GOP Rep: We Should Return To Like It Was In 1960s

“They have succeeded in that these single-family units are much more likely to depend upon the government. And every year, of course, I am lobbied by people who want the government therefore to take up an even greater role in their children’s life, be it daycare, be it preschool, be it after-school programs, whatever.

“They clearly want the children raised by the government. So, I hope the press corps picks up on this. And I hope Republican and Democrat leadership put together some sort of plan for January in which we work our way back to where America was in the 1960s.” – GOP Rep. Glenn Grothman.

According to Grothman, the so-called demise of the American family is the result of President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society program, black feminists like Angela Davis, and of course, communists. The goal for all them, according to Grothman, “was the destruction of the family.”

Grothman appeared here last year when he declared that low-income housing discourages people from getting married.

That same week he complained that Biden won’t nominate “straight white guys” to the federal judiciary.

He also appeared here in January 2023 when he posted a flag associated with the Christian nationalist movement outside his Capitol office.

Months earlier he gave a floor speech condemning the US Census for collecting data on LGBTQ Americans, which he found “horrifying.”

Before that he appeared here in June 2021 when he authored a bill that would ban teaching the history of racism in Washington DC public schools.

His first appearance here came in September 2011 when as a Wisconsin state senator he authored a successful bill that banned mentioning contraception in sex ed classes.

Grothman opposes recognizing Kwanzaa and Martin Luther King Jr. Day as state holidays. In 2015, he authored a bill to place a ban on same-sex marriage in the US Constitution.

Grothman ran unopposed in the 2022 election.
