Trump: Second Amendment Will Never Be Repealed

Politico reports:

President Donald Trump vowed Wednesday morning that his administration will not support the repeal of the Second Amendment, a step former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens suggested Tuesday in a New York Times op-ed.

“THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY,” Trump wrote on Twitter early Wednesday morning. “We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!”

The debate over America’s gun laws has taken center stage in the six weeks since a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people. The attack prompted nationwide “March for our Lives” rallies last Saturday in cities across the country.
