The Hill reports:
Former Democratic presidential nominee and secretary of State Hillary Clinton tweeted Wednesday afternoon that 52 Republican senators betrayed their oath of office by voting to acquit President Trump. Clinton’s remarks follow the U.S. Senate’s 48-52 final vote that resulted in Trump’s acquittal on two articles of impeachment. The president needed 34 votes in favor of ‘not guilty’ to be acquitted.
As the president’s impeachment trial began, Republican senators pledged an oath to defend the Constitution.
Today, 52 of them voted to betray that oath—and all of us.
We’re entering dangerous territory for our democracy. It’ll take all of us working together to restore it.
