ALABAMA: Roy Moore Still Won’t Concede Senate Race Even Though He Has Zero Numerical Chance [VIDEO]

The Associated Press reports:

Republican Roy Moore hasn’t conceded his 20,000-vote loss to Democrat Doug Jones in Alabama’s Senate race, and provisional ballots and military votes still being counted show Moore can’t close the deficit.

Jones beat Moore on Dec. 12 to become the first Democrat elected to the Senate from Alabama in a quarter-century. Moore was beset by allegations of sexual misconduct involving teenage girls decades ago.

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill announced Wednesday that a total of 366 military ballots were returned from overseas and 4,967 provisional ballots were cast. That is short of the 20,000-vote deficit that Moore needs to close.

The state must certify the election by January 3rd.

But wait, there’s more:

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill is investigating a concern over potential voter fraud in last Tuesday’s special Senate election.

It all stems from a brief interview FOX10 News Reporter Kati Weis conducted at the Doug Jones victory party on election night when a young man made a comment that has now gone viral on social media. The interview took place just minutes after the race had been called.

While live on air, in the middle of the crowded party, Kati walked up to a number of jubilant supporters at random, asking them for their reactions to the big win. But, it was this question and answer that has caused controversy:

“Kati: Why are you excited to see this victory? Man: Because, we came here all the way from different parts of the country as part of our fellowship, and all of us pitched in to vote and canvas together, and we got our boy elected!”

Last week Roy Moore launched a fundraising drive, allegedly to help him investigate voter fraud. Some, however, believe those donations will roll over into a 2018 run for the US House.

It’s okay to prey as long as you pray.

    • kaydenpat

We’ve always known who they are so this isn’t all that surprising. Just shows that they have nothing to say to us about morals or values. They can shut up and take several seats with their White Jesus superiority complex.

  • Ben in Oakland

    Roy, dahlin’.
You said god was in control. Are you once again confused that your name is spelled r-o-y and not g-o-d?

  • BobSF_94117

    He just won’t go away.

    • Dramphooey

Like Palin and both are grifters. Maybe his son that keeps getting arrested will beat him up some day.

  • Tawreos

But guys, Jesus told him he was totally going to be senator.

    • vorpal

Maybe he, Ted Cruz, and Ben Carson can form a support group.

      • vorpal

        Opal Covey can come too.

        • Tawreos

Can we just send Opal anywhere even if they don’t form a support group?

          • vorpal

Only if you’re ready to deal with the resultant pots of gold.

I think jesus was actually talking to Jones, but pedo moore was listening at the door, and like most christians moore mistook what jesus said.

    • kaydenpat

He needs to stop listening to White Jesus.

    • Gregory B

I get a lot of pleasure knowing God’s “chosen one” has been humiliated at the polls. A Republican was beaten by a Democrat. In Alabama of all places. Karma can be sweet.

They haven’t had many legislative wins. The more of this news cycle they want to take away from their deficit-expanding tax win for the rich, and focus on such a hateful and harmful failed candidate, I say let them!

  • m_lp_ql_m

Maybe if we just told him he won, even though he didn’t, he’ll finally go away?

  • bkmn

How many times has his kid been arrested? You might think he might want to deal with those issues.

  • clay

“we came here all the way from different parts of the country”

Alabama is one of the “different parts of the country”, so there is NOTHING even suspicious about some of them voting. Those who came from parts of the country outside of Alabama could still canvas.

    • Chucktech

Besides, their Negro-voting-suppression system voter ID system makes it all but impossible for any fraud to take place.

Roy Moore has more chance of picking up a 13-year-old at the mall.

  • WKT20

Is there a reason to care if he concedes? Who gives a shit?

    • clay

It slows the process down a tad. Without a concession, the Sec. of State has to go ahead and count those votes, even knowing it won’t be enough, so they can certify the election.

      • Tomcat

And experience tells us ANYTHING can happen during recounts.

      • Chucktech

A lack of a concession from Roy Moore slows down nothing.

  • sdnative1958

It’s fun to ‘punk’ reporters, especially ones from Fox. *give me a frikkin’ break

    • Chucktech

Besides, isn’t Alabama voter-id’d out the freaking wazoo?? (You know, to help keep all ’em colored folks from voting?) So, a bus load or two from their “fellowship” stole the election? Please…

  • GayOldLady

Again, Roy Moore is the basketball team that loses the tournament, then refuses to leave the court. WHO CARES?

“Voter fraud would be very unlikely as every voter is required to show a photo ID when casting a vote.” HA! That moment when voter ID laws are used against Republicans.

    • Dramphooey

They’ve done everything to discourage registration and intimidate voters and we’re supposed to believe a dark skinned guy from wherever waltzed in and voted. Uh huh.

  • gaycuckhubby

    Lol. Assholes.
Yes, people probably came from all over the country to canvas. That’s their right too.

  • Joe in PA

I’m waiting for McTurtle to try to use this as an excuse not to seat Jones. Sigh.

    • charemor

I am sure he will delay as long as possible.

  • Karl Dubhe 2

Does he actually need to recognize that he lost?

    He’s just a sore loser.

    • Joe in PA

Supposedly not…but that doesn’t mean they won’t try.

  • Tawreos

I am surprised he hasn’t pulled out his wife’s gun and tried to force them to call him the winner.

  • Andymac3

Must be awkward being the big loser at the GOP class reunion

  • Dramphooey

“Last week Roy Moore launched a fundraising drive, allegedly to help him investigate voter fraud. Some, however, believe those donations will roll over into a 2018 run for the US House.” It was a year ago Jill Stein grifted money from shattered and desperate people. It’s nice to see it being done to scum a year later.

    • prixator

But, it might turn out to be another House seat pick-up for the Dems in 2018 (though, would Alabamian Repubs be stupid enough to nominate him again? 50/50 eh?).

  • One stray comment by one rando can hold up certification of an election with a statistically significant margin?

    (A) Any Moore supporter could claim to have committed voter fraud for Jones to hold things up.

    (B) It is not illegal for people from out of state to come in and campaign for a particular candidate, drive people to the polls, etc. His comment could easily mean out of staters helped canvass with in staters who voted.

    • DrRobY

And what if students were coming home to vote?

      • Todd20036

Or he was being metaphorical? A lot of people from outside did help – either through financial or emotional support, even though only Alabamians actually voted.

Honestly. The Nazis are so fucking desperate to cheat.

  • Lazycrockett

    Bitter, table for 1.

  • Nate

That quote means nothing, it was poorly phrased maybe. That is all though.

  • Lots of sound and fury, but a proper investigation would end up highlighting Republican efforts to kick legit voters (in mostly black areas) off the rolls by labeling them “inactive.” I’m guessing the RNC would rather not see those headlines.

    • Tawreos

They haven’t worried about it in the past, why would they start now?

    • Tread

We’re talking about a “proper investigation” in Alabama, where the GOP runs the state. Good luck with that.

  • William of Glynn

    Jesus abhors a sore loser.

    • Dramphooey

But he loves a money making scheme!

  • BeaverTales

I know how he feels. Once upon a time I had a paycheck coming, but it fell through because of a crappy CEO who drove his company into bankruptcy before paying his contractors. In my mind, I had already spent the money. This grifter had the senate seat in his mind and all the perks that come with it as well. He’s got bills to pay…big legal ones.

    • Dramphooey

The fun thing about Roy’s business, though, is that it is next to impossible to bankrupt the company. Jimmy Swaggart was exposed as a fraud but one tearful confession later and the business is still afloat. Roy and his family will continue to draw a paycheck from his rubes, who filed out of the funniest election night party I ever saw streamed and repeated, like automatons, his crap about the military vote. Oh, sometimes they go bankrupt but you just have to collect unemployment until the next start up, just like PTL went under but along come the survival slop buckets.

      • BeaverTales

The smarter grifters usually have more than one scam going at once. Since the Senate seat fell through, I’m guessing he’ll open up a new and wildly popular Alabama ministry.

      • TominDC

IMO that’s really not a bad thing.

Any district that’d vote for him wouldn’t elect anyone who is remotely progressive. And when they’re stuck with Moore, it’d make the republican party just a little more offensive to independents and those who’re on the verge of leaving the party.

  • josephsinger

Roy Moore has psychological problems. He needs treatment.

  • pch1013

As I said last week – he’s going to go to Washington and make a “last stand” on the Capitol steps; the video of him being dragged away by Capitol police as he tries to take “his” seat in the Senate will be worth millions in additional donations from enraged little old white ladies.

  • shellback

  • motordog

I know it’s December, but I never thought Alabama had such big snowflakes…

  • Snarky

Of COURSE Moore isn’t going to concede. Remember, he’s from the South, where pickup trucks have bumper stickers that feature a cartoon Confederate soldier with the phrase “Forget, hell!” Where Confederate statues were erected as part of the “Lost Cause” movement. Generations of these people have been marinating in resentment over losing a war more than 150 years ago. Their side signed an unconditional surrender, and they don’t recognize it.

Pair that sentiment with what Moore doubtlessly thought was his divinely-given right to that Senate seat and of course he wouldn’t recognize losing this election.

    • Halou

He doesn’t have to concede. Once the vote is officially certified and, given the fact the he apparently has no legal standing for an official recount, it will be official and Jones goes to the Senate.
