Pat Robertson: Satan Is Behind The Battle To Maintain The Separation Of Church And State [VIDEO]

But you knew that. Right Wing Watch recaps the response to the above viewer question:

Robertson said that such groups exclusively target Christians because “they understand Christianity is where the power is — the power doesn’t exist in Islam, the power doesn’t exist in Baha’i or any of these fringe religions.”

“They fight against Christianity because Christianity touches the souls of people and the devil regards Christianity as a threat, and of course it is a threat because we’re going to overturn him and his kingdom.”

  • Enrico Webers

So many christians, so few lions.

    • RobynWatts

Those poor lions…..having to eat junk food.

      • Christopher

  • Stev84

The US isn’t an islamic, jewish or hindu theocracy. It’s a de facto Christian theocracy. Christians are targeted because they have all the power and are the majority everywhere.

    • AJayne

Christians FEEL targeted because they are the only ones trying to force their religion on this secular country and being told that’s not going to happen.

  • Good Shot Green

It’s not the offensiveness but the legality, Marlene.

  • JT

Tell us more about witches and demons, nutcase.

      • aar9n

I googled and copied and pasted

  • This is the same man who believes demonic spirits cause hemorrhoids.

    • Karl Dubhe

      They do!!1

Demon Rum gave my ex ‘roids. I’m certain of it.

      • Send ol’ Pat an e-mail. Ask him to put his arthritic fingers toward the camera and drive those ‘rhoid demons out. He’s done it before!

        • Karl Dubhe

ex. I’d rather send Patsy an email asking him to pray to give him more hemorrhoids. 🙂

          • Ol’ Pat’s powers may have worked on some of his followers, but alas god showed him the promised land, but didn’t let him cross over. You can tell by how he squirms in his seat.

  • bambinoitaliano

You damn right! Christianity touches the soul of many to corrupt them. Look at who is speaking? Care to reveal how much he has scam the masses into buying his bullshit? Freeloader who never provide a day of honest work is looking after his spawns to stay in the business for generations to come.

  • Michael Rush

Dear Pat Robertson , how can I tell the difference between you and SATAN ?

    • RobynWatts

      Because I actually exist?

      • For now, Robyn. For now . . .

      • RaygunsGoZap

    • KCMC

Pat has his history wrong, wrong, wrong. Massachusetts Bay Colony puritan Roger Williams advocated for separation of church and state. Colonial church leaders knew better. Lord.

    • perversatile

As a concerned christian How Does Pat know what Satan is up to all the time? It’s like they are BFFs or something, because old coots make the best cahoots

      • Ragnar Lothbrok

        Butt buddies I think.

        • vorpal

Based on the pics I’ve seen, anyone who is bottoming for Satan is sure to have a very, very open relationship.

  • Michael Smith

Satan is a big fan of Thomas Jefferson.

  • Prion

  • Treant

Strangely, observing many governments where religion is not separate, his proverbial Satan would seem to be more interested in those. Their actions certainly aren’t exactly what I’d call “good.”

  • aar9n

My favorite is when the ACLU stopped a school from doing a school hosted prayer sometime, and some of the Christians at the school organized a protest against the ACLU. The school tried to shut it down, but the ACLU came to the defense of the Christians protesting it to ensure the students had a right to protest them.

Find a similar story by a right wing Christian group and I’ll give you a blow job

    • Treant

I can beat that argument. I’ll give blow jobs for free.

There’s a play, “God’s Younger Brother.” I was in the premiere of it playing Satin, Lord of Lingerie and Undergarments. God’s younger brother, Gosh, wasn’t quite as good as his bigger brother. He did, indeed, create Adam and Steve.

Strangely, this cartoon of Robertson on the crazy chimp continuum looks less chimp-like than the man himself.

  • Moonbeam_Song

Yes, Pat Robertson, in the US, the Christians have the power — of numbers. Of sheer numbers of people who keep trying to shove their religion down everyone else’s throats using the power of the government to do so.

There aren’t massive numbers of American Hindus trying to use the government to force their religious beliefs on the rest of us. Or Muslims. Or Buddhists. Or Jews.

Just Christians. So maybe, just maybe, if you all stopped trying to use the tools of government to force your personal choice of religion on the rest of us, we’d stop having to fight back — using a little thing called the Constitution, I might add.

    • What they can’t allow themselves to see is that same separation protects them and their churches from discrimination. Most of them live in places where their kind of Christian is in large enough numbers so they don’t have to worry about that. But that might not always be the case.

  • Christopher

      • SoCalGal20

  • David F.

Dear Pat – if you “Christians” could mind your own fucking business there wouldn’t be a problem. The true Satan is you trying to force your Stone Age beliefs, which you yourselves don’t even follow, on everyone else.

  • Jay Silversmith

Yes, we ARE fighting against xtians, precisely because their virus is being spread on radio, tv, in our government, in other nations, in our underware, in our schools,

in our businesses, to our children, etc. It is an epidemic that preys on the elderly and uneducated to promote fear of death and a scam to enrich megachurches and televangelists. And the gopt is its prime vector.

    • William

      You said “double-stuffed”. Heh.

      • Jay Silversmith

and you have your mind in the gutter. come over here and sit by me !!!

  • Hryflex

Pat is attempting to re-write history. It was Baptists in Connecticut who appealed to Jefferson for a wall of separation.

    • BearEyes

  • M Jackson

“Wet clean-up on aisle 7. Reverend Robertson just spoke. Again, we need a wet clean-up on aisle 7.”

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

All areas of your life ??? Oh come on Marlene, no homo has kicked your door in and insisted rainbow sparkles on your personal cakes.

  • Maybe if “Christians” would stop trying to impose their beliefs on everyone else, we wouldn’t have to fight them.

  • Marlene, Marlene, Marlene.

Praying in the street? Why would you need to be protected to do that? Jesus explicitly told you not to do that shit so why do you insist upon doing so? Why are you such a reprobate, Marlene? Why???

Get down off the cross, bitch. Jesus needs the wood and iron. And that crown of thorns is not your Easter bonnet.

    • boatboy_srq

If Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists or any other religious group were so impressive with their practices and so in-your-face with their behavior, the ACLU and Freedom From Religion folks would have to do nothing at all because the Xtians would stomp all over the practitioners almost immediately.

    • I don’t remember seeing anyone praying in the streets lately (except for anti-abortion protesters on tv) but I do often see people having Bible study groups in Starbucks and no one bothers them. As far as I’m concerned it’s just another book club and they have every right to have them (just as I have a right not to join).

    • Friday

I think that was the senile old troll claiming the ACLU should stop non-Christians from praying in public.

And no, Pat it doesn’t ‘prove’ everyone else is controlled by your Devil just because your religion is the one that can and does violate civil rights and liberties here in the US. Never mind that people ‘hate you for being so cool’ or something. Stop…. violating others’ civil liberties and the ACLU won’t have to do anything about it. Simple?

  • Lee Grupsmith

Fringe??? FRINGE? Augh!!! Oh and once again, Who is it behind Satan?

  • Michael White

That sorry old man is fast losing his power. Our world will be so much better off when these old grifters head to their hell

  • Christopher

Well I’m a big fan of pulling the skin off of fried chicken and saving it for last, but I still know that it was a chicken. (Totally the same thing, right?) 😀

  • justmeeeee

I don’t think it’s Satan. I think it’s those fucking assholes the Founding Fathers. But poor Pat does have the option to emigrate to some country where the principles are more in line with his philosophy, does he not?

  • lymis

Um, yes, Pat, those organizations are more than willing to take on non-Christian religions exactly the same way they take on Christians. There’s just vastly more incidents of Christians with power abusing it in the US than there are of other religions doing so – in part because Christians tend to stop on anyone threatening their monopoly, whether they are religious or secular.

  • Hank

It is always the same old….

  • AtticusP

Pat Robertson is looking more and more like Yoda every day.

Too bad he hasn’t anywhere near the brains or the empathy.

Satan is responsible for that? Then is your mother and father responsible for your SHIT FOR BRAINS?

  • Ginger Snap

Hail Satan then. But since the same people that believe in God who created Satan it’s really not going to do any good.

  • The_Wretched

“…we’re going to overturn him and his kingdom.”

Kind of like Rollerball (for those who remember cheesy movies of the last century).

  • First of all, I’m not offended by other people praying. Prayer whenever and however and to whomever you want. Just don’t make me or anyone else pretend to do it too. Second, stop playing victim because you have to pretend to be nice to gay people who are GIVING YOU MONEY! This sounds like the same shit they said about integration. Stop being a bigot and look around. Most people range from tolerable to awesome and in no case does their ranking on that scale have anything to do with their race, gender or orientation.

  • marshlc

Why, yes, Pat, Christians do have the power (in the US). Not the power to defeat Satan, but the power to influence elections, have input on laws, and determine social mores.

And you don’t have this power because of God is with you, but because you are the majority, and have been the majority for hundreds of years. Christians are a large part of the entrenched power structure of American life. They have been in the past, they are at present, and they most likely will be to a significant degree going well into the future.

The problem, Pat, is that you don’t seem to understand the difference between “having power” and “having ALL the power”. All that’s happening now, while you moan and wail about the world ending, is that straight white Christian men are going from having it all their way to having it their way lots of the time. You’re still sitting pretty compared to almost everyone else, you just aren’t the only one on the top of the heap anymore, all the time. Pat, please stop clutching all the toys to your chest and sobbing, and look around. It’s OK, sharing power is OK. It’s easier than struggling to keep it all to yourself, and it’s more interesting, and more fun, to see what other people bring to the table.

    • marshlc

Honestly, I think the problem with most of these guys is that they did not go to a good daycare and learn some basic social skills. If they’d learned the sort of basic conflict resolution skills we teach three year olds now, they’d avoid all this anguish.

When I see two four year olds fighting over a toy, I take it away and say “You guys go talk it out, and come back to me when you’ve got a solution you are both OK with, and I’ll give it back”. And they do it, it’s not that hard.

  • Sad, delusional neo-Puritans. So desperate for power sans accountability. Yes, there is such a thing as freedom from religion. If they knew their own history, they would know that the concept is what got them kicked out of England in the 17th century.

  • EdmondWherever

Show me on the doll where Christianity touched your soul….

    • perversatile

…where you were touched by an angel

      • Ragnar Lothbrok

        My soul feels funny

  • thatotherjean

Oh, for the love of. . .

Pat, God has had 240 years to let Satan wreck the place over our various follies and virtues, and we’re still here, doing pretty well compared to much of the rest of the world. You’re a fear-mongering old fool who really should get off the airwaves.

  • Joe knows who I am.

Christianity touches more than souls, right children?

  • WIGuy

Are we know calling our founders Satan? Someone needs to be chasing that old geezer with a net and a syringe loaded with thorazine

  • Acronym Jim

So he wants churches and religious organizations to be taxed? I’m fine with that.

  • CCleverly

    Go Satan go….. oh, and….

  • Rrhain

Well, of course, Pat. Christianity is the dominant religion here in the US and thus, it is the one with most of the political power. Thus, most infringements of the Constitution are going to be done at the hands of Christians because there are simply so many of them.

It’s the same with anal sex. Most acts of butt play are done between heterosexuals. There are just so many of them, it would be surprising to find that it wasn’t.

Oh! You meant “power” as if Christianity had the lock on god! Oh, I’m so sorry, Pat, but you don’t even have that. Most of the world isn’t Christian. If you really had *that* “power,” surely Christianity would be dominant all over the world.

But it ain’t. It’s pretty popular here in the US, but that doesn’t mean much.

    • Friday

Of course, for the most part it’s Christian Right pols and pundits who are even *inclined* to abridge the civil rights of others, and the ability of anyone else to do so if they did is profoundly limited in this country.

“Are we the only target?” – MARLENE The Christianista have made us their favorite target for many decades now and they’re feeling unfairly targeted because, since Stonewall, we’ve said, “No more!” They drew the line in the sand and we dared to cross it and successfully start making people realize that we are also US Citizens and deserve to be treated as such within the law. You don’t have to like us, but, you must give us the same respect that you demand for yourselves – nothing more, nothing less. If that makes you feel targeted, then look within yourselves and your religious bias and animus and make it right.
