Franklin Graham: I Don’t Hate Gays, I Just Want Them To Know The Truth About Their Evil Sinful Lifestyle

“Why can’t Christians have the freedom to say ‘No’ to what they want to say no to? The LGBT community continues to target Christians to try to get us to accept their lifestyle. It ain’t gonna happen. God calls homosexuality sin — take it up with Him if you don’t like it. He is the one who defines sin, not me. As a Christian of course I don’t hate gays, I love them and want them to know the truth. If they choose to live that lifestyle, they certainly have the freedom to do so in this country — but don’t tell me what I have to believe or participate in.

“I appreciate the fact that Cathy Miller stood up for her beliefs. She’s the owner of Tastries Bakery in Bakersfield, CA, and she refused to go against her convictions and create a custom wedding cake for a same-sex couple. There will be another hearing on February 2, so we need to pray for Cathy and for our religious freedoms to be upheld. The courts should never be able to force Christians to go against what the Word of God teaches.” – Franklin Graham, in a Facebook post that’s been shared over 13,000 times.

  • Joseph Miceli

Franklin doesn’t hate gays, God does! Well, good to know. Now will the reverend be taking his throne on the pile of dead gay kids that he’s responsible for?

  • Boreal

Oh poor Franklin, we already know the truth; sin is an imaginary grift to make money for charlatans like yourself, as for being gay……………….

    • PickyPecker

      Lotta nippleage going on there.

      • Boreal

        • peacfulseas inWA

Strange, I hadn’t noticed it was shot in the kitchen until you mentioned it. I just got new glasses too.

    • gaycuckhubby

Yes, we know it. But there’s a lot of queer kids and a lot of closeted religious people who don’t know it.

      • Todd20036

I could not care less about religious Narniains, but queer kids with parents trying to “fix” them… that bites.

    • ted-

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

Sin does not exist in nature or anywhere in the universe. It has no mass nor substance, no physical location or any other properties. It was a concept invented by extortionist priests who happen to have a monopoly on the only cure – for a price. (Indulgences)

      • 2patricius2

I like these words of Walt Whitman from Song of Myself: “I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contain’d,
I stand and look at them long and long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.”

        • Lars Littlefield

I’m very fond of Walt Whitman. I would like to have known him. My only concern is that he was famous for neglecting his personal hygiene.

          • David Walker

Huh. I always thought he was famous for his poetry.

          • Lars Littlefield

Yup. A poet who could clear a room if the wind wasn’t right. 🙂

          • Lars Littlefield

It’s not a claim. It’s well documented in several biographies and life profiles. Something I was amused about when I encountered it in classes on Walt Whitman and American poets in general when I was an undergraduate. Whitman’s aversion to bathing and topics like the subtext of homosexuality in Huckleberry Finn were sort of my specialty. Anything to do with American authors who were recognized as great, but never acknowledgd as batting for our team. mentioned for our team.

Totally OT, but more important than anything Franklin Graham has to say: These poor boys never seem to be able to find shirts that fit them. Either they’re two sizes too tight, or they don’t finish covering them up. I mention it only in passing. That is, I’m not planning to do anything about it.

    • Jay Silversmith

      It’s sin-sational.

Won’t ever happen. He worships the almighty dollar and fleecing his sheeple.

  • I’m sorry to ask this, but one of you fellas is gonna need to do the LGBT community a solid and give Franklin the thorough reaming he’s obviously been obsessed with receiving his entire post-puberty life.

He really is totally obsessed with Teh Gay. So just be sure to take pictures and we should be done with him forever. #KTHXBAI

    • HZ81

He molested an extra large cheese & sausage.

(No really. Their pizza sucks. )

      • Prost Seattle

        That would improve their flavor.

I have an idea. If someone wants to make their living with pizza, you should at least have had 10 pizzas in Naples so you know how they are supposed to taste. HINT: It isn’t wonderbread with ketchup and spam and shredded velveeta

        • HZ81

I can’t say I’ve had pizza in Naples, but have plenty of Italians in the fam. And they cook. Plus, Chicago is my hometown, so even if you don’t like that thick tomato cake slice, there is plenty to great pizza to choose from.

But true story—PJ’s are open late and one drunken night I went for it. I ordered a pie and cheese garlic bread or something—couldn’t tell them apart visually. As a native, I am ashamed of myself.

        • clay

Being counter-suggestible, I now want to come up with a (good) recipe including “spam and shredded velvets.”

        • Snarkaholic

Here in A.C., it’s CARDBOARD and ketchup.

        • Craig Howell

Aren’t pizzas strictly an invention of the Italian immigrant community right here?

          • Palmer

No, pizzas l, as we know them, were first baked in Naples. But a flat bread, cooked in an oven is known to have been common in Pharonic Egypt, then the Greeks and Romans started topping flat bread with olive oil.

Then in the late 1800s Raffaele Esposito created the first modern pizza, Pizza Margherite, for King Umberto I and his wife, Margherite, when the king visited Naples.

      • Todd20036

The only place I’ll get pizza is when it’s made with organic ingredients, etc.

It’ll be more expensive, but it’s delicious.

Exactly. In a free society, where there is supposed to be “liberty and justice for all”, and under a Constitution that mandates separation of Church and State, you don’t get to go around telling other people how to live their lives. (Well, technically, you do have the right to say it, but you don’t have any lawful way of enforcing it.)

    O/T: Resist.

Two Philadelphia activists swept up in clashes with police during
last year’s protests of President Trump’s inauguration, along with four
co-defendants, were found not guilty Thursday on all charges relating to
    the rioting.

Jennifer Armento, 38, and Oliver Harris, 28, had been charged with
serious federal crimes for destruction of property and rioting even
though they were not accused of specific acts of violence during the
chaos in downtown Washington last January 20, just blocks from the White
House. They and their co-defendants faced the possibility of decades in

The acquittal, which came after a four-week trial in District of
Columbia Superior Court, could affect prosecution decisions for nearly
200 more people awaiting trials on largely the same charges, including
    several more from Philadelphia.

    • Saw a report go by earlier, one of the jurors (anonymously) commenting that as soon as they heard the prosecution’s case summary, they just about unanimously decided right then there was no way they were going to vote to convict. Even if the defense counsel said not a word.

I mean, they were trying to convict *everybody* the police kettled, even though the cops had no evidence anybody they arrested had actually committed any acts of vandalism. It was obviously Trump’s corrupt fascist DoJ trying to make an example of dissenters and to quash the 1st Amendment. And fortunately the jurors saw that immediately.

      • bkmn

Just more of Sessy’s DOJ, the same department that repeatedly tried to prosecute a woman who laughed during his confirmation hearings.

Mr. Graham, your God may define homosexuality as a sin. I won’t dispute your interpretation of God or God’s message. However, as an American I have the right to worship God as I see fit. To interpret Her message as I understand it.

Mr. Graham I believe that judging others as God Clearly admonishes against in the book of Mathew is a grave sin. However since you’re an American I won’t question your right to sin as you see fit.

I walk past that bakery regularly. In the parking lot, they posted signs saying “Tastries, putting Christ back into Christmas.”

I don’t normally go out of my way to have conflict with people, but I do sometimes imagine myself walking in and saying, “I’ll respect your right to follow your conscience if you say, and truly mean, that you’ll respect the rights of same-sex couples to marry, and respect my right to live as I see fit, too.”

I immediately think “what’s the point,” since we all know that their idea of “freedom of conscience” is a one way street — they fancy themselves being entitled to respect from the rest of us, and that we should bend over backward and step aside for their every religious whim, yet they feel no similar Golden Rule-ish moral obligation to return the same sort of respect and consideration for others.

I wonder if this baker stood up for the freedom of conscience of churches and spiritual groups who perform and recognize same-sex marriages?

    I suspect not.

    • Natty Enquirer

What someone really needs to do is walk in and ask them to bake a cake for their Wiccan sabat. Just some roses and “Blessed Be!” Or up the stakes and bake a “Satan is LORD” cake for a black mass. Now whose “religious freedom” are we talking about?

      • Friday

Do try to be careful about commingling Wiccans and Satanists in a sentence like that. And in my experience Christians don’t recognize a ‘Blessed Be’ for a Wiccan phrase, …a number of Christians used to use the same phrasing back when that was just how people talked. 🙂 (And the hypothetical Satanic cake actually would be pretty blatantly coerced religious speech anyway, in ways basically no one would argue against. They can’t force others to proclaim their God as ‘the Lord’ either. 🙂 )

    • 2patricius2

I have no problems with Franklin Graham having his beliefs. And he can say what he believes. But that is not where he ends things. He attempts to restrict my rights and to impose his beliefs into law. Up with that I will not put.

And as far as his “God calls homosexuality a sin,” schtick…That is baloney. He may believe his god calls homosexuality a sin, but that is just his belief. He has no proof that any god exists, much less says that. He has only words in a book, no proof. His beliefs about a god and what that god is saying do not trump my rights to be treated equally in this civil society supposedly based on rights and laws, not fantasies.

Think whatever you effing want. Just do not tell ME how I have to believe, okay?

  • northern_neighbour

Cathy Baker: By refusing to serve a customer who is of some minority, when you serve all other comers, you are by definition hating on them and punishing them for being unlike yourself. Thus you ARE a HATER as well as breaking the law, … what you offer to one paying customer you BY LAW have to offer to any other paying customer. Nothing whatsoever to do with your “religious freedom” you can believe whatever, but your “religious freedom” does NOT include freedom, to discriminate against any member of society who seeks your remunerated public service.

And by turning such clients away your are DISHONOURING YOUR OWN CHRIST, as the bible itself makes abundantly clear. But maybe you are HYSTERICAL, but again that does not give you a licence to hate people and judge and then discriminate. So if you are a HYSTERICAL CHRISTIAN, try to get over yourself.

Franklin Graham: Your remark that you don’t Hate Gays is completely Cancelled Out by your following remarks about God defining gay love/sex whatever as Sin and implying thus that God hates gays and does not accept their “lifestyle” as you put it, and Christians don’t have to accept their lifestyle either, or bake a wedding cake for them. So actually you can’t have it both ways, saying that you don’t hate them, while discriminating against and denouncing them. The only way a Christian would “accept” gay life, is by having gay sex, not by accepting money from a Gay person for baking a cake.

You are not going to their wedding, toasting them, or sharing a marriage bed or sex with them. You are merely baking a cake which you bake for everyone else and taking their lawful money. That is not tantamount to accepting their “lifestyle”. It is tantamount to following standard public business LAW, that prohibits ALL DISCRIMINATION as to who gets to receive service of what you offer to the public FULL STOP. If Christians DISCRIMINATE that is UNLAWFUL. And it is not “Love” for the gay customer, it is actually HATRED.

Another point is that many Christians ARE LGBT, and you are HATING on them as well. GOD in point of fact never wrote any of the Bible, it was written by men who had their own weaknesses, prejudices and forms of Bronze Age bigotry. They may have written against same sex relationships, but GOD did not.

In fact Jesus was reported to have said JUDGE NOT THAT YE BE NOT JUDGED.
And we are told he accepted everyone, provided food and healing, which Evangelicals like yourself do not, and the party you support DOES NOT ACCEPT the poor, the immigrant, the sick, the woman, the gay person, the black person, the Asian person, the struggling single mom, the disabled worker or veteran, or any of the needy despited your much vaunted Samaritan’s Purse. Your GOP party is ripping all mercy and Christian support and health care away from ordinary Americans. FRANKLIN YOU ARE A SUPREME HYPOCRITE, AN ARROGANT HATER BUT IN NO WAY A DECENT CHRISTIAN. AND GOD HIMSELF WOULD DENOUNCE YOU BEFORE ALL MANKIND. And of course a multimillionaire who could not pass through the eye of a needle anymore than a camel could.

Well, you’ve sold me. Now you just have to convince Franklin.

  • Clive Johnson

It’s a part of my personal belief system that the Christian fundamentalist and conservative lifestyle is wrong and goes against my values. Reason, science, and humanistic values abhor this lifestyle and I think an ethical society should work to overcome it.

So, when two competing beliefs are in opposition, we must rely upon the neutrality of the law to settle disputes that might arise. I don’t get to carve out laws that I can follow and not follow, and neither does the conservative Christian or fundamentalist.

Franklin Graham is the ne’er-do-well son of the famous preacher Billy Graham. This recovering cocaine addict walks in his father’s shadow and fancy’s himself as a moral authority. – another Roy Moore without the pedophilia, but with the face of a sourpuss alcoholic. Empowered by his father’s multimillion dollar fortune, he masks his bigotries by condemning gay folks in the name of god. The fact is, he is just another fucking greedy republican and is part of that hypocritical evangelical crowd that empowers Trump, but never lose sight , Franklin Graham is nothing more than another pious evangelical grifter with a highly over rated opinion of his own self importance.

  • Gianni

I love the sanctimonious Christian double-speak: …”I don’t hate gays…” (he left out the next part) …I just can’t stand anything about them and would rather they all just disappeared from the planet so that we, the godly ones, can have it all our own way and make everyone else obey us and subscribe to our beliefs. That’s all, so what’s the problem? I’m all about “truth” and desperately want them to know it! Franklin, why don’t you stop the bullshit. I know of no ‘gay community’ that gives a rat’s ass about whether you ‘too good to be true’ Christians accept our ‘lifestyle’ or not. Besides, it’s not our lifestyle that rubs you all so wrong, it’s really US that riles you fucking bastards because most of us just don’t give a shit what your Bobble says about us and the death we deserve. ….Try minding your own fucking business. It’s been your kind that started this thing, we just decided that we’d had enough of being pushed around by you and yours.

There is no one individual I despise and detest more than this sorry excuse of a man. Not Trump. Not Pence….Brian Brown, Tony Perkins. Perhaps his sister. They are both losers in the first degree.

We will not take it up with God… we will take it to the SCOTUS.

You do not love gays you POS or you would shut your mouth with the constant insults and admonishments of how YOU think we should live our lives. Nobody gives a shit what you think. It is not our problem if you are carried away with the idolatrous cult of bible worship where you have taken a book of mere human writings and turned it into God. We could advise you to give up that graven image, but we don’t out of respect for your right to believe as you wish.

Nobody has ever told you what you have to believe or participate in. Ever. But if you own a business and are open to the public and have received a business license you are going to serve everyone equally. At least if the SCOTUS does it’s job. And if you can’t then you will simply have to shut down and find a new line of work. And I won’t care one iota if it is burdensome to you. Nobody with half a brain believes that baking a cake is a religious rite or ritual or that it affects your beliefs, faith or ability to participate your church one bit.

Nobody cares if Christians accept gays or not. You miss the point entirely, as expected. We intend to insure the laws protect our right to live openly and with dignity (which includes transactions at businesses open to the public). We care what the government rules. Not what you think. And btw, there are many Christian groups and churches that do not agree with you and have opened their hearts and arms to us with full membership rights. You do not represent Christianity to me, and it is clear you do not speak for Christians as a whole, so stop pretending you do, you wanna-be prophet.

  • Okay, Frankie. I’m happy to take this topic up with your god. I’m free most of next week. Say, noonish Tuesday or Wednesday? We’ll have a kiki!

God also says that wearing clothing made out of two kinds of fiber is a sin, and not following the rules of kashrut is a sin, and…. well, just start reading them there laws and see how many you have to get through before God got around to anything to do with sex.

But then again that would require actually reading the Bible and you know the people who go around thumping it ain’t a-gonna do THAT.

I agree. Just as the courts should not have the right to tell a man how many wives he can have. And men should be allowed to beat those wives, too, with impunity. Yeah, Franklin, lets turn the clock back 100 years to those good ole Christian God-fearing days.

  • I could give a rat’s @ss if you “accept” our “sinful lifestyle”. I’d prefer you don’t. Just want you to quit reminding us hourly of your judgment. Just accept we are going to your h3ll and shut up. Your “judgment” is causing immense psychological and emotional harm to millions of LGBTQ people, some of which aren’t strong enough to survive. Their d3aths and blood are on your hands. If you were a true man of god and christ, you’d only lift up – not put down those that need love and not hate.
