Nordstrom Dumps Ivanka Trump’s Line

The New York Times reports:

Ivanka Trump stilettos will soon be harder to find at Nordstrom. The department store chain said on Thursday that it had decided to put the brakes on its relationship with Ms. Trump and removed her brand from a list on its site. “We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance,” Nordstrom said in a statement. “In this case, based on the brand’s performance, we’ve decided not to buy it for this season,” referring to the spring.

A spokesman for the brand disputed Nordstrom’s assertion that it had not bought clothes for the coming season. The move comes amid an effort by what is called the #GrabYourWallet campaign to encourage shoppers to boycott products with ties to President Trump, his family and his donors. Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry had its own sprawling location in Manhattan for several years, but was not profitable enough to stay open and shuttered in 2015. A small store now sells her jewelry in the lobby of Trump Tower.

Macy’s still carries her handbags.

  • geoffalnutt

Shit! Now where ever will I get them?!

    • DaddyRay

Have you tried a White Supremacist Outlet Mall

    • hudson11

Apparently our own Hudson’s Bay Co still carry her schmattas. I think you can order on line.

    • Tawreos

You will probably be able to find them at whitehouse.gov before too long.

    • Uncle Mark

I’m sure you can buy them through the “new & improved” White House website or in the gift shop in the front entrance of the White House

    • ebay? /s

    • Nowhereman

Maybe the Duck Dynasty guys will be carrying them.

  • Mark

    Bwahahahahaha

  • Rex

I was so looking forward to the Ivanka gas masks and her bomb shelter accessories. Too bad.

    • David Walker

I have no doubt whatsoever that Walmart is ready to pounce on this opportunity.

      • Bj Lincoln

Right next to the Duck Dynasty crap.

      • Oh, Parker

Well it would certainly fit the demo her family is now catering to. I mean, how many Trump supporters know where the nearest Nordstrom is? Or Macy’s, for that matter.

        • seant426

Do they know how to spell “Nordstrom”?

          • cleos_mom

The name does sound like something you’d need a prescription to buy.

        • David Walker

Your point is well taken. For our area’s rednecks’ convenience, Macy’s is the other anchor store in a large (for us) mall. The other being Bass Pro.

        • Oh’behr

Ah, dang, so that’s why Macy’s is closing in downtown Minneapolis. Ivanka’s stuff never sold well there.

      • Oh’behr

Well, also perhaps Floyd’s Get Yer Guns and Survival Stuff will have her stuff out on Route 666 in Diablo, they have several branches there locally. Don’t mind Floyd’s tail. He’s not self-consciousness about it yet says it hurts when mere mortals step on it and it flicks. He hates when people scream when the tail moves in reaction to people bumping it or stepping on it or when they encounter his tail. Sad when he turns them into a pile of ash, yet he really doesn’t need their cash.

        • David Walker

          Praise Floyd!

      • Sashineb

I saw a couple of her blouses on the end of racks at Winners last week. Did I see anybody interested in them? Noooo.

    • Todd20036

People who shop at Nordstrom aren’t looking for cheaply made, tasteless crap

  • Rex

This versatile jacket goes from day to evening, perfect for when you’re detained at the airport trying to enter the country.

More Trump family bankruptcy on the horizon?

    We can hope.

    • DaddyRay

      So business as usual

    • Joe Maynard

Any Trump-related bankruptcies will be spun by Kellyann Botox. “People said Mr. Trump would take advantage of his position. But Chuck, this bankruptcy proves that Mr. Trump and his family mismanage their businesses honestly and stiff their suppliers and employees in the most transparent way in full compliance with our laws!”

      • Nowhereman

Of course in another week or so we won’t have any more laws. Funny how The Donald can send out 4-5 executive orders per day and the GOPTP has no effing problem with it at all. I remember back in the old days 4 weeks ago, executive orders were over-reaching and the spawn of the devil.

        • IamM

Suddenly the President doesn’t need Congress to pass laws or even to authorize spending.

When’s it going to occur to those assholes they’re putting themselves out of a job by humoring the White House fascists?

I hope all those 8 year old Chinese workers still get paid.

    • DaddyRay

They weren’t going to get paid anyhow

      • “You call this quality work? Look, there is a thread here and a skipped stitch there. No pay this month!”

    • Uncle Mark

Actually, she moved their manufacturing to Ethiopia last year, because Chinese works cost 5 times more than the Ethiopians. I wonder if there will be a heavy tariff on her foreign-made crap per her daddy’s policy? /s

      • If not, then it’s time to rebel!

        • GayOldLady

It was time to rebel on 1/20/17

          • I just hope that we can keep the protests up. It’s time for everyone to call, fax, email their folks in DC to keep the heat on them. It worked for their plan to sell off the 3.3 million acres of public lands, why wouldn’t it work for other things as well?

          • GayOldLady

You’re so right. I’ve called my 2 Senators every day they’ve been at work. Yesterday the Washington lines were busy all day long. Finally I had to call their State Office to lodge my complaint.

      • ByronK

        3 fiddy a day!

      • David Walker

And bribing officials costs less, too. I bet we’ll see these savings reflected in the retail price.

        • Uncle Mark

Hooray…over-priced, cheap hooker shoes for less !!

          • Nowhereman

            Daddy will be so proud.

      • Nowhereman

        Of COURSE not! That’s different!

when they pass the christian bullying bill…they can track which businesses are not serving us. cause im gonna want to know so i can alert my very large family .

      • Oh, Parker

Yeah, that bill is going to backfire on them in a big way. It’s not like the 1950s where black families traveling in the south had to carry extra cans of gas in the trunk because some filling stations wouldn’t pump for them. Almost everything these days is self-service and there’s always shopping online. The old religious nuts with a family-owned bakery or flower shop on the corner are already vulnerable enough in this economy without being boycotted for assholism.

We need to be more worried about equal access to employment, healthcare and housing, and even then a lot of that will be protected by the courts.

        • pj

i was trying to suggest a clearing house for all anti gay discrimination should it happen. there should be one place to record any person or organization, with details. the internet makes this possible so gay people and their supporters can know who is doing this to us. they should know we are not going to take this and until the crazies are chased out of government we will take names.

          • Oh, Parker

We have an app in Indiana that you can use to identify which businesses are pro-equality, called Open for Service. It came about as part of the backlash against Pence’s RFRA law here, which is no doubt going to play a role in shaping the national one. We need an app like this nationwide that also shows hostile businesses, you’re right.

          • pj

thats it exactly. if we put a price on their bigotry they will think twice. in the end that is really all they care about.

          • Blake Jordan

The national app should also include who owns the bigoted shops, etcetera so other equality minded shops, etcetera know whoto fuck with!!!

Not only will the bigots businesses go under, but the owners will be turned into pariahs…

          • cleos_mom

That’s one side of it, but to really be effective there would need to be info about LGBT-friendly businesses. For people living in rural areas there aren’t many options without a long drive.

        • Nowhereman

I live in a state where I can now get married, (thanks, Obama!) but I can be kicked out of my rental and fired from a job just because I’m gay.

All this anti-muslim rhetoric coming out of the new White House is going to cause a YUGE mess. He’s risking American security by exposing dozens of big shiny soft targets with his buildings all over the world including in Muslim countries like Turkey, Indonesia, The United Emirates, etc.

Fortunately for Trump, America is doing better than ever. Obama passed health care reform, the stimulus, wall street reform, and turned around the auto industry. We have now finally recovered from Bush’s economic collapse in ’08.

Thanks to Obama, my health insurance is finally affordable ($85/month). I can afford college. I can afford internet ($30/month), auto insurance ($25/month from Insurance Panda), and my rent. Trump will DESTROY our economy. I fear for our future.

Could these Trumpies be anymore ignorant of the world? He’s Not My President!

“In this case, based on the brand’s performance, we’ve decided not to buy it for this season,”

How much do you want to bet this is a subtle dig at the “Trump brand” in general (i.e. Donald Trump himself) and not just Ivanka’s shoe line?

  • FancyThat

This is just another formality to shore up other external obligations so that Ivanka may devote all of her time as principle advisor and heir apparent to the president. Why settle for running s business when you can partner with the Bannon franchise and run a country? As dynasties go, she’s no doubt anxious to eventually change her monogram from FDOTUS to POTUS.

    YES!!!!!

    that is all.

  • cleos_mom

They can dress it up any way they want. Any product attached to the name of a living person turns into kryptonite if that person publicly makes enemies. When Anita Bryant started her anti-gay crusade, the Florida orange juice producers, for whom she’d made commercials, dropped her like a turd they’d accidentally picked up off the ground. She complained about being punished for her beliefs but she had become useless to the industry — people no longer thought “orange juice” when they heard her name. They might insist that politics had nothing to do with it but that’s like insisting that annual rainfall has no connection to how much rain gear you’re stocking.

    • david fairfield

They warned her after her first anti gay rant. They gave her a chance to stop. It was in her contract that any public political commentary would be a deal breaker. It was her henchmen who conned her into being their anti gay mouthpiece who convinced her that speaking engagements would be lucrative wille simultaneously helping the children. So she went down in a ball of flames, and took poor Orange Bird with her. (she evidently didn’t know he was gay) At Disney World everything with her image was removed from Sunshine Terrace and Orange Bird was on his own. That’s what happens.

      • jsmukg

Not surprising for a bitch both too ugly and too stupid even to win Miss America….

        • david fairfield

That’s harsh. I wouldn’t describe her as ugly, she was quite beautiful. Stupid, yes.

          • jsmukg

I completely disagree. A large, very unattractive cow.

          • david fairfield

I get it. The problem is that if she had been a gay ally, you would not be so quick to be harsh. I’m looking at it from the perspective of being non judgmental, even though she certainly was judgmental. It’s easy to make a blanket statement and more difficult to find a quality in those we do not like, but I call it as I see it, she was not ugly, or a cow, and she does a more than exceptional version of the song. Otherwise I think she’s a hateful bigot.

          • jsmukg

Nope. You do not know me, and your speculations on my judgments are not only unfounded but ignorant, as is your blanket generalization about ‘our’ behavior. she was ugly, a cow, and she ruins the song. Those facts are not linked to her bigotry, and that is all.

          • david fairfield

Ok. Thanks for letting me know. I respect your opinion.

          • Gianni

Those aren’t what I’d call facts. They’re your assessments of her looks and singing based on your feelings. Perfectly fine, but they aren’t automatically everyone else’s. Can’t be called facts. Each of us has likes and dislikes that can’t be labeled like that. The only fact is that we, as individuals, have our own feelings, thoughts, and judgements of such things.

          • jsmukg

The other poster stated–as fact–his opinions. I did the same, given that approach from him. Everyone in the world does not judge based solely on emotion and gut feeling. There are many, many criteria applicable to judgment of looks, singing, and behavior–criteria which make up a generally held view of quality, in most cases– and to say that everyone’s opinion, likes, and dislikes are equally valid on these or any other matters is preposterous. That attitude is part of what brought us dRUMPf, by the way. In the areas of proper singing and of what makes a woman beautiful particularly by beauty-pageant standards I have vast experience and much knowledge. Thank you so much for your opinion.

      • alguien

then, she and her second husband proceeded to travel across the south, opening failed dinner theater after failed dinner theater, declaring bankruptcies and leaving piles of unpaid bills and employees as well as city treasuries emptied of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Oh yeah, the aftermath is as entertaining as the pre-pie stuff. But, not being one to ignore credit where it’s due, she sings a mean version of Fly Me to the Moon…probably my favorite version.

          • alguien

            check out chris connors’ version

          • david fairfield

Yes, love this version as well!!

          • jsmukg

Sorry. Her ‘singing’ was as lamentable as her appearance, though nothing could quite equal her appalling behavior.

          • david fairfield

I refer specifically to this song and am not praising her overall work. As a singer, she could have used more vocal training for sure. Her behavior was ugly, that I give you.

Nordstrom makes bad business decisions. Nobody makes worse decisions than Nordstrom. Nobody. They won’t be around much longer, believe me. Sad.
