The Orlando Sentinel reports:
The state Department of Health reported 134,751 new coronavirus cases this week among Florida residents to bring the cumulative total to 2,725,450. With 616 more fatalities, 39,695 Florida residents are now dead.
The news comes after Florida’s daily COVID case count hit another high for the second time in a week when the state recorded 22,783 cases in a single day. This week’s 616 deaths are up from the 409 last week, but deaths can take several days or weeks to be reported.
The daily case count on Thursday, a sign the virus continues to spread, breaks the previous record of 21,683 cases reported last Friday. It also represents a 33% increase in infections from last week.
