Fox Host Floats Canadian Border Wall [VIDEO]

The Wrap reports:

“Fox & Friends” floated the possibility on Friday that in addition to a wall on America’s southern border, the U.S. should consider erecting one to protect Americans from Canada.

“President Trump might want to think about a northern border wall if Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gets his way,” said Jillian Mele during the show’s headlines segment.

In Mele’s telling, the wall might be necessary due to new Canadian domestic policies initiated by Trudeau.

  • ETownCanuck

I think Canada and Mexico should team up together and build one which completely surrounds the US entirely….and then fill it with water…..

    • Mikey

I’d even suggest a giant dome, we can splurge.

    • northern_neighbour

You forgot to put the snark sign on. We have to be careful not to piss off the Sharks in the Swamp.

  • Tomcat

Fox has definitely gone over the edge.

  • Canada is likely to want to build one themselves to keep idiot Americans out.

    • HanyBaal

Maybe they instigated the story to get a wall and have the neighbor to the south pay for it!

      • acde

That is the truth from the perspective of this Canuck – but don’t tell Trump. He has all the money in his ‘court’ now [with the .005% of the populace, the uber-rich] to be able to pay for it – and it is so, so, so necesary You know those crazy Canadians thinking things can change and that terrorists might be able to see something differently when de-programmed – even though we all know that Trump can’t see anything differently – ever. . Everyone is saying that and Fox is reporting it – so it is the truth [1984 style!]

        • Nowhereman

And yet they are all for redemption when it comes to republican men who harass and assault women…

      • Nowhereman

        that’s what I think, too.

    • ted-

I might want to move there one day, so please don’t keep me out

      • northern_neighbour

Get your Refugee Resume in order. And your C.V. with your record of good citizen volunteerism. We are not unreasonable up here.

      • acde

Get in line now, because it is getting longer by the day, including 60,000 Haitian refugees Trump is literally kicking out of the USA

    • Todd Allis
    • RoFaWh

Our reputation for cold, hard winters and for single-payer universal health insurance will frighten the deplorables and keep them out.

      No wall necessary.

      • northern_neighbour

This is a reasoned, sensible approach to the Fox Hypothetical.

        But there’s always Vancouver . . .

    • MT YVR

Honestly a couple of spots in Canada are having such incredible problems with people coming into Canada across the USA border people have actually been wondering what the hell to do. A wall is stupid and so far no one’s publicly said it up here… but I bet a couple of towns that are being flooded would seriously think about it.

      • pch1013

Yes, they’re refugees who have suddenly found that the U.S. doesn’t want them, so they’re flooding border towns in New York and Washington and elsewhere.

Not that the régime in Washington cares, but the rest of us should be dismayed at the sight of people clamoring to get *out* of our country.

      • Veylon

I know a Canadian right-winger in another forum who is steamed at all those ugly foreigners coming over the border and wants things locked down.

    • MonochromeMouse

They already have a huge illegal immigration problem with american citizens fleeing over the border for reasonably priced healthcare.

    • David Lightfoot

So far we’re largely getting the good ones. Like me, for example 😉

    • JCF

Please, let the “+3 million” in (potentially) first!!!

    • Kruhn

So these assholes would destroy the world’s longest unprotected border for their bullshit. Be afraid. Be very afraid!

That’s how things started with the current regime.

      • Nowhereman

I’m having flashbacks to the book “the Handmaid’s tale”.

    • Nowhereman

If they just wait a bit, they can get us to build the wall AND pay for it.
Seriously, it’s amazing how much money we have to spend on bullshit, but providing health care for toddlers is too expensive. We should use their own acts and deeds to prove once and for all that this is NOT a christian nation.

  • pj

thats it piss off our last friend in the world. god these people are stupid.

    • Tomcat

But THEY still have Russia as friends.

      • pch1013

And Palau – don’t forget Palau!

  • bkmn
  • Jack

    One wall at a time.

  • bkmn
    • I see Fox and immediately think Tass/Pravda.

      • JCF

        Or Pravda/Izvestia.

        Pravda: “Truth”
        Izvestia: “News”

Old Russian saying: “There is no Pravda in Izvestia, and there is no Izvestia in Pravda.”

    • RobynWatts

Another way to look at it is that since the O is a vowel, the next vowel would be a U. Hence, the word would be FUX, which is pronounced as fucks. Therefore, when I see that, all I see is “Fucks News”, which is what this propaganda outfit does.

      • bkmn

and why I often refer to them as FuxSnooz

    • netxtown

I see Fox and think: Toys R us, mattel, dizzy fairy land, ho’s, hogs, and heathens.

  • William

We must have an electronic wall to prevent liberal Canadian ideals from reaching American’s minds.

  • Mikey

they know how much that tiny wall between the US and Mexico is gonna cost.
have they thought of how much the wall along the US/Canadian border would cost in comparison? It’s one of, if not the longest border between any two countries in the world.

    • northern_neighbour

I’m Canadian and we don’t need a physical wall. We already are equipped with a powerful mental one. Not that we don’t like you guys, on an individual person by person basis. And it is true, some of you we are not overly fond of.

If America invades us there will be massive passive resistance until the US finally gives up and goes home cursing us out and swearing eternal allegiance to Jeebus.

  • Mark McGovern

Again, I’m speechless. And we Canadians are going to pay for it, correct?

  • Tomcat

Does Fox realize that would require large tax increases to pay for?

    • Tomcat

    • m_lp_ql_m

So? Won’t be a tax increase for the rich nor their corporations.

  • Lazycrockett
  • That_Looks_Delicious

If we get any batshitcrazier, Canada might give some serious thought to paying for that wall.

  • CJAS

Does that wall come with catapults? If so, I’m in.

    • m_lp_ql_m

There’ll be trébuchets on the part that borders Québec.

      • northern_neighbour

      • CJAS

  • Karl Dubhe 2

You can pay for that. I doubt many of us are still interested in visiting, not anymore…

Who will emulate Reagan and say “Mr. Trump, tear up those plans!”

    • northern_neighbour

I went to my favourite niece’s wedding in Boston last April, but I don’t see myself spending any more time or resources in the USA. Not that I don’t love NYC, or Boston or SF or Seattle or Cleveland or New Hampshire or Maine, lovely places that I have been to quite a lot in the past.

As for a wall, Canada, won’t build or pay for one — it couldn’t keep a determined Imperial America out in any case.

Walls worked to some extent back in the 2nd century B.C. or A.D. depending on available assault technology of the time, and food supply within the walls.

Of course we in Canada do joke at times about a wall that we would build, but that is just a metaphor for the psychological wall that already exists up here.

And some of us are pushing for Mixed Proportional representation up here in elections so we can hopefully stave off the electoral corruption that has befallen our deeply wounded neighbour.

Anyhow we continue to welcome your best and brightest but expect respect in return for Canadian values.

      • Karl Dubhe 2

Actually, walls worked rather well until the introduction of gunpowder and cannons. 🙂

It was at that point they became obsolete in warfare.

        • northern_neighbour

D’accord. But sometimes patient invaders just sat out a starvation siege and the walled city had to capitulate.

The walled city at Rhodes was on a high cliff top overlooking their harbour, in the Hellenistic time, and they successfully resisted a siege because the assaulting force needed to move on.

        • ChrisMorley

Our Mighty Trebuchet says expect a surprise.

          • Karl Dubhe 2

Rather well, not perfectly. And even those things could be defeated during the era they were used.

No weapon has ever been infallible. 🙂

  • HZ81

    Jesus Fucking Christ.

Let the right secede already. They can have a few of their most cherished red states and wall themselves in.

    • Lazycrockett

After 10 days they would be begging to come back to the Blue State checks that keep them afloat.

      • HZ81

You know it—if the sure-to-happen tire fire doesn’t wipe them out first.

      • northern_neighbour

Nah, no way … let them wallow and flounder in their shit.

Let the good ones then emigrate to the Blue, after careful evaluation as to sanity and goodwill, of course.

    • Reality.Bites

You know just yesterday we had the story of the Trump Soho Hotel finally getting rid of his name and management company, as other Trump-licensed properties have done. They all paid to buy out their contract. Maybe we can offer the red states money to leave.

      Cheap at any price.

      Much like the Trumps.

      • HZ81

This sounds like a solution to our GOP national nightmare. I am down.

  • greenmanTN

oh, but take your time building it.. I want my 2nd season bluerays of Westworld.

  • Captain Jack

Are all these walls to keep everyone out or everybody in? May be time to move!

  • DreadPikathulhu

Where do they find these people?

  • Tomcat

Trump has already built enough walls against our friends and burned enough bridges between them and us.

  • vorpal

Pretty sure they’re trying to keep the Americans in.

  • Halou

At this rate the only thing connecting Trumplandia to the outside world will be a single-lane bridge going across the Bering Strait to Russia.

      Aw yes, the motherland.

  • JaniceInToronto

You know, after seeing where the U.S. is headed, I’d throw in some money to get this Kickstarted. We need to keep the idiots from crossing our southern border.
If you think -you- have problems with crazy neighbors, you should see what it looks like from here!

Build the wall. Keep Canada safe.

    • northern_neighbour

It won’t work Janice. Waste of taxpayer money. We need to spend our resources on education, truth in media, and electoral reforms to eliminate an entirely “first past the post” system.

We can’t prevent idiots from coming into Canada, wall or no wall. We can only keep Canada safe by keeping sanity, reason and humanity in our own individual heads.

Besides we already have a pretty profound and extensive psychological wall … as humans we are no better than Americans, but we were fortunate to have different cultural and historical development, which led us to value respect for the other persons within our society.

Civility remains here … it has pretty much evaporated in the U.S. There are a couple hundred million basically very decent Americans down there, but they are in the thrall of the Usurpers. And they don’t really know how to get their country back again, which is pretty tragic. And their original Constitution was flawed, especially the Electoral College provision and the wide open 1st and 2nd amendments. America is being destroyed from within by guns, racism, hatred and white entitlement.

      • JaniceInToronto

“America is being destroyed from within by guns, racism, hatred and white entitlement.”

Build the wall. It’s too late to hope for sanity there.

Besides, we can get them to pay for it.

        • northern_neighbour

Cheers Janice. You’re right about the lateness of the hour of history, but a physical wall isn’t going to save us.

Have a good Holiday in Toronto or wherever you will be!

          • JaniceInToronto

Happy Solstice and a prosperous new year to you!

        • Charles Nelson

I wonder what the ‘barbarians’ thought looking across Hadrian’s wall as the Roman empire rotted out from the inside.

      • marshlc

I was assuming Janice was joking, but yes, civility, humanity, and good sense are what will save us from being over-run, not resorting to crazy tactics.

We can’t be smug, though, or complacent. We need to keep up the struggle to not meet assholery with more assholery, but with sanity and good humour.

      • Charles Nelson

Americans that you want to keep out won’t come…they are repelled by education and common sense.

        • northern_neighbour

Prolly right … anyway up here we are hardly worried about American visitors, … they pretty much have to leave the guns behind when they get to the border.

          • Nowhereman

that alone should keep out the worst of the worst.

      • Nowhereman

Education is key. Christian homeschooling as taken a terrible toll. In some parts of the US, people are actually proud that they are under educated, and Republicans love it because those people are the 30% who would vote for trump no matter what. And of course Betsy DeVos is working hard to destroy our public school system completely and deliver the students to Jesus. I’m glad I went to school in the 50s and 60s. I’m also glad I never had children.

        • J Ascher
    • David Gervais

Remember, when he says “They will pay for it.”, the trumpanzees think he means Canadians and Mexicans. In reality it is the trumpanzees who will pay for it. tRump signed the Act that will enable that.

  • Westcoast88

Canadian domestic policies like universal health care?
The border wall would keep out Americans who can’t afford health insurance.

    • northern_neighbour

We’re not supposed to treat Americans up here, as our insurance won’t cover us against American lawsuits. I sometimes have however. But it is not recommended.

In Britain non-Citizens get treated without charge by the National Health Service. They are that generous to their visitors.

  • jawnbc

Yes please. We’ll pay for it too.

  • Reality.Bites

I wonder which policies? I think the blue states should implement as many of them as possible and maybe they’ll get a wall against Trumpland too.

  • Dana Chilton

Of course, by phrasing the crawler differently “Trudeau says sinners can change” we can clearly the hypocrisy and insincerity in Fox and Friends ideology and faux outrage

    • northern_neighbour

When do you predict this amazing epiphany for Faux?
I don’t wanna turn blue here while holding my breath!

  • GayOldLady

Well, yeah! Then we’ll build a bigger wall down the East Coast, the West Coast and across the Gulf of Mexico. Stupid asses!

  • kareemachan

Too bad Faux idiots don’t actually check out reality. I have friends who live probably 500′ away from the WA/BC border. When driving to their house, you see plenty of border patrol people cruising this side of the border and parked every so often to keep those evil terrorists out. Just think: if they built a wall, that would put multiple cops out of work.

    • William

That’s where I want to live. Then I could do all my grocery shopping in Canada.

    • LesbianTippingHabits

That’s precisely why nothing will ever change, with the ‘war’ on drugs or the ‘war’ on terrorists, etc.

It’s actually a jobs program for men, and some women.

    • Renfield

They shouldn’t worry. They can get jobs in the coal or steel industry. In China.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada
  • Bad Tom

Don’t we grow most terrorists right here at home?
    Why, yes. Yes, we do!

  • The Milkman

Girl please. We can’t even build a regional railway that allows for speeds over 80 mph without having the trains careening onto the freeway, and these xenophobes want to build a wall all the way across the continent? Are we to build a wall across the Great Lakes, too? Has there ever been a similar wall (in modern times) that successfully kept out the people that were supposed to be kept out? The age of huge American infrastructural building projects is over. Time to get with the program and quit acting like jerks.

    • LesbianTippingHabits

Well, the Iron Curtain did a pretty good job, but not 100%.

The Demilitarized Zone between North Korea and South Korea also has a pretty good record.

Whether it’s keeping people out or keeping people in depends on the beholder, of course.

      Thank you.

  • yes b’y
    • northern_neighbour

Now this is the kind of symbolic wall that I could stand behind!

      That is very cool!

  • nocadrummer

To keep the Canadians OUT, or keep us IN?
    THAT is the question.

    • northern_neighbour

Certainly it would make it harder for you guys to flee oppression.

We had a lot of your pacifist draft dodgers here in Canada, during the Vietnam war, and a lot of them never returned home, even after the amnesty a few years back.

  • Bambino

Hmmmmm I might not oppose to the idea given how the country turning into rancid orange. A wall on the north and a wall from the south. Sounds like you guys will be living in a pressure cooker that could only go up 😛

  • Cucker “Dick” Tarlson

The Great Lakes states say bring it, you miserable twat.

  • I’m surprised Trudeau hasn’t floated the idea, to protect Canada from Trump.

But then, he’s not what you’d call a demagogue.

As for Mele — was she born stupid, or did she go to night school?

    • LesbianTippingHabits

Canada may very well find it in its own national interest to protect its southern border from Trump’s America.

  • SilasMarner

Boy, these fucking conservatives are really, really paranoid. Get a grip fuckwads.

  • Hank

When are they going to build Walls in the ocean along the East and West Coasts as well???

  • J Ascher

Regardless of a Canadian border wall, PM Trudeau can have his way with me!

Seriously, though – Canada should build the wall on its side of the border.

    • 2guysnamedjoe

The only problem with that is, you’re cutting off our escape route.

Outside of that, Canada might want to look into* that idea, since we imperil Canada far more than Canada imperils us.

      * “Look into”. Yet another expression I avoid because of (p)resident numbnuts.

  • leastyebejudged

I’m pretty disgusted that you need a passport to return from Canada now, this countries isolationism and idiocy has wrecked a good thing that we had with our closest neighbor.

This kind of thing would have had a massive backlash back before the Sept 11 attack. Look how far the USA has sunk.

  • Danny & Andrew

I’m Canadian & my hubby is American. We got legally married in Canada Nov 2010 & have lived here since. We’re STILL waiting Immigration Canada to finish their paerwork so he can get a status card enabling him to get a job. Don’t assume our Immigration system works perfectly. We’ve had to restart the process many times & have been thru 2 lawyers. Trust me, it’s not fun 7 it’s sure as hell not been easy!

  • Hue-Man

Trump will want to outsource wall protection to the lowest bidder. Fortunately, I’ve identified a group who have the necessary experience.

  • JCF
  • Mark_in_MN

What domestic policies of Trudeau would make such a wall necessary? Do I even want to know what she thinks those might be?

    • Canadian Observer

Probably something to do with the failure to adopt extrajudicial killings (aka drone strikes) as part of Canadian foreign policy… something to do with the rule of law or some other lame excuse /s

  • Canadian Observer

I am getting a little tired with this wall meme. How about a moat, a big ditch, we can flood it and fill it with crack attack beavers – of course that would mean we would needs attempted American infiltrators to scent themselves with something woodsy…

  • fahvel

and along the east and west coasts and all around Hawaii and of course the odd protection for alaska – usa of troglodites

  • HappyDance904

I wish Canada would implement a wall!!!!!

  • Gregory In Seattle

Canada has already been building one.

We can also build thousands of miles of sea walls on the east, west and gulf coasts to protect us from the rising oceans caused by the policies of the moron in the Oval office whose ass the Fox sycophants kiss each day.
