Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), an ally of former President Donald Trump, on Friday defeated Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) by an overwhelming margin to become chair of the House Republican conference. The meeting began at 8:30 and ended less than an hour later, with Stefanik emerging victorious on a secret ballot of her House Republican colleagues 134-46, according to a source familiar with the final tally.
