Disney Extends Closure Of Theme Parks Indefinitely

Orlando’s NBC News reports:

Walt Disney World and Disneyland will remain closed until further notice, the company announced Friday afternoon. Disney said in a statement Friday that hourly employees will continue to be paid through April 18.

The parks were closed earlier this month through the end of the month due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“As a result of this unprecedented pandemic and in line with direction provided by health experts and government officials, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed until further notice,” a spokesperson for the Walt Disney Company said.

Disney had little choice. The company’s Orlando-area theme parks are under a local closure order until at least April 8th. In California, non-essential businesses are also under a statewide closure order until at least April 19th.
