MI GOP Calls Baltimore Mayor “Colored Communist”

The Michigan Republican Party used the word “colored” to describe Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott (D) in a social media post on Thursday while also calling him a communist.

Rather than wait for an investigation into the incident to uncover the cause of the bridge collapse, right-wing social media accounts immediately suggested the blame should be placed on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

On its official X/Twitter account, the Michigan GOP seized on Scott’s remarks, portrayed them as threatening, and described Scott as “colored.” A prominent account on X/Twitter that has been engaged with and boosted by Elon Musk referred to Scott, who is Black, as “Baltimore’s DEI mayor.”
