Appeals Court: Christian Finance Guru Can Be Sued By Employee Who Was Fired For Unmarried Pregnancy

Religion News Service reports:

A federal appeals court ruled that a lawsuit against Christian financial guru Dave Ramsey by a former employee who was fired for being pregnant while unmarried can go forward.

Caitlin O’Connor sued the Lampo Group, Ramsey’s Franklin, Tennessee-based company, alleging religious discrimination. But the company said O’Connor was fired for violating the company’s ban on premarital sex, and argued that firing was not based on religion.

A federal judge initially agreed with the Lampo Group’s argument but later changed his mind after O’Connor’s lawyers filed a motion to reconsider. On Thursday, the judge ruled in O’Connor’s favor.

In 2023, Ramsey was hit with a $150 million lawsuit over alleged fraud involving a “timeshare exit” company.

Ramsey appeared here in December 2021 when a former employee sued him after he was allegedly fired for refusing to join in a workplace effort to “pray away” the COVID pandemic, instead “putting his faith in science.”

Before that, he appeared on JMG in March 2021 when it was reported that he fired over a dozen employees for having premarital sex.

We heard from him again in 2021 when he declared that if a $600 stimulus check was likely to change your life, your life was already fucked up to begin with.

Ramsey has also made news for pulling a gun during a company meeting. He once hosted a Fox News show and still appears there regularly as a financial expert.
