Another Broadway story to start you off:

Stephanie J. Block will star as the title role in the Broadway-bound musical The Cher Show, the Tony nominee confirmed via Twitter. The latest in jukebox bio-musicals, the show makes its out-of-town debut at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre, beginning performances June 12 and playing through July 15. The show is slated to open on Broadway in the fall at the Neil Simon Theatre—where the revival of Angels in America officially opened March 25.

Three actors will play Cher throughout various stages of her life and career—Babe, Lady, and Star—with Block set to play Star. No word yet on the other two actors sharing the role with Block. With a book by Tony winner Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), the show will be directed by Jason Moore (Avenue Q) with choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies). Tony winner Daryl Waters (Memphis) serves as musical supervisor and longtime Cher collaborator Bob Mackie as costume designer.
