Each year, since the turn of the millennium, word arrives from on high: Pantone, the self-described world’s authority on color, announces its Color of the Year. On Thursday, Pantone declared “Mocha Mousse” as the color for 2025.
The “evocative soft brown” or “warming rich brown hue,” the company said in a press release, “nurtures with its suggestion of the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate and coffee, appealing to our desire for comfort.”
In unveiling a hue meant to reflect the culture through the language of color, Pantone also forecasts what’s next in design trends. The earthy color seizes on “a growing movement to align ourselves with the natural world,” the release read.
