Deadline Hollywood reports:
Broadway theaters will dim their lights for Stephen Sondheim on Wednesday, December 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
“It is impossible to measure Stephen Sondheim’s impact on the world of musical theatre,” said Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League in announcing the one-minute marquee light dimming, a Broadway tradition.
“It is hard to imagine Broadway without him, but we know his legacy will live on for many years to come, including in this season’s revival of Company opening December 9.”

Special praise should be given to whoever made the wise decision to mix modern subway sounds into Stephen Spielberg’s “West Side Story” remake—including the sound of a train playing the first three notes of “Somewhere.” https://t.co/fyJAzm1Gjw

My favorite part of West Side Story is where they’re getting on the subway and the train grinds out the first three notes of Somewhere, and I’m so sure that it wasn’t an accident that Spielberg included this very common New York subway sound.

Stephen Sondheim left us better than he found us
Side note, Sondheim’s lyrics enter the brain every time the subway leaves and plays Somewhere pic.twitter.com/HIMM76P3sq
