AL Lawmakers Pass Bill Creating Anti-Vax Exception To Law Allowing Minors Over 14 To Consent To Treatment

The Alabama Legislature Thursday night gave final approval to a bill requiring parental consent for minors to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

The bill goes to Gov. Kay Ivey [photo], who could sign it into law. The bill would create an exception to the state law that allows minors 14 and older to consent to medical treatment.

The legislation would also prohibit schools and colleges from asking about a minor student’s COVID-19 vaccination status without parental consent. The bill says the attorney general could commence civil action in court to stop violations.
