Trump’s DOJ Likely To End Manhunt For Capitol Rioters

Politico reports:

Donald Trump’s return to power means hundreds of people who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, are likely to go unpunished. The nationwide manhunt, which prosecutors have dubbed the largest and most complex in American history, is expected to come to an abrupt conclusion once Trump takes over.

On Thursday, the Justice Department announced that it has charged more than 1,560 people with crimes tied to the attack on the Capitol. But prosecutors have estimated that as many as 2,500 more people could face charges, and online sleuths who have become key partners for law enforcement have put the number closer to 3,000.

Those people will probably never be charged by a Trump-controlled Justice Department, which is unlikely to pursue any new Jan. 6 cases.
