The Daily Beast reports:
President Trump has told people he wants Americans to see his signature on the stimulus checks that will be sent out after he signed a $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief package into law Friday, according to an administration official cited by The Wall Street Journal.
Such checks would normally be signed by a disbursing officer, not the president. While signing the bill into law in the Oval Office on Friday, the president appeared to express awe at the price tag attached to the legislation, calling it a “great honor” and saying, “I never signed anything with a T on it.”
The WSJ report is behind their paywall.
President Trump “has told people he wants his signature to appear on the direct payment checks,” the @WSJ reports. “Normally, a civil servant—the disbursing officer for the payment center—would sign federal checks.” https://t.co/X9dibJ474h

Trump wanting his signature on every 1.2k check is such a brilliant move.
(1) He gets the credit he deserves for getting this done.
(2) The Media can’t distrort messaging. The American people will know the truth. His signature is literally on the check.
Pure Genius.

It’s free campaign advertising. He’s giving taxpayers the impression that he is sending them a check, but all of us are footing the bill. https://t.co/Q1ye6zHaRd
