Critica Panama reports:
The music, dances, flags, flashy costumes and slogans of equality of rights and against discrimination were the elements that accompanied thousands of people who participated in gay pride march this Saturday, July 1.
The event began at 4:00 pm, led by First Lady Lorena Castillo de Varela, United States Ambassador to Panama John Feeley, Mayor of the Capital District José Blandón Figueroa, Deputy Mayor Raisa Banfield and representatives of various organizations that defend human rights.
The march, organized by the Asociación Hombre y Mujeres Nuevas de Panamá, aims to demand respect for the rights of people who are members of the LGBTI community.
Not only did Panama’s First Lady lead the parade, she posted the below celebratory video to her Twitter account.
