Atlanta’s NBC affiliate reports:
A Georgia congressman whose district covers much of the southern part of metro Atlanta has announced that he is not running for reelection. In a statement posted to social media, Rep. Drew Ferguson said at the conclusion of this Congress, he will be retiring from the House of Representatives.
“Serving the wonderful constituents of Georgia’s Third District has been the honor of a lifetime. I have been blessed to have worked with such a talented and dedicated staff in my District and D.C. offices,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson served on the Ways and Means Committee, which he said allowed him to focus on “focus on tax, trade, and healthcare – issues important to American competitiveness on the global stage.”

In December 2022, Ferguson was accused of having voted illegally in three elections. Nothing ever came of that. First elected in 2016, Ferguson won reelection in 2022 by 37 points. He has voted against every LGBTQ-related measure in the House.
Just in: Georgia Republican Rep. Drew Ferguson won’t seek another term in Congress next year. He was an ally of Steve Scalise and was seen as a potential contender for House leadership – before the chamber moved further toward the hardline wing of the GOP. #gapol pic.twitter.com/2nXGzCHfCY
