New Ad Bashes Trump On Concession Threat [VIDEO]

Powerful. Via press release:

This evening the Democratic Coalition Against Trump, the nation’s largest grassroots anti-Trump organization, released a powerful ad attacking Donald Trump for refusing to say he’d accept the results of the election. The organization, well known for its rapid-response operation, began making the ad just minutes after Trump said he wouldn’t commit to concede if he loses.

“We knew right away that Trump’s shocking refusal to say he’d accept defeat in the election would be the biggest story coming out of the debate, and rightly so. The peaceful transition of power is a cornerstone of our democracy,” said Nate Lerner, the Coalition’s Executive Director.

The organization plans to push the video to its more than 120,000 supporters and will invest heavily in targeted ads on social media to ensure that undecided voters in swing states see it. They plan to reach over a million undecided voters by the weekend.

“As this ad illustrates, every losing presidential candidate in the history of our democracy has graciously conceded to the victor. Trump’s refusal to do so is extremely dangerous and should immediately disqualify him to be President,” added Jon Cooper, Chairman of the Democratic Coalition Against Trump.

  • Judas Peckerwood

C’mon, he’s already conceded that the election is rigged. What more do you want from the man?

    • another_steve

I want him to keep his hands off my pussy.

      Here’s a picture of her.

I want to have a cat again so badly, but first I need to get a job where I don’t have to travel all the time.

        • another_steve

If you’re a gay man, you should have a cat.

No gay man should be without a cat.

          • EweTaw

Except those of us who are deathly allergic to their saliva, hair, poop, scratches and who prefer dogs.

          • another_steve

Dogs are nice, but they’re dumb.

            Cats are cunning.

          • EweTaw

My dogs know how to drive, protect me from evil and they’re pretty good at going for help. They also understand English. 🙂

          • another_steve

Impressive, but I bet they don’t know how to dissect Camel Crickets.

I spend half my day picking up Camel Cricket legs in the house.

          • bkmn

I had a cat that would carry on a conversation with you. He was a good guy.

          • Lazycrockett

It’s a pet not something I want to compete with.

          • another_steve

Competition is the way of nature.

Ten thousand years from now, Planet Earth will consist only of cockroaches and cats.

          • CottonBlimp

Dogs are objectively smarter than cats. Cats just lie on their resumes.

          • Tor

We like to play cunning stunts. And dogs are stupid.

          • another_steve

I fear my cat, which is why she loves me.

          • vorpal

I do hope you know that I was kidding…

            =purrrrrrrrrrs= + antihistamines 🙂

          • ByronK

            Hear hear!!

          • ShawnSwagger

I agree, but it’s not fair to the cat to regularly leave him/her alone for 5 days at a time. A weekend every once in a great while is okay, but not my current schedule.

          • another_steve

            Yes, that would be hard.

A cat who was left alone that frequently would probably kill you in your sleep.

          • Tor

            You bet i would!

          • Corsair Tact

I adore cats. Really, I do. I love them. I watch their videos (they are video-making machines!). But I can’t live with them for a number of reasons.

          • another_steve

With enough perseverance, you learn to live with everything.

If I could learn to live with my husband, you can learn to live with a cat.

          • Matthew Delemos

I prefer dogs, but roomies have a cat (she likes me better). They can be quite pleasant, and their general independence is nice.

          • another_steve

It’s their demand for independence that turns a lot of people off to cats. Cats do not take shit from anyone.

            Dogs take shit.

            Cats do not.

          • wayne

I compare dogs to children, and cats to roommates.

          • another_steve

Hon, my cat is landlord here, not roommate.

        • bkmn

When I started travelling for my old job one of my cats would be so pissed off she would hop up on the fireplace mantel and knock stuff down. She would remain mad most of the weekend then on Sunday night she would forgive me and be cuddly. Then on Monday morning I would leave for the week and the cycle would continue.

          • ShawnSwagger

Yes, I recognize that feline behavior.

          • bkmn

It lasted for a little over a year then she finally decided she should not waste the entire weekend being mad at me.

          • vorpal

This is what happened when I started packing suitcases for my trip a few weeks back. Since I returned, he has barely left my side:
            https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/07ee1f92e9012579801a8f2a558b4265248f2dcb7a17ab59ba3b0a2aa396e167.jpg

          • bkmn

I had a mostly white guy who would hop in my bag while I was trying to pack. Always had to pack a lint roller to get his hair off my clothing.

          • vorpal

I swear that my cats are the primary reason that most of my clothes are dark :-). It’s just easier that way.

Having four, I have also glumly accepted the fact that I will probably never prepare another dish at home that doesn’t end up with at least one cat hair in it. Partly my fault because they are so prolific in the kitchen and I can’t help but give them kisses while I’m cooking :-).

          • bkmn

My white cat jumped up on the stove once while I had a pan of water on the lit burner. I raised holy hell and he learned not to do that again.

          • vorpal

I’m glad your kitty wasn’t harmed and learned his lesson.

Hubby has a bad habit of leaving knives out, and the cats love to jump on the counter and will not take no for an answer. I worry about it all the time, but fortunately no injuries have been incurred yet.

A couple times, little wayward paws have also turned the knobs for the stovetop and I woke up to the smell of gas.

            Ugh. =feels like a bad dad=

          • bkmn

My white guy was named Arnie and he was big and tall enough that he could almost open a door by turning the knob….thankfully almost.

          • vorpal

Awwww… that’s adorable :-). Did you pick that name, or did he come named?

Indoor kitty? Ours are all indoors… with a few wily escapes under their belts!

          • Bomer

I had a cat that could do that. There was no door she couldn’t open. She reminded me of the raptors from Jurassic Park.

          • RoFaWh

Make hubby an experiment in psychology by rewarding him whenever his behavior approximates, however distantly, the behavior you want to impose on him.

As his behavior grows closer to the ideal tighten up the criteria for reward. Eventually, he should automatically put the knives away after use.

          • vorpal

Can’t I use punishment instead? Oh man, there are so many areas to start, I can’t pick even just 50.

LOL when I met hubby, he put his knives away, actually, in order of size on a magnetic rack. My mom met him and said, “He’s so nice. Please don’t wreck him.”

I think I wrecked him. But maybe punishment will work.

          • agcons

Has he ever climbed into an open suitcase? My siamese used to do that.

          • vorpal

Oh yeah, they’ve all (all four) done that multiple times. I’m kinda lazy (you will all be shocked, I’m sure) and left my suitcase out and open for five days until finally the cleaning lady insisted on emptying it and putting everything away (eeek), and they took turns sleeping in it on top of my used clothes.

      • kareemachan

        Same with me:

    • bkmn

Its rigged, but if he wins he will accept the result – have your cake and eat it too.

      • Tor

He can only win if it is rigged.

  • Michael R

Why would he be having tantrums if he hadn’t already accepted his defeat ?

    • clay

anger is an earlier stage of grief than acceptance?

      • Tor

        It’s also earlier than depression.

        • David L. Caster

Anger is a response to a loss of control.

    • It’s a little more complicated than that, if you’ve been watching his behavior over the years and even across this election.

He’s a man who has internalized the false idea that it’s a win-win for him if, when he’s losing, he complains the competition or situation is ‘rigged’ against him. I believe there is in him this false belief that complaining about things being fixed against him somehow makes them less so, and actually increases his chance of winning. If he wins, it’s a way he can then artificially inflate the odds he supposedly overcame. As in, “It was rigged against me, but I still won!” And if it doesn’t and he loses, he pats himself on the back for ‘correctly’ predicting he’d be cheated.

It’s a rather malignant way of thinking that also excuses failure and a propensity for laziness.

In other words, bitching about the referees is what he always does if it doesn’t look like he’s winning. ALWAYS.

  • AW

Wow… that is pretty amazing. And the George Washington quote at the end? Powerful stuff.

  • Do Something Nice

For some reason, among everything this asshole represents, this seems trivial. A jackass saying he won’t concede isn’t a threat to democracy.

    • Dramphooey

I agree but we’re currently at a point where admitting to rape has become “locker room talk.”

    • bkmn

Once the election is certified it is over. He can try to take it to any court and it will be swatted down.

      • teeveedub

That’s true, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have an audience for his bullshit. He can still stir up trouble among the gullibles.

        • bkmn

It is going to be interesting to see how much air time FuxSnooz gives him after his loss, especially since he is looking to create a rival to them.

      • RoFaWh

Generic dictators come to very bad ends. Mussolini ended up hanging by his heels from a street light. Hitler committed suicide as The Thousand-year Reich crumbled to the ground around him, after only twelve years. Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife were tried by a military tribunal then taken outside and shot. Muammar Gaddafi hid in a culvert but was found and killed by gunshot and beating.

Many of them have been trashed, some by their own hands, some directly or indirectly by Trump. You can see it written on their faces. They know. They aren’t stupid. Thoughtless in their overweening desire for power maybe, but not stupid. They have been dragged down by familial association and that can’t be easy to take. A part of me wants to feel sorry for them, on the other hand, because I think they aren’t stupid, I believe they should have seen through Donald Trump much sooner. Their self interest and quite likely their fear of Trump himself stopped them from pulling away in time to avoid being tainted by his repugnance and disease.

At least one, probably more have enough of a brain to know their father is a complet baffoon. Imagine having to go along your whole life just for the trust fund, while knowing the tax man, attorneys and creditors will likely take it all anyway?

I know someone whose father left 8B but the attorneys etc took most of it. Another person, my neighbor and friend (so I got more detail) was left a few million of her fathers 100 M estate. But he was like trump, big real estate deals and shell games. Her step mother devalued a palm beach home so that she could claim more cash as her share and a Hudson valley marble palace went to a college at a huge valuation to ease estate taxes. She had to sue the estate to get her modest amount, clawing back money from the step mom and (evil catholic) college. Fascinating-step mom also got a mountain top castle in Germany. I looked it up-it’s an entire walled medieval village.

Point is I would rather have earned what I have and am

Denial, it ain’t just a river in Egypt.

Denial and projection are strong with this one. (stupid is not far behind)

“What’s sad is how voter fraud, an art the Democrats are mastering to a tee, that even Hillary Clinton feared Obama used against her in 2008, could cheat Trump, and the American people out of their rightful clear landslide for Trump.”

OT: Scott Walker Says It Doesn’t Matter What Trump Accepts or Doesn’t Accept.

Walker says no matter what Trump does “all of the other elements of government will go forward.”

Michelle had that crowd on Fire in AZ.

    • SoCalGal20

She did! She’s such a great public speaker. I love her! And I always feel good after one of her speeches.

    • bmedle

I think an argument could be made that Michelle has been the best Hillary surrogate this year. And that’s a tall order.

      • coram nobis

She has the intelligence, charisma and force of character to have been President in her own right. Maybe in a few years she can go for it?

        • wayne

          I had that thought too.

        • bmedle

I don’t think she has the slightest interest, unfortunately. She hates D.C., among other reasons.

“The organization, well known for its rapid-response operation…”

To be fair, Trump practically writes their ads for them.

    • Gianni

That is so true. They just have to organize and edit and get it out there.

That Emmy he’s pissed off about not winning? I wonder if he’ll still be complaining after he wins one for writing on Saturday Night Live.

BTW, counting both individual and for her show, Rosie O’Donnell has 12 Emmies.

  • Reality.Bites

Although it wasn’t a presidential election, nor was it in keeping with the theme, I’d have loved them to slip in “You won’t have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore” right before Trump.

    Disqus is acting up.

I tried to post a comment a little while ago and a message came up saying they were doing maintenance on the API. Hopefully it will be back to normal soon.

OT I find this so appropriate: From the Oxford English Dictionary entry on trump second definition “Break wind audibly.” in other words fart -The Economist seems to agree
    VERB
    [NO OBJECT]
    informal
    Break wind audibly.
    Example sentences
‘Half asleep and looking up at him, I yawned a long, deep yawn and just as I closed my mouth and opened my eyes he relieved himself, not by burping or trumping however, but by throwing up into my face!’
‘As morning broke in the windowless Bedsit, Emma peered wearily out of the bed they’d shared as Michelle trumped loudly and proudly into the already stale air.’
‘If you were standing in a lift, and someone trumped loudly for half a minute continuously, would you say “yes, impressive!”, or would you say “LET ME OUT OF HERE”?’

  • It doesn’t really matter if Trump concedes or not. That’s not an official anything. It’s just something that people are expected to do because we don’t like sore losers and bad sports. But if Congress refuses to certify the results that could be another matter.

  • Chris Davis

Ultimately it doesn’t matter whether or not Trump accepts the results of the election. He can pout and whine and complain and shout “rigged” as often as he wants and yet, on inauguration day, Hillary Clinton will be sworn in as our new president, and Trump will have no say in how our country moves forward. Game over. His only role at that point will be to watch his brand be forever tarnished while his businesses implode as lots of people, disgusted by his words and actions over the last 18 months, avoid his hotels, move out of his buildings, and don’t buy his trashy merchandise. He might continue to have a forum on TV somewhere to spew his vitriol but no one else will pay much attention to him — and that’s the absolute worst thing that can happen to a narcissist like Trump.
