Comey Book Release Gets Harry Potter-Level Security

Politico reports:

James Comey’s book is getting the Harry Potter treatment. “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership,” the upcoming memoir from former FBI director James Comey, is set for publication on April 18 — and with anticipation rivaling that of the cult children’s favorite, the publisher is taking extreme precautions to prevent potentially explosive revelations detailing Comey’s interactions with President Donald Trump from leaking.

Instead of circulating multiple print drafts among the editors and agents working on the book, the publisher, Flatiron Books, has implemented a password-protected electronic system so that only those involved in the project have access to it. The project is stored under a code name so that staffers who are not involved in the project wouldn’t know where to find it if they tried. At warehouses that will ship out copies of the book, workers are being asked to sign nondisclosure agreements, according to people familiar with the procedures.

Hope he devotes a few chapters on “how I was complicit in electing Trump”

    • Nowhereman

Me too! And lordy, I hope there are tapes!

      • Joe in PA

I see what you did there. 🙂

    • Gustav2

Along with Andrew McCabe who may be fired by Trump for releasing info on the Clinton investigation. SMH

      • jimbo65

Yeah I have no love for McCabe. I just think it’s rich that 45 is using the Clinton investigation as cover for firing him. Hope those in the FBI who were antI Clinton, especially the NY division are ever so happy with their president now.

        • Gustav2

…and continue to keep the loyalty to him.

          It really pays off!

      • j.martindale

I just wonder if tRump may not be pissing off some of the people who can bring him down. Comey, for all his screw-ups, somehow was smart enough to get to the top of the heap. I would be shocked if none of these people tRump is stabbing in the back don’t have some real dirt on him.

    • Larry Hankamer

Remember when Giuliani said, “We have a big surprise in a few days that will turn this thing around.”, just a couple days before Giuliani’s buddy, Comey, let it be known they were investigating Hillary. Someone needs to investigate.

  • Gustav2

Thank Gawd it is not protected by the White House level of security.

  • JoeMyGod

If a lowly gopher at Runway Magazine can get her hands on a Harry Potter manuscript during her lunch hour, how secure can the Comey book really be?

    • JW Swift

Yeah, but if you had Meryl Streep for a boss…

      • Gustav2

Sleeping with Christian Thompson (Simon Baker) would help ease the pain.

        • Chris Lion

I would have gone for Christian over the cook… grilled cheese? Seriously?

          • Gustav2

            Jarlsberg not your thing? 😉

  • Tulle Christensen

“password-protected electronic system” I am sure Putin has read it already

  • HKDaniel

Oh lordy, April 18th is going to be a bad day for someone as the Twit in Chief tries to bury this story.

  • safari

The first thing I do with an e-book that I need to edit or take notes on is print it out.

  • fuow

And they think this will work? When did it ever? I think this falls into the ‘advertising/marketing’ phase of selling a book to a wide audience which would otherwise have a limited one.

  • Rebecca Gardner

OT but this is horrible. If you can stomach watching the video these really stupid fucking bitches made you will not believe your ears. The things they teach their children is child abuse.

    • Macbill

You have to teach them while they’re young…..

    • Ross

      My grandparent’s were incredible racists.

They were also, of course, religious fundamentalists.

One night, I sat with my grandfather on his back porch. In the distance was a red glow. That was Detroit, burning, during the 1968 riots. I was eleven.

As we watched the scary red horizon, my grandfather kept saying: “That’s all ni**ers know what to do: destroy. They destroy everything.”

As I watched the red horizon, I kept thinking: But WHY are they doing this?

Years went by before I had an answer to my question. But on that night I knew my grandfather was wrong. And I knew, somehow, that HE was part of the problem.

      • Todd20036

My parents were very casual about their racism against black people. It never took with me. Actually, my epiphany came in a grade school social studies class: Native Americans were referred to as “savages” in a history book. I didn’t speak up, but even at that young age (I think I was around 9) I remember thinking that this cannot be right.

    • Nic Peterson

      I. Just. Can’t.

    • ScubaBearLA

I read the article, thank you for posting it. Very sobering. Another scary aspect of the way things are going is that if Betsy Devos has her way, all children will be educated in isolated echo chambers that never expose them to diversity. Or truth, for that matter.

    • JAX

The parent’s last name is Gonzales. The irony is lost on her.

    • JCF

“In a separate video, posted by Gonzales on the same day, the group is gathered back in the car, singing along to a song known as the Donald Trump song. “Build a wall. Ten feet, 20 feet, 100 feet tall,” they all sing.”

Incredible. Ms Gonzales singing about a wall. On which side do you think your fellow Trumpers are going to put you and your kids, chica?

      Lock her up!

  • Wisterley

Perhaps after publication they could explain about security to the government.

  • Bambino

How explosive can the book be when Comey is bind by the national security clauses of NDA attached to his former employment? Never mind the defamation lawsuits from the White House even at the hinting of any wrong doing suggested in his book. I think Stormy Daniels potential tell and show all got Comey beat.

    • Joe in PA

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. But it won’t stop the media from breathlessly exclaiming “bombshell” after “bombshell”.

      I’m tired already.

    • Chuck in NYC

I can’t imagine what’s going to be in there that hasn’t already been disclosed in broad outline in the media. It’s just going to be a more detailed version.

      • William

The real dirt is still classified.

  • Acronym Jim
    • Treant

“I’ve always wanted to cast that spell!”

  • Natty Enquirer

Will he play himself in the TV miniseries?

  • Joe in PA

    Tell it to Mueller.

  • Steven in Texas

    Really now:
“password-protected electronic system so that only those involved in the
project have access to it. The project is stored under a code name so
that staffers who are not involved in the project wouldn’t know where to
    find it if they tried”
How about a simple search for files modified since date XX/XX/XXXX, that should be a shorter list to look through,
and books most likely would be of larger file size than most.

    • Pucks yer Mackd

Lol. That is how I find my own shit! I can’t remember the damn name but I can the date. Lol

  • Leo
  • Bad Tom

Somehow i don’t think Comey’s book will be a popular as Harry Potter.

Although living through the Trump era does feel like someone is performing the cruciatus curse on us continually.

  • BobSF_94117

Good lord, if the book is ready, just speed up the printing schedule. I get that publishers want to hype but does this particular book need any more hype?

  • Mike

Comey should have lost his pension for leaking a lot of nothing about Hillary Clinton, just to throw the election to Trump. A book about how he is Goofus AND Gallant, but mostly Gallant, but just enough Goofus to help Republicans destroy the world, doesn’t sound all that appealing to me. Lordy.

  • Damn! So we’re finally going to find out where all the horcruxes are hidden?

  • SelectFromWhere
  • M Jackson

I still have that kindle download of “Fire and Fury” that I bought the morning of, out of protest, and will probably never read.

    • Lindoro Almaviva

You should. I finished it weeks ago and it was a great read

      • CB

Yeah. Content is interesting, but the writing is so inferior.

        • samcollins

Agreed…his sentence structure was almost unbearable at times.

  • JWC

I sincerely hope in a post Trump world all the hate and bullshit he has created can be explained , corrected and American can move on

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

It can and will, but it will take at least a decade to undo the damage he’s done. I mean, he’s now admitting to lying to my PM and slamming us ‘just because.’ We won’t forget that anytime soon. We know it’s not the majority of Americans who think this way, but still, it will linger as it will in many other countries.

      • JWC

        Lying to OUR PM

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

I wonder which spell he’s used:

Expecto To’be Letdownem OR Avarus Protectim

  • coram nobis

Jimmy Comey and the Chamber of Secrets.

Who gets the movie rights? Guillermo Del Toro?
