White House Advisor: Trump Didn’t Denounce Nazis Because He Didn’t Want To Dignify Their Name [VIDEO]

The Hill reports:

White House homeland security adviser Tom Bossert on Sunday defended President Trump’s decision to not specifically name hate groups in his condemnation of the violence at a white supremacist rally one day earlier in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday.

“The president not only condemned the violence and stood up at a time and a moment when calm was necessary and didn’t dignify the names of these groups of people, but rather addressed the fundamental issue,” Bossert told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”

  • olandp

    Total and utter BULLSHIT!

  • Carl

Well sure. It’s not like they were Rosie O’Donnel or Mika Brzezinski.

  • ChrisInKansas

Yes, I’m sure Trump did that on purpose. He’s known for being thoughtful like that.

    • Silver Badger

Yep. Everybody says that his biggest fault is that he is just too darn nice! /s (Gag, heave, choke.)

    • crewman

It’s why he was quick to denounce the birther movement.

      • Nowhereman

…laughing… Say, isn’t his crack team of investigators still in Hawaii, not believing what they are finding?

        • David Walker

Yes, it’s incredible. We should be hearing from them any day now.

What? Is denouncing white supremacists will dignify their name?

    Oh please.

    The operative word is denouncing.

Edit: But, of course, Trump cannot denounce hateful Christians or racists. They are his base.

    • Nowhereman

Exactly. The white right we saw in action yesterday IS Trump’s base. If he loses them, his ratings will be in single digits. And how do you like how he is running campaign ads for 2020 already! Good Grief.!

Right, denouncing Islamic terrorism dignifies their name…..mmmkkkk.

          • Bj Lincoln

I’m tired of cleaning. Just dusted and vacuumed yesterday.

          • Silver Badger

Yes, but when was the last time you moved that stove and fridge?

          • Nowhereman

Oh stop! (I am laughing my head off)

          • SFBruce

No one would accuse me of being overly obsessed with cleaning, but I just cleaned under both of ours. We just got a new stove, so, of course, we cleaned the crud that had accumulated there, and the fridge had to be moved for another issue, so I took care of that, too. But I’m sure that’s the last time I will ever do that particular task.

If the GOP are trembling at the idea of being confronted over Trumpcare, they now should have people asking them about Nazis at town halls. This is also an issue that people should call their district office and tie up the phone lines. They should be asked:

    1. Do you support the Nazis in Charlotteville?
    2. If you didn’t put out a message condemning this, why not?
    3. What are you going to do to prevent more of this from happening?
    4. I don’t believe Jeff Sessions is going to do anything. What are you doing to make sure he does.
    5. Your party is now linked to racism and bigotry. How do you feel about that?

I’m not expecting miracles here but at the very least they should be made nervous about this and I think a triple whammy of Dumpcare, Dancing with Nazis and the fact that Trump hasn’t done shit about opioids is a sour batch they should have to eat.

So now that donnie and his klan are out of the closet – and proudly parading through the streets – I know if I don’t stand up to this shit that there is no hope. There would be no hope of curtailing their short parade. And I will be goddamned before I give in to these bloody assholes.

So, in short order, I will also be “locked and loaded” – and ready to fight these assholes in the street where ever they may be. There are MORE of us than their paltry numbers – or we wouldn’t be who we are. This is the United States of America – NOT donnie’s klandom.

I want to know if Bannon or Miller or Gorka had a hand in writing what Trump wrote, or if his dementia-addled mind was able to come up with that racism all by itself.

You notice the advisor didn’t specify which group Trump didn’t want to dignify. If you watch the interview in its entirely, it took the asshole ten minutes to specifically denounce white supremacists and that was only grudgingly after Tapper asked him multiple times if he would do so.

    • SFBruce

And when he finally did so, he had to do it with a dig at Tapper in the process. I think Tapper is one of the best, and more respectful interviewers in cable news. He always gives his interviewee plenty of time to make his or her point, and at the same time doesn’t hesitate to point out errors. Throughout this interview, Bossert made disparaging remarks about the nature of Tapper’s questions, just like most of the people who speak for what’s-his-name.

OT: Here’s a small sour chuckle about Ivanka.

“On Thursday, President Trump announced that his eldest daughter would head
the U.S. delegation at November’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit in southern India, a three-day event designed to encourage collaboration and “lasting relationships” between American business leaders and investors with international counterparts, according to a statement released by the U.S. State Department.

Bobby Gosh, editor of the Hindustan Times tweeted that an Indian diplomat, whose name he didn’t reveal, remarked on Ivanka: “We regard Ivanka Trump the way we do half-wit Saudi princes. It’s in our national interest to flatter them.”

  • SFBruce

Denouncing white supremacists and Nazis should be the easiest, least controversial thing any American politician could ever say or do, unless, of course, they happen to be a central part of your base. A man who has no problem calling an attack Islamic terrorism seconds after the event, and long before there are any actual facts, can’t bring himself to denounce David Duke and his ilk by name. Even slime balls like Ted Cruz and Jeff Sessions can do it, but not the little man in the White House who look smaller every day.

  • bkmn
  • Nope. Just more lies.

    1. This is another of his minion spokesgoblins saying what they want us to believe Donald meant and not what he actually said.

    2. Donald won’t disavow the Nazis and white supremacists not just because they’re the most solid core of his supporter base, but really because their beliefs align perfectly with his own. In case we’ve forgotten:

    – He’s on video in an interview saying he believes in eugenics and superior genetics
    – His earliest history in real estate included being sued because he refused to rent to African Americans
    – TO THIS DAY, he still believes the confessions beaten out of the Central Park Five (all African American young males) constitute sufficient evidence to imprison and execute them, even though they were completely exonerated by DNA testing and the actual perpetrator confessed
    – It’s been widely reported Donald doesn’t read much, but he allegedly has a collection of Hitler’s speeches and does read those
    – His sole African American cabinet appointment was Ben Carson, whom he assigned to HUD for the purpose of destroying the depatement
    – His AG is Jeff Sessions, who previously failed to win confirmation as a judge in the 1980s for being too overtly racist
    – Not a single one of Donald’s nominees for federal judgeships has been anything other than white and about 90% of the time, male
    – He repeatedly told his supporters to get violent with protesters

This situation is NOT Donald just fearing losing support of the Nazis and racists, although that’s a small part of it. It’s also because they’re his people.

The “violence on all sides” remarks from yesterday were not his words. They were as much as his staff could make him say in prepared remarks because they all knew something needed to be said, but it’s beyond clear he never wanted to say those words. And he still doesn’t mean them.

Don’t fall for the gas-lighting. We know what we heard. President Trump didn’t just hire Nazis to serve in his administration. For all intents and purposes, he is one too.

    • Pat

His father was arrested at a KKK rally in 1926. Shithead was raised in a house that, while his father may not have ever attended another rally, he certainly did promote the same sense of white superiority and contempt for everyone else that is fundamental to the KKK. Shithead had a choice: he could reject that, or he could absorb it and make it his own worldview. Everything he’s done before getting into office, i.e. denying housing to black applicants and after, I.e. hiring white supremacists, neo_Nazis points to the choice he made. He should be finished politically after this and if the GOP who are privately whinging about how uncomfortable they are with his craziness had the balls, they’d take this opportunity to get him out.
