The New York Police Department announced Monday that it has enough evidence to charge nine members of the right-wing group Proud Boys and three protesters with various counts of rioting, assault and attempted assault.
The brawl between the two sides erupted a few blocks from the Metropolitan Republican Club after a speech by Proud Boys leader Gavin McInnes on Friday. NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said Monday police recovered multiple videos of the incident, and have spoken to witnesses and sources as they work to put together what took place in the moments after Proud Boys and associates left the Manhattan club.
A video by filmed by photojournalist Sandi Bachom shows Proud Boys beating people on the street while shouting homophobic slurs at several men as they kicked and punched people who laid on the ground.
