Trump On Surgeon General Pick: “I Don’t Know Her”

“Bobby [Kennedy] thought she was fantastic. She’s highly — she’s a brilliant woman who went through Stanford, and as I understand it, she basically wanted to do, she wanted to be an academic as opposed to a surgeon. I think she graduated first in her class at Stanford [NOPE], and Bobby really thought she was great. I don’t know her. I listened to the recommendation of Bobby. I met her yesterday and once before. She’s a very outstanding person — a great academic, actually — so I think she’ll be great.” – Trump, today in the Oval Office.

The New York Times reports:

Dr. Means, who trained as an otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon, left surgery behind without finishing her training to practice so-called functional medicine, which focuses on addressing the root causes of disease. She published a diet and self-help book last year titled “Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health.” Before that, she had been best known for founding Levels, a company that offers subscribers wearable glucose monitors to track their health.

Dr. Means has echoed some of Mr. Kennedy’s skepticism of vaccines, calling on the new administration to study their “cumulative effects” and to weaken liability protections offered to vaccine makers as a way of encouraging them to develop new shots. “There is growing evidence that the total burden of the current extreme and growing vaccine schedule is causing health declines in vulnerable children,” she wrote in an October newsletter.

The Washington Post reports:

Janette Nesheiwat’s selection in November prompted an uproar from some conservative activists angered by her statements early in the coronavirus pandemic praising vaccines and masking. Nesheiwat’s selection in November prompted an uproar from some conservative activists angered by her statements early in the coronavirus pandemic praising vaccines and masking.

Laura Loomer, a far-right activist who successfully pushed for the firings of several national security officials, targeted Nesheiwat, recently describing her in an X post as a “pro-COVID vaccine nepo appointee.” Liz Wheeler, a conservative media figure, praised the decision to pull the nomination, describing her on X as “a Covid freak who supported masking kids, called the mRNA jab a ‘gift from God,’ and thanked Facebook for censoring ‘anti-vax’ info.”

Trump has no idea who she is, but yet we still got the typically gushing Truth Social post.
