Cops Hone In On Hostel Used By UnitedHealth Killer

Yahoo News reports:

Police are said to have searched a hostel as they continue to hone in on the identity of the suspect who fatally shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Wednesday, according to a report. Officers searched a hostel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where they believe the suspect may have been staying, according to CNN.

It comes after police were said to be seeking a search warrant for an undisclosed location in New York City where they believe the alleged killer may have been hiding, sources told ABC News on Thursday morning. The alleged killer was last seen cycling out of Central Park on West 85th Street just before 7 a.m. and has since remained at large.

CNN reports:

Following the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Wednesday, multiple major healthcare providers began increasing personal protection around their top executives.

“The heads of major health care concerns and their security departments were adding people, security details, precautions, mail screening — across the country,” CNN’s Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst, John J. Miller said.

Detectives found a phone in the alley the gunman ran through that may have belonged to him. They also found a bottle of water that they believe the suspect bought at a Starbucks shortly before the shooting.

Federal authorities are now assisting the NYPD. CNN just reported on-air that fingerprints were found on the water bottle mentioned above.
