Mike Huckabee: The Virginia Shooting Is Part Of The “Widespread Attempt” To Violently Overthrow Trump

Via Mediaite:

The way former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee sees it, this week’s Congressional baseball shooting is all a part of a wider trend of liberals trying to overthrow the government because they can’t accept the results of last year’s presidential election.

Appearing on Fox News this morning, the ex-Republican presidential candidate tied in James Hodgkinson’s shooting spree that left Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) in critical condition to a leftist movement.

“This is a bigger issue,” Huckabee said. “This is an attempt to overthrow the elected government. And I don’t want people to lose sight of the fact that what we’re seeing is not necessarily an organized attempt but a widespread attempt by people who hate the results of the election. Who want to overturn it not by another election, but by violent means. By any means possible!”

where the hell do people who call themselves americans like this piece of garbage come from? It seems that none of them really give a shit about the functioning of a nation designed to serve the people.

The Virginia Shooting Is Part Of The “Widespread Attempt” To Violently Overthrow Trump

    Or a Second Amendment remedy.

Whatever the GOP is in the mood for.

    • FAEN

Second Amendment remedies are only ok for republicans silly.

      • Stephen Elliot Phillips

        IOKITSIR
Its ok if the shooter is republican

        • Todd20036

Yes, it is ok if you sit on me….

That’s how I read your acronym.

          I blame you.

          • FAEN

            Now you’ve made me randy.

          • prixator

            what was your name before?

          • FAEN

            Dandy.

    • MonochromeMouse

Yeah, all I saw happen in Virginia was a “second ammendment person” “taking care” of something he thought was a problem. Just like resident trump encourages.

      • cleos_mom

Not to mention watering the Tree of Libbity.

    • Uncle Mark

I wonder if Huckabee will be feeling the same way about Cheeto, when the Feds come for Dear Leader, and he attempts to use daughter Huckabee as a super-sized human shield.

  • Chucktech

Well, gosh, jesus-addled Mikey, if the traitors in Congress would just do the right thing, we wouldn’t have to handle it this way, now, would we?

  • Silver Badger

Sounds like Huckabee is calling for a violent Revolution. What an interesting thought.

    • That_Looks_Delicious

I still like Alec Baldwin’s analogy of Trump supporters the best. “It’s like they found a finger in their chili and just kept eating.”

      • canoebum

Who would have believed that many American voters had been dropped on their heads as a child?

        • Steverino

Their mothers mistakenly thought they were taking a shit instead of giving birth.

Turns out their mothers were correct.

        • paganguy

Until I read how many American adults believed chocolate milk came from brown cows, I’d have doubted. Now… not so much.

        • Karl Dubhe

Lead exposure seems to be a larger problem than was thought.

At least we didn’t drink it, like the Romans did. “We” figured out how to turn it into smoke and breathed it in for a couple of generations.

          Oops.

As somebody else has pointed out:
Tweets plugging himself citing bogus poll – 3
Tweets acknowledging dead sailors on USS Fitzgerald – 0

      • SoCalGal20

Two of the 3 tweets this morning were about the “Witch Hunt”.

        • Steverino

And all three, predictably, were about himself.

      • Karl Dubhe

He finally tweeted about the ship. On twitter…

        • Dom Saunders

          Where else would he tweet?

          • Karl Dubhe

          • Dom Saunders

            Of course, lol

    • Lakeview Bob

The only problem (well one of many) is that the Rasmussen Polls have been widely discredited for lack of accuracy. Analysts have studied the 2016 polls and found Rasmussen to be very biased and wrong most of the time.

      Dear Jeebus he’s so delusional.

Happy Pride weekend to my Baltimore area friends.

Wasn’t yesterday’s parade fabulous? Loved all the community marching bands!

Today in the park. Should be fun. 😉

    • Gustav2

Happy Pride to Columbus, the only incident was a few BLM who wanted to obstruct the parade, on TV they said they wanted a moment of silence.

Throngs cheer on LGBTQ refugees, thousands of others in Columbus Pride Parade

      • another_steve

There was a heightened police presence at yesterday’s Baltimore festivities. I was glad to see that. The cops seemed to be having a good time.

There was a ten-minute halt in the parade. Don’t know why or whether it was counter-protest related.

        • Gustav2
        • Bj Lincoln

I always make a point to thank the police at Baltimore Pride. You see the same ones every year. The ones I have talked to over the years all have said it’s the easiest event because there is never any trouble and everyone is so nice. We missed it because we could not get a sitter for the father-in-law. I went to the National March in DC so I still got to enjoy some kind of Pride. My favorite part is the high heel race. I am sorry I missed it. It reminds me of decades of past Parades and home.

          • another_steve

Sorry you missed the Baltimore parade, Bj. Maybe next year. 😉

In 2015, I made it a point to walk over to a group of police at the Sunday Druid Hill Park festival and thank them for being there. It was the year of the Baltimore riots and the city’s police force had been much maligned by the stereotypers who extrapolate from the exception to the whole (much like the stereotypers of the LGBT community do) and demonize an entire population based on the few rotten apples among them.

I thanked them for being there and for watching over us, and they thanked me in return for saying it.

          • dagobarbz, fine Italian shoes

I suspect I’d be better at putting panties on goats than running in heels…

      • Ninja0980
      • Gerry Fisher

One of the things that stood out in Baltimore’s parade was lots and lots of support for BLM from white folks at the parade. Almost everyone wore as sticker in support. (Baltimore’s 70% black, so it’s unusual for white people not to be tuned into issues that affect black folks here.)

        • Bj Lincoln

That is great to hear. If nothing else, Freddy Grays murder united everyone behind BLM. I feel BLM was the reason the city wasn’t burned down when they started letting officers off. BLM helped people focus on problem solving instead of being emotional. Maybe that is why I don’t understand what is going on in other places. BLM should be welcomed.

      • Jwmvh

I was there! Excellent time. I was smiling the entire time. It always makes me so happy.😁

    • Gerry Fisher

I was with the husband in the LifeBridge Health Care contingent in yesterday’s Baltimore parade. He works at one of their hospitals. We got to give out lots of candy, tee shirts, and ear buds.

      • another_steve

Saw your contingent and loved it.

I think it was the Johns Hopkins Medical contingent where the marchers all wore rainbow-colored medical smocks — each one, a different color of the rainbow flag. Soild orange ones. Solid yellow ones. Solid red ones. And all the other rainbow flag colors. Complete with stethoscopes around their necks.

        It was great!

      • Gerry Fisher

We moved here in ’09. I remember the first year we attended, we were taken aback by the small size of the parade back then. It’s really, *really* grown. The LifeBridge contingent grew from 10 last year to ~50 this year.

Happy birthday! And thanks for sharing that great story.

      • another_steve

Music is a great gift, M J. How lucky you were. 😉

My dad (long gone) never even blinked when I came out to my folks. And this was 1972 — the (relatively speaking) Dark Ages. Mom, on the other hand, was in hysterics.

Jewish mother. Prospect of fewer grandchildren.

        Do the math. lol.

        • M Jackson

Thanks Steve. My father was a classical baritone who sang in concerts, my mother a young coloratura singing on the radio in NYC when they married and she then became a voice teacher who taught out of our living room since I was an infant. I grew up hearing my parents practicing for concerts together, I heard Lerner and Loewe, Rogers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, and Gershwin sung in my living rooom at the earliest age.
I thought Mary Martin flying to Neverland on tv was a family relation, she was so revered in our household.
It’s my birthday, I’m seeing my sister in a production of “A Little Night Music” in an hour, and I’m feeling very nostalgiac for my late parents. And for my youth in general. 🙂

          • another_steve

Happy birthday fellow Gemini! My birthday was earlier in the month. 😉

You and I both come from parents who instilled in us a love of the arts. My mom worked with Kitty Carlisle Hart when Kitty was Vice Chair and then Chair of the New York State Council on the Arts. Mom was very into the arts — the performing arts and the visual arts. We lived in NYC at the time and mom made sure my sister and I got to see all the great Broadway shows of the day.

This was the 1960s and 1970s — a golden age for the Broadway musical.

          • M Jackson

Thanks Steve! I came home to Dallas for the b’day to see my sister in a production of A Little Night Music.
That’s so interesting about your mother. I encountered Kitty Carlisle Hart several times in NYC over the last 20 years or so, as a guest at events. In late 2006 I was at a green charity event in the lobby of the Met Life bldg, Mrs. Hart spoke at the podium, she told the story of Irving Berlin writing “Always” for his wife, and she then asked the 300+ people there to join her in singing “I’ll be loving you, Always …” It was incredibly moving, and then several months later she passed away.
She was a great New York lady, very kind, she was one for the history books.
In another lifetime I would pick your brain about what great shows you saw here in the ’60s and ’70s!

Last week Rachel opined how we shouldn’t necessarily be gleeful that the POTUS can’t seem to get top notch lawyers. This after a slew of noted lawyers turned him down.

I’m at the point where I’m saying Fuck it. If he’s too stupid to know he’s getting less than stellar legal advice it’s on him. It’s karma for all the times he stiffed his legal counsel. It’s not like he would listen to them anyways.

Might? What the hell is “might?” If they exist they can be (have been?) subpoenaed, and MUST be turned over to Congress. You don’t get to choose, sunshine. Of course, Congress has to care, which some of the idjits on the various committees don’t. That could slow things down, especially if Dolt45 takes it into his head to find someone to fire Mueller and precipitate a Constitutional crisis.

  • Gerry Fisher

I gotta hand it to the Republicans. They’re doing their very best to piggyback off of That Black Guy is Gonna Kill Us All. Gotta keep that panic and victim mentality going.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

The NRA also has been raising hay off that which leads to the occasional problem for it when even members angrily notice how freaking quiet it is in when the gun owner is not white.

      http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/06/17/after_jeronimo_yanez_acquittal_philando_castile_should_be_the_nra_s_perfect.html

“The NRA was almost completely silent then, too, putting out a tepid statement only after coming under intense pressure from some of its members. As was widely noted at the time, whoever wrote the statement—most likely LaPierre himself—couldn’t even bring himself to mention Philando Castile’s name.

On its face, the Castile case would seem to have all the trappings of a cause célèbre for the NRA. The group’s most fiercely held belief is supposed to be that law-abiding citizens shouldn’t be burdened—let alone killed in cold blood—by repressive agents of the government just because they want to protect themselves and exercise their Second
Amendment rights. Castile should be a martyr for the NRA, while Yanez—who reached for the holster of his service weapon as soon as Castile mentioned he was armed—should be its bogeyman.

It feels banal to even say it out loud: If Castile had been white instead of black, the NRA would have been rallying behind him and his family since the moment of his death, and fundraising off his memory for the rest of time.”
