The Daily Beast reports:
Nearly 900 would-be Rat Czars have responded to New York City’s solicitation for a citywide director of rodent mitigation. “It went wild,” a city spokesperson told The Daily Beast on Friday. “It really did, which is good.”
The applicants included a number of cats. At least one feline’s submission had a photo attached. “It was a very cute, good-looking cat,” the spokesperson added. “A cat likely will not be getting the job,” the spokesperson said. “It would be a very well-paid cat, though.”
The ideal candidate is described as “highly motivated and somewhat bloodthirsty, determined to look at all solutions from various angles,” qualities many city cats do in fact possess.

Who knew the job of exterminating the city’s “relentless rat population” would have so many takers? https://t.co/IakuwwXBvY
