HiFi Sean ft. Paris Grey – Lost Without You [VIDEO]

Early last month I introduced you to gay DJ, producer, and woofy bear HiFi Sean with his techno collaboration with B-52s frontman Fred Schneider, the video for which gave some of you a Kansas City Trucking Company vintage porn vibe.

Today the former frontman for Britain’s Soup Dragons is back with a sparkling old school house number with vocals provided by Paris Grey of Inner City, who gave us the two of the biggest house hits of the late 80s, Good Life and Big Fun. You’ll like this.

As I noted in the comments of last month’s post, HiFi Sean has quite the coming out storyLost Without You is available on iTunes today with remixes by Ralph Rosario, Horse Meat Disco, and others. Perfect for summer lounging.

any other audiophiles here that find it hilarious that he is called “hifi” sean?

still, congrats to him for making music, which he clearly enjoys, and for doing it proudly as a fearless gay man. can’t fault that. plus, i assume the ‘hifi’ moniker is similar to the moniker of killer mike, who i am fairly certain has never killed anyone.

    • JoeMyGod

Sean dropped in here last time, so maybe he’ll give us the backstory on his name.

      • Sean Dickson

        hullo

    • Jeb

After The Soup Dragons split Sean started a band called The High Fidelity. HiFi Sean is a nickname associated with the band, not high-end audio gear.

    • Sean Dickson

its a name …just like your called guest ….which is also a nice name

  • another_steve

    I like big hairy monsters.

Being a fey and scrawny piece of shit myself, they excite me.

    • Good Shot Green

      W O O F !

This kind of music doesn’t much appeal to me but that’s one smokin’ hot man bear. Wuf wuf wuf.

  • Lars De

Sold! If he’s released anything that I’m not absolutely in love with I’m not at all aware of it. And even though it has no bearing on his music the man is sexy as fuck!

    • JoeMyGod

I think he spins for the traveling Bearacuda parties sometimes so maybe you can tell him in person. 😉

      • Lars De

I’m sure he’d be wearing far to many clothes to be able to hear me correctly.

        • Sean Dickson

I am naked right now , does that help ?

          • UiscePreston

No, be in some leather for Pete’s sake.

          • jsmukg

            Talk to me.

          • Lars De

            It surely doesn’t hurt!

          • WilloSF

I just love that you’re in this thread

  • MattM

Posing in front of the Castro Theatet, I see.

    • Lars De

      …and seriously overdressed.

  • Jeb

This is beautiful. Time to put an Inner City playlist back on my phone.

    • JoeMyGod

Sean just told me he’ll be spinning at Dore Alley this weekend. I’d totally be there if I didn’t have to go to Philly.

      • pch1013

Dore Alley is next weekend (7/31). You could still make it!

        • JoeMyGod

          Ooh! Looking at calendar….

      • Jeb

        I’ll certainly be there!

  • blackmahn

This is a seriously great song, but it really makes me sad that with all the people featured in the video, there’s not one single Black person. And that’s the height of irony since the genre of music is directly from Black gay culture. I’m not trying to make a thing here. But it was striking to me as I watched the video.

    • Sean Dickson

It was shot in Amsterdam about a real couple in the video and their real friends , nothing was planned or acted out

Amber Franklin?!? OK, what have you done with Mary?

      • Prixator

Your song and video made me cry and feel. Something about it took me back to some wonderful time in my life that has been long gone. So, thank you for those few minutes.

        • Sean Dickson

that alone makes every minute of making this record worth it ….thank you …one of the most beautiful things anyone has said about a song I have written x

    • J.

I just played the video, and noticed this straight away.

  • Circle Thomas

From the bio, talking about the Soup Dragons:

“In 1992, at the height of their pop success, they found themselves nominated for a coveted MTV Music Video Award for their hit; Divine Thing. They were robbed that night, however, when they lost to an unknown band that has long since vanished into obscurity, Nirvana.”

    LOLZ.

  • MrRobotoLA

I like this much more than Truck.

  • Bluto

You had me at woofy bear, Joe.

  • rusty57

    Very nice.

  • Jeffrey

Soup Dragons was one of my groups in college that I listened to. Apparently I’m old! But he’s hot AF so I don’t care.

    • Latebrosus

Their cover of “I’m Free” was very fun to dance to. Ah, those baggy Madchester days.

  • Dale082

Ooo, I like this! It sounds like Summertime!

  • Sean Dickson

It was my email address when I was in The High Fidelity ‘Hifi Sean’ I was asked to Dj at a club and they asked for a DJ name ….I was lazy and picked my email address

  • Scott Fitler

Thanks for sharing — love this! Love a song that makes you dance even if you’re sitting down. Or going down. town that is.

  • WilloSF

Was that photo taken in front of the Castro Theater?

    • Sean Dickson

      yep

  • Pollos Hermanos

I enjoy this but I’ve been programmed to. It’s got good bass, a soulful singer, and synth.

I like it but it’s nothing new to me. I could have danced to this at 3AM at Probe in West Hollywood.

  • SpiderPIG

    This is so good!

  • Gerry Fisher

    grrrrr

  • KaBoomBOX

Flashback to dancing on a box in a swimsuit and doc martins at sweatbox with the Pound Boys spinning. Good times. Good times.
