FEC Filing Shows Trump’s Re-Election Committee Paid Junior’s Russia Probe Lawyer $238K In Third Quarter

Bloomberg reports:

President Donald Trump’s re-election committee paid almost $238,000 in the third quarter to the law firm representing Donald Trump Jr. in connection with ongoing investigations of Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to campaign finance disclosures.

Trump’s campaign made two payments — one in mid July, the other in early August — to the law firm of Alan S. Futerfas, a lawyer for the president’s son, who is facing scrutiny over a 2016 meeting he had with a Russian lawyer while seeking damaging information about Democrat Hillary Clinton. The third-quarter disclosures with the Federal Election Commission didn’t specify what the legal expenses were for. Futerfas declined to comment. The Trump campaign and the White House didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Trump’s campaign paid $1.1 million for legal services from July to September, up from $677,827 in the second quarter and $249,344 in the first, according to the disclosures. The bulk went to Jones Day, the campaign’s law firm, and $25,885 was paid to the Trump Corporation, now run by Trump Jr. and his brother, Eric.

Will Junior go down before his criminal daddy?

    • Mark

      or on his prison daddy?

      • 3-Star

        Clever.

  • Gay Fordham Prep Grad

Well, at least they are getting paid, few people who work for a Trump are so lucky.

    • Frostbite

Yeah, well, the one people you do want to make sure are getting paid are the lawyers keeping your ass out of jail. Especially when you’re so pretty like him.

      • -M-

        1) Donald Sr has been known to stiff his own lawyers.

        2) I wouldn’t be surprised if the Drumpfs were getting a kick back from the other people’s money they’re spending on lawyers.

    Trump’s creating jobs!
    For Lawyers.

  • Stogiebear

The longer this family is in the White House the more I wish to see guillotines lining the Mall.

    • Harley

And everyone beheaded must wear a Marie Antoinette dress.

    • Dazzer

      Couldn’t disagree more.

As I point out continuously, guillotines were created to make executions cleaner, faster and less painful for the convicted.

I want to go back to the good old days when executions were carried out by drunk old men who had to be bribed to get the head off the spine in two strokes from the inevitably blunt axe, rather than hacking away for six or seven blows until the head could be partially severed.

      • LatrinaDiBucca

These animals should be put in zoos, on the business side of the enclosures. Let them live by the Law of the Jungle in less-polite society.

        • Dazzer

True. My problems with Americans is that they’re all too kind and sweet and merciful to each other.

They need some real history to understand how to punish criminals.

And it’s not like I’m being really nasty or inhumane. The Ottomans used to sew their accused into sacks along with specially bred foot-long maggots and hang them from the castle walls. In my view, that’s just cruel and unnatural punishment.

*Dazzer* waves and blows kisses to all Americans 🙂

  • Kevin Perez

All those $40 MAGA caps going to pay for swampy lawyers. Couldn’t happen to a nicer party.

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

“Billionaire” Daddy has no money to pay for his son’s defense, Loser! Sad!

    • Tawreos

Why pay for it yourself when there are plenty of suckers to pay it for you.

      • LatrinaDiBucca

Wonder how much in donation was diverted from the cancer foundation?

      • Scott MB

The sad thing is the donars don’t care where the money goes. I agree if it is for a campain it MUST be used for the campain and not extra curricular things. Lawyers for defence of someont that is not running for office has zero to do with tRump’s re-election bid.

The saddest part is that this is 100% legal and it shouldn’t be!

    • clay

“Billionaire” son has no money to pay for his own defense?

      • Skokieguy [Larry]

Killing endangered species isn’t cheap ya’ know.

        • Harveyrabbit

Before you know it he’ll have to go back to his old cheap kick of killing local pound puppies.

  • netxtown

If ya got nothing to hide – why spend that kind of money on attorneys?…

    • lattebud

Cause a Trump can’t wipe their own ass without an attorney

  • Harveyrabbit

So Uday is the expensive and troublesome one. He’d better be keeping an eye on Qusay, I expect him to be plotting something right about now. With Uday out of the way Qusay stands to benefit g̶r̶e̶a̶t̶l̶ey bigly.

  • Treant

It’s best that they spend it on lawyers instead of on actual re-election.

Amusingly, it ends up reducing what’s going to be available for actual re-election in 2020. Either they assume they won’t need it due to having destroyed the democracy enough that there’s no more voting, or the fix is already in.

    • CanuckDon

Either spend it on lawyers or marketers….one promotes all the lies, the other to pay for it.

  • GayOldLady

That’s a drop in the bucket compared to what they’re going to be paying lawyers. Junior going to prison, Junior going to prison!

  • Karl Dubhe

I would have thought that spending money raised for an election campaign would be spent on actually electing someone. Why would you allow a politician to use that money to pay someone else’s legal bills?

This sounds like fraud to me.

    • clay

He ain’t gonna’ get re/elected if they start putting his kids & cronies in the clinker.

      • Joe in PA

That bar is WAY TOO LOW. 🙁

    • The_Wretched

It should be a big scandal that the news makes some hay over. “Misuse of funds” or something.

  • DaddyRay

Yet no word on if the RNC is paying Rancid Penis’s legal bills after spending several years as the RNC chair

            He IS a sore ass

Might I suggest shacking him up with a wild bear, a wild lion and a wild elephant. Not so tough without that hunting rifle, eh kiddo?

    • JCF

      Perfect!

  • Joe in PA

And $25K paid to Trump Corp. Nice work if you can get it, eh? As the wicked witch of the west says as she’s dying…what a world, what a world.

    Unfuckingbelievable.

    • Tawreos

The wicked witch is dying? What happened to Kellyanne?

      • M Jackson

  • TexasBoy

Lock Him Up! Lock Him Up!

  • Halou

That’s an awful lot of money being misused to defend the mob boss and his son from what Trumpanzees call a “nothing burger”.

  • Bluto

Why isn’t this scum in jail? (rhetorical)

  • The_Wretched

The election laws need fixed. Using the campaign as a family slush fund is not ok. It’s clear they have replaced their ‘charity’ with the campaign.

  • JWC

    This scum has to go

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

Ok…it’s been 9 months with just over 3 years to go…”re-election committee?” And what about the obvious con being pulled here regarding what is clearly a slush fund. How is any of this legal? America, you need to look at changing your campaign funding laws…but first, you need to vote out as many rethugs as possible in 2018. So again, as repetitive as it is…. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/958347f509207651d926c929e8f2a10116857a64c17ddeca5dc32cfb2920c047.jpg
