The New York Daily News reports:
The number of unvaccinated NYPD cops sent home without pay due to COVID mandates has doubled, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said Tuesday. By Tuesday morning 89 cops had been shown the door for not receiving the coronavirus vaccine, Shea told on NY1.
The number was up from 34 the day before, although Shea does not believe the public should worry.
“When you take into account our size, it’s 0.25 of 1%,” Shea said of the sidelined cops. The NYPD is doing far better than the FDNY, which, as of late Monday was only 77% vaccinated. In addition to the low number of firefighters getting the life-saving jab, thousands of firefighters went out sick over the weekend.
