Orlando’s ABC News affiliate reports:
Gov. Ron DeSantis held a briefing in Orlando to state the importance of convalescent plasma donations for COVID-19 patients. The governor held the press conference from the OneBlood headquarters at 12:15 p.m., but it wasn’t one without interference.
DeSantis was interrupted briefly by protesters before they were turned away by police. Florida health officials reported 10,347 new COVID-19 cases Monday as well as 92 coronavirus-related deaths.
As other governors move to mandate masks and face coverings for people in public spaces, DeSantis said he has no such plans and will leave the issue for local leaders to decide. In total since March, Florida has seen more than 350,000 confirmed cases and more than 5,000 coronavirus-related deaths.
Today’s the sixth straight day that Florida has reported over 10,000 new COVID cases.
