legally be off the hook.

  • Richard Rush

Maybe TrueChristians hate prostitution because it siphons off money that could otherwise go to the church, and siphons off sperm that could otherwise impregnate men’s wives to produced children who, when they become adults, can provide more money to the church.

    • No they hate prostitution because it means that even if they have to pay for it, some one is getting the sex they want, rather than the sex their church demands them to have.

  • TexasBoy

Bryan, I have some fabulous head wear for you.

If anyone goes to prison because of this Hillary Clinton’s campaign could profit from it. Many of her contribution ‘bundlers’ have close connections to the prison for profit industry. via AmericaBlog

What I’d like to know is why Dubya and Cheney didn’t go after

[I don’t really want to know, of course, but it’s hard not to join in.]

Who is this F-ing NUT CASE?
Of course I know who he IS, but the level of Crazy in this is so high that honestly, I can hardly recognize the normally bat shit @BryanJFischer.

  • Marides48

BF is very obsessed about the homos? Or perhaps he’s extremely disappointing about the RentBoy crack down because his boy supply has dried up! Poor, lonelyBF

  • Bernie Keefe

I had no idea that George Rekers was a friend of Obama!

Don’t knock prostitution, Bryan: It’s the only way YOUR sorry ass will ever get laid.

  • Skokieguy

THANK YOU so much, we had no idea this was Obama’s plan. Based on your clear and coherent statements, I demand that Obama immediately end this investigation and’s website be restored and they immediately resume the important task of gay male prostitution.

Didn’t realize until today that you were pro paid homosex, but thanks for letting us know!

Perhaps to undue the damage he has already inflicted, Obama can issue more Obamaphones and perhaps federally funded vouchers to help the less fortunate (but horny) access and afford the services of the whores on rentboy.

    go suck a dick, bryan!

    • Hmm, maybe not, he might enjoy that. How about go suck a bitter melon?

      • anne marie in philly

nah, a dick; he’s probably on the D L anyway!

        • Yeah, but the deal is I don’t want to enjoy it!!!

Bryan Fischer is an absolute fucking loon

  • Queequeg

Amazing that they think Obama is all powerful, almost godlike, yet somehow weak and ineffective at the same time.
That aside, prostitution should be legalized. As it is now, it is not a victimless crime, but, if regulated, the exploitive aspects coul be minimized.

    • Holy Pasta! You’ve just described the xtian god! All powerful, all knowing, able to smite and smote anyone with a flick of his finger. Coupled with all the sinning that he in some odd way just can’t stop.

  • Colleen Juniper

I actually think there’s a shred of hope that the Rentboy raid WILL further progress toward sex worker rights, but not for Fischer’s weird reasons. Bans on prostitution are so often justified because the work is perceived to be universally exploitative of women–which attitude I find insulting and infantilising; chauvinistic at its core. I am hoping that the fact that the escorts in this case are men will enable advocates to use that sexism to good advantage, and be the wedge that opens the door to decriminalization and empowerment for all the workers.

PS- I do also think it’s a long shot.

“Nobody’s noticed how outrageous I can be lately! Go big or go home!”

  • Raising_Rlyeh

If only this was the reality. I want prostitution to be legal. It has existed as long as humans have and we are never going to eliminate it. The best we can do is regulate and tax it.

  • No, now be honest bryan. The reason you don’t want prostitution legalized is it wouldn’t give you that dirty little thrill when you hire for sex. The bible speaks against it, but the illegality of it is what pushes you up and over the top of orgasm hill.

    “Maybe” isn’t journalism.

    Welp, here’s hoping it works.
