Protestors had their say Saturday in Livingston opposing a “Drag Story Hour” at the Staten Island Children’s Museum, but their jeers had little effect.
In fact, the event’s organizer, Yun-Hee Proffit, said the protest, led by local artist Scott LoBaido [photo], achieved the opposite of its intended effect reinforcing their drive to host the events that she said are about promoting acceptance and inclusivity.
There was no shortage of hateful speech hurled from about 100 yards away across the grounds of the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens where the “Drag Story Hour” took place inside the museum’s location there.
