MICHIGAN: Expelled Adulterous Anti-Gay Lawmaker Cindy Gamrat Files To Run For Her Old Seat

Former Michigan state Rep. Cindy Gamrat, who calls herself a Tea Party Christian, was expelled last week after being caught in an affair with a fellow representative of Christ Himself. Gamrat’s cheating partner, former Rep. Todd Courser, who resigned shortly before he too would have been expelled, had tried to cloak the affair by planting a bizarre story about being caught with a gay hooker. Despite national humiliation, Gamrat wants her old job back. The Detroit News reports:

Gamrat confirmed Thursday she filed to run in the special 80th House District Nov. 3 primary in Allegan County after praying and consulting her family. The Plainwell Republican said she doesn’t think the powers-that-be in Lansing who orchestrated her ouster last week should have the final word on her political fate. “I’ve always maintained that I thought the decision should be up to the voters,” Gamrat told The Detroit News. “I think that they ought to have a voice in this matter.” Gamrat said she received an outpouring of support in the district — including a hug from a jogger recently — which influenced her decision to try to win back her House seat. “She felt bad for what I had been put through and thought God still had a plan for me,” Gamrat said.

Courser is reportedly mulling a run for his old seat as well. Shortly before their affair was exposed the pair had introduced a trio of bills that would outlaw all civil marriages in Michigan. (Tipped by JMG readers Matr and Fred)
