NBC News reports:
A Florida man has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for an unprovoked attack on another man who was dressed as one of the short yellow characters from the “Minions” film. Police said Nihart knocked over and kicked Jamie Roehm on Daytona Beach’s boardwalk. Roehm was dressed as one of the “Minions” characters – who are also in the “Despicable Me” films – to promote a local business. The state attorney’s office said Nihart also was ordered to pay for damage to Roehm’s costume and enroll in a “moral recognition therapy course.”
The Daytona Beach Journal reports:
Nihart told police and bystanders at the time that he was playing a prank. He calls himself “Bouje Ratche” on social media. He identified himself as an “Instagram star” to the crowd that had surrounded him. But Roehm could be heard on a video telling police that he had declined Nihart’s invitation to wrestle. Seconds after declining, Nihart grabbed him and spun him around before kicking and hitting him. Roehm is partially blind and mentally disabled, according to police.
