The Mississippi Free Press reports:
A bill that would prohibit transgender minors from accessing trans-inclusive health care could become law after the Mississippi House passed it by 78-28 vote.
The bill, known as the “Regular Experimental Adolescent Procedures (REAP) Act,” would prohibit standard treatments such as hormone therapy and puberty-blocking drugs by barring public funds from going to “any entity, organization or individual that provides gender transition procedures to a person under 18 years of age.”
After presenting the REAP Act, Rep. Nick Bain [photo] admitted that he is not aware of any children undergoing gender-confirmation surgeries in Mississippi. “Procedures? As far as surgeries, I’m not aware of any,” he said. “As far as hormones, that is going on.”

Terrible.
Mississippi rushes a ban on gender affirming care through its state house.
It is now the first trans medical ban on trans youth to pass a full state house this year.

“I’m not a doctor,” Rep. Nick Bain, R-Corinth, said as he presented the trans health care ban.
He then painted a picture of a boy who “removes his body parts” and “regrets it.”
Pressed, he admitted he is not aware of any minors obtaining such surgeries.https://t.co/Rfyk5CoLm3

Last month, Rep. Jay Hughes said he and other white Democrats in the House voted for a 6-week abortion ban to avoid losing more white Dems in the Mississippi House.
Today, one of those white Dems who voted for the bill, Rep. Nick Bain of Corinth, switched to the GOP. #msleg
