Business Insider reports:
The White House coronavirus testing czar said Sunday it was time to “move on” from the discussions surrounding hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for the coronavirus days after President Donald Trump again defended the drug.
“There may be circumstances — I don’t know what they are — where a physician may prescribe it for an individual, but I think most physicians and prescribers are evidence-based and they’re not influenced by whatever is on Twitter or anything else,” Brett P. Giroir told NBC’s Chuck Todd on Sunday.
He added: “And the evidence just doesn’t show that Hydroxychloroquine is effective, for now. I think we need to move on from that and talk about what is effective.”
There is no evidence that hydroxychloroquine is an “effective” treatment for COVID-19, says Adm. Brett Giroir, who is overseeing the nation’s COVID-19 testing.

BRETT GIROIR: “At this point in time, there has been five randomized controlled, placebo controlled trials that do not show any benefit to hydroxychloroquine. So, at this point in time, we don’t recommend that as a treatment. There’s no evidence to show that it is.” pic.twitter.com/1GgTHAdu5K

I suspect @realDonaldTrump won’t be happy Adm. Brett Giroir, the Assistant Secretary of Health and a key member of his Coronavirus Task Force, told @chucktodd that “we don’t recommend” hydroxychloroquine “as a treatment” for Covid-19 because there’s “no evidence” it’s effective.
