VIRGINIA: Suspicious Letter Sickens 11 At Army Base

Washington DC’s WTOP reports:

A hazardous materials team has been dispatched to Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia, after a suspicious letter sickened 11 and sent three to the hospital. The three are in stable condition, according to the Arlington Fire Department, which is assisting in the investigation. Symptoms among those affected include nosebleeds and burning hands, according to sources familiar with the situation. The building has been evacuated.

More from Arlington Now:

Firefighters were first dispatched to Henderson Hall, the headquarters of the U.S. Marine Corps, just after 4:30 p.m. for a hazardous materials call. Ft. Myer, Arlington County and Alexandria firefighters and hazmat units are all on scene, as is an “EMS task force” that is usually dispatched to mass casualty incidents. Initial reports suggest that a certified letter was opened in one of the buildings and that it contained some sort of potentially hazardous substance, prompting an evacuation of the building and the deployment of an emergency decontamination station.

      1) Even if Delta freely bargained away those “rights,” in exchange for valuable consideration?
      2) Why is a “threat” a federal constitutional violation? Unless the threat is acted upon, there might be a ripeness issue.

I hate to argue with Mr Tribe, but without more detail, this is not very persuasive to me.

      • MonochromeMouse

A lt.govenor saying he will block any bills benefiting a company who he politically disagrees with is absolutely a 1st amendment violation. He is using his position of authority to threaten a company for disagreeing with him, that is 100% an abuse of power.

        • not a user 220000

Does the Lt Gov. have any First Amendment rights of his own?

          • MonochromeMouse

Not while acting as fucking lt. governor no. Elected officials cannot use their position to threaten companies they don’t like. It’s as much a crime as trump threatening to impose extra taxes on every hotel chain except his would be.

¶ Assuming we even get past jurisdiction, standing, and ripeness issues, isn’t this the kind of case abstention doctrines (Pullman, Younger, Burford/Thibodaux, etc., including “political question” doctrine) were made for?

¶ Isn’t seizing steel mills more of a “constitutional violation” than making a verbal threat?

    • Ross

Since 11/8/16, I have been 100% convinced that the election was stolen.

      Posted previously, and from electoral-vote.com:

For years, the manufacturers of voting machines have been saying that the machines are safe because they are not connected to the Internet. But closer examination shows that the machines and the voting system as a whole are still very vulnerable. Many voting machines are indeed not connected to the Internet, but they contain internal telephone modems so they can call city and county election centers and report their results. These modems use the telephone system—often the cellular telephone system—and that makes them just as vulnerable to Russian or other hacking as if they were on the Internet.

Why? First of all, if there is a modem used to call out, it is possible that a hacker could also find a way to call in, log onto the voting machine (which after all, is just a computer with a touch screen, like a big iPad). Manufacturers say this can’t be done, but most experts don’t agree. A hacker who logged in could change totals without any fear of being detected. In fact, even if a hacker didn’t change anything but simply caused a message to appear on the screen (or somewhere it could be found) reading: “Greetings from Boris Botski,” it would wreak havoc by making it clear that a (Russian) hacker got in, thus undermining faith in the election, even if nothing were changed.

A second problem is that some voting machines call city or county offices on the cellular network. For administrators, this is much easier since they don’t have to connect a landline to each machine, of which there could be dozens in a big polling place. Here, a hacker with a large-enough budget and a fair amount of expertise (think: the Russian government, not some 400-pound kid sitting on his bed), could erect a fake cellular station near selected polling places. When the voting machines turned on their modems to call home, the calls would be picked up by the fake cell towers rather than the real ones. The software in those towers could modify results before forwarding them to the place they were supposed to go. Needless to say, the manufacturers pooh-pooh this idea, but experts are far from sure.

Third, once all the polling places have reported up one level, the totals typically get sent to county and state elections centers. Those computers are most definitely on the Internet, and could be penetrated and malware placed on them that could alter results.

      • Max_1

If I can change your address no matter where you mail your ballot from it will become invalid if I change your address to an address that is no longer in your Precinct and your District. You will get a confirmation that your ballot was received you will not get a confirmation that your ballot was counted.

Lenin, ” it matters not who votes but who counts the votes.”

      • m_lp_ql_m

400-lb kids don’t sit on their beds.

      • I think the Russians and the Republicans tampered with the machines and the count in 2016 somehow and elected Trump. I did not before but I know how easy it is to penetrate database application design — and 80,000 votes in three states could have been screwed around with. If we want to ensure that our election results are going to be secure going forward, it is going to take an expensive, coordinated effort from the federal level on down, and it simply is not happening now — both parties will have to get on board, and one party is benefiting from the vote rigging.

      • -M-

Besides there’s no need to tamper with the votes themselves, and it’s easier to just throw the certain people off the rolls or create delays at certain polling stations.

    • Max_1

      Bolding because…

    • SoCalGal20

I’m still trying to figure out what they were doing in CA. Hillary won big here. If people aren’t in the voting book for some reason, they’re given a provisional ballot. Most people vote by mail or at least get their ballot mailed and then just drop it off in person.

In my experience in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties, most people don’t use electronic voting machines. They are typically there for disabled people who may find it easier to use.

        • BobSF_94117

What year? He probably only did it because Pat was being too obvious.

          • 1991- Buckley agreed that Buchanan was an anti-semite (not hard to do right?), and that pretty much drove Pat out of the Republican Party. Buchanan’s other racist tendencies were brought out also. http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/238360-decades-overdue-gop-bucks-buchanan

          • MaryJOGrady

In 1996 Buchanan mounted a serious campaign for the Republican nomination for the presidency. I remember feeling disgusted and chilled when he won the New Hampshire primary.
The national party gave him a prominent evening speaking time at their national convention in Houston in 1992. (I was in Houston, doing abortion clinic defense and street theatre while the Republicans were in town.) That was when he gave the “Culture War” speech which Molly Ivins remarked probably sounded better in the original German. That speech probably helped cost the Republicans the presidency that year, it was so extreme and hateful.

          • thatotherjean

I changed my registration for 1980 to vote for John Anderson, who was running in the primary in my state as a Republican. For a couple of decades, the Democrats wouldn’t let me back in–they kept screwing up my re-registering, for election after election. So I used to vote in for Pat Buchanan in the Republican primaries, just because he was so awful that he’d be easiest for the Democrat to beat in the general election.

      All of these were 21 and under in 1776: (Major) Thomas Young, 12 – Deborah Sampson, 15 – James Armistead, 15 – Marquis de Lafayette, 18 – James Monroe, 18 – Charles Pinckney, 18 – Gilbert Stuart, 20 – John Trumbull, 20 – Aaron Burr, 20 – John Marshall, 20 – Nathan Hale, 21

      • I left this before — but one of Great Britain’s (which was not officially called the UK until 1800 with Irish Unification) greatest Prime Ministers. William Pitt the Younger (as opposed to — you guessed it! “The Elder”) assumed office in 1783 at the age of 24, and was named Chancellor of the Exchequer at the age of 23. PM Pitt was most likely LGBT or aseuxal, since he never married, and was known to “prefer the company of younger men”. Another story I remember was that King George V turned down a request to name a battleship after Pitt, a father or the Royal Navy, because “as a former sailor himself, he was aware of unfortunate habits of navy men to construct rhymes for ship names that are neither pleasant nor eponymous – and was worried about a rhyme with the name Pitt”.

      Very encouraging news!

    • gaycuckhubby

Hell yeah! This could make an impact, and there’s a good chance that Governor Deal will veto this.
Georgia has spent a lot of time and money to get Hollywood to film in the state. Many many film are now being shot in Georgia.

      • Lars Littlefield

It doesn’t take much to shut down production on everything in Georgia or any other state trying to pull the anti gay or NRA threat shit. Ain’t nothing in Georgia that can’t be filmed be British Columbia. Go Canucks.

        • Hue-Man

The Vampire Diaries (imdb): “The pilot was shot in Vancouver but production of the series was moved
to Georgia because of the state’s tax credit incentives. Most of the
filming takes place in the city of Covington.”

          • Lars Littlefield

Not a problem. Take whatever exterior shot needed in Covington and shoot everything else in BC. An interior shot is an interior shot.

      • johncAtl

There are typically 30-40 movies and TV shows being filmed in Georgia. And it brings billions into the state. Deal will veto. He’s an ethically challenged crook. But I actually can’t criticize the job he’s done as governor. He stood up to the religious right and got Sunday alcohol sales approved, and last year vetoed the religious freedom bill.

    • Reality.Bites

They don’t seem to realize in the article that Disney now means Fox. And Marvel. And Lucasfilm. And ABC and Freeform. I know how much programming I watch from Georgia because I’m the kind of person who always wants to know where something is filmed and see if I can spot tell-tale signs if it’s filmed elsewhere from where it’s set, which is most often the case for shows filmed in Georgia or Canada and indeed, often California.

      • Excellent point.

      • Husband is into The Originals. It’s set in New Orleans, we live in New Orleans. Alas, it’s filmed in GA.

  • Here’s why Kushner’s loss of TS/SCI clearance (and presumably also Ivanka’s) matters.

Yes, I get the theory that the WH will just ignore the fact Jared isn’t supposed to have access to high-end compartmentalized and key-name confidential info. He’s also supposed to be cut off from the presidential daily briefs (PDBs). The theory presumes this information is just lying around and that if it’s a problem, Jared can just take it to his father-in-law and get a quickie declassify-read-reclassify to evade the lack of clearance on a case-by-case basis.

While there’s not much question this WH is extraordinarily lax in security procedures, a lot of it happens outside the building. In addition to the PDB, Jared was said to have been the top requester of confidential info. (Leading to my personal theory he’s been peddling secrets to his creditors, but that’s for another time…) Secondly, apparently Jared’s been pulling a LOT of info.

Although his previous interim clearance probably shouldn’t have been treated as if it was a full-on TS/SCI, it was. And so Jared’s requests to the NSA, DoD, DoE and other departments would be responded to as if he had full top-level clearance to anything he asks for. So it would be provided. Same thing with classified briefings.

After having been downgraded to mere ‘Secret’ level, this means there will be meetings Jared will not be allowed to sit in on. And any requests for information above his clearance level will be refused. Briefing requests will be refused.

Why? Given Jared can run to his father-in-law, doesn’t that mean he can get anything he wants? The reason the answer to this is “no” is because criminal liability has just been passed down the chain. If you’re an NSA file clerk (with full TS/SCI permanent clearance) and you get an email from Jared asking for something above his level it is a crime for you to fulfill that request.

In other words, the people with the TS/SCI-level info Jared’s been asking for won’t have anyone covering for them. I can’t begin to tell you how much it was drilled into me that if someone illegally asked me for confidential information and I gave it to them, we both will have committed a crime.

So, all I’m saying is this isn’t a situation the WH can simply ignore and have the status quo of Jared continuing to access info he’s not cleared to see or attend meetings he’s not allowed to be at. Jared isn’t going to be able to head to the East Wing daily to find Donald among the cheeseburger detritus and ask the folder in his hand be cleared for him to read, because that’s not how it works. I foresee only a few possible outcomes:

    1) Jared continues to pretend to do a job he was never qualified to do, and keep on piling up corruption and conspiracy charges for Mueller to suss out, absent a clearance.
    2) Same thing, only Jared begs a clearance from Donald, but he’s still in deep shit with the corruption and conspiracy stuff.
    3) Jared and likely also Ivanka realize the only way to end the criminal liability (or to stop making it worse at least) is to leave their jobs.

The problem with 1 & 2 is it’s difficult to believe Kelly and McMaster will let that continue. They both seem to be behind the push to get Donald’s kids out of the way. And the problem with 3 is Jared loses his chances to keep colluding with foreign officials and investors to save his scrawny ass from bankruptcy.

What the current situation is, isn’t stable.

    • SoCalGal20

One of the guests on Lawrence’s show contends that by allowing Kelly to downgrade Jared’s security clearance Trump has basically cut Jared loose. Interesting if true!

      • I kind of figure “try to do the job w/out access to TS/SCI access” will be what happens for now for him. But Jared’s quickly going to find himself frozen out of info he needs. So we’ll see, I guess.

        • sadoldguy

Only through official channels. He will get many “reach arounds” from trump and the true believers so he can continue his grifting.

          • Yes, but his info access is going to be heavily curtailed. Or is likely to be. So whatever shenanigans he’s trying to pull with UAE, China, Israel, Saudi Arabia & whatever is going to be that much harder.

    From TRMS,
trump employees occupies the Panama trump hotel security office for several days while majority owner tried to fire them.

Were they destroying incriminating blackmail videos taken on the premises?
They might have had time to erase / destroy computer files, but the cameras are likely still in place. Will we be hearing about unauthorized surveillance equipment installed in rooms / suites likely to be visited by powerful and important people?

    • M Jackson

I’ll be all over this story tomorrow, but for tonight I just don’t have the strength.

      • Lumpy Gaga

        We’ve been here before:

        * “Trump” brand name is poison.

        * Trump management will run a property into the ground.

    • Lumpy Gaga

Rachel sez the real owner (not the Trump management team) turned power off to the “war room” after being denied access for several days.

Also, too: the Trump management team is there by contract.

Again, anyone (Trump, Trump org) who sets up a deal whereby you have to pay a yuuuuge penalty to get them off your back, or their name off your otherwise fine property?

You probably don’t want to do business with them.

      • Lazycrockett

They were shredding docs last week.

        • Lumpy Gaga

Just from a business standpoint… why do these people insist on taking a dump on what could be really good deals for everybody involved?

          • Lazycrockett

Well the owner isn’t part of the Drumpf organization and the name is toxic in central America and no one is staying at the hotel. This is why I’ve started to believe that every Hotel is being used as Putin’s money laundry operation.

Remember Drumpf doesn’t own most properties he just manages em.

          • sadoldguy

Didn’t Rachel say that it was believed to have been built as a money laundering project?

          • Lumpy Gaga

I understand the brand is poison, which is why I don’t understand why you’d insist on the terms of your “management” contract AND also keeping the poisonous name.

          • Lazycrockett

That’s the problem, the management is still under contract and refuse to leave.

          • bkmn

          Tortillas on broil?

          • Talisman

Flour tortillas – preheat oven to 350F. Wrap tortillas in foil. Turn off oven. Place tortillas in oven. Close door. Leave for 10 min.

            Warm and pliable.

          • sadoldguy

I often toast cheese on tortillas prior to making enchiladas, often sprinkled with chopped garlic.
Fill and wrap, smother in salsa and cheese and put back under broil.

I’m coming to live with you.

        • safari

Cardboard cheap frozen semi-food likes it.

          • They’re nearly as prone to crustal failure as homemade.

          • safari

I’ve never found it to be so. Aim cheaper. Why, Totinos switched from round to square because it’s cheaper to cut in squares. (I might have a childhood comfort food issue.)

          • To be honest, we typically buy Costco frozen pizza, then load it up with extra cheese and toppings. We have a round pizza pan, but someday I want to get a proper pizza stone.

          • safari

I broke my last one. I can’t say it is magic, but I like the idea of it. Make it as hot as the oven, and you get even, hot heating.

Then there’s the washing — which is not. With my ex, I’d scrub it with a little soap when he wasn’t looking.

          • sadoldguy

Soap it up and use a safety razor to remove baked on little bits.

          • johncAtl

            Costco pizza is excellent.

          • Talisman

Totinos (3 meat or hamburger) are my favorite. They allow you to cook in the microwave, but my niece did that once, and it looked/smelled horrible. I’ll take the extra time to cook it in the oven, thank you.

          • safari

My coworker tells me he just throws it in the oven as it preheats and then takes it out. He claims it stands up.

          • Talisman

TBH, I have done that. And it does work. But it’s cheap food, so what do you expect? 😛

          • safari

            Cheap food, I expect.

One of my favorite gay mystery authors wrote of “Cup-A-Soup” and pizzas as described in her work. (Yes, her… but she writes gay really well.) I felt heartened.

          • William

The best ever a Totino’s pizza tasted was when I sprayed the oven with
Eazy-off and forgot about it. That night I cooked the pizza in the oven.
The flavor was incredible. Then I remembered about the oven cleaner and
spent the next day obsessing if my insides were dissolving form the
            oven cleaner.

My mother had a food mill that she used for a lot of things– grinding flour, making sausage, juicing oranges, a lot of things. • sadoldguy

Then you are doing “home made” wrong.
Home made pizza takes time and effort, not genus.

          • Whatevs. Cooking ON the oven rack is just wrong.

        • For the life of me, I cannot figure why so many frozen pizzas give on-rack instructions for cooking first, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be done.

Ya want an extra crispier pizza, buy a stone or screen and/or cook at a higher temperature.

          • safari

            Preheat stone!

          • Always! Actually helps even to preheat both the oven and the pizza pan, if going that route.

          • safari

My bff in HS’s mother baked cakes. She’d wait two or three cycles to make sure the oven was of temp.

There’s a really popular pizza place in the building next door. The owner said in an interview he practiced at home perfecting cooking pizza by figuring out what he needed to disable to allow him to cook pizza with his oven set to self clean.

          • safari

Oh. I’ve heard stories about disabling the thermal regulators in ovens. Not many. But enough. Grad students are curious.

      • fuzzybits

      1) If you expect something to come out perfect the first time, think again. Practice makes perfect. Stick to the tried and true for the public stuff; keep the experiments private.

Nothing can, in any circumstances, legitimize what is fundamentally ILLEGITIMATE and unacceptable in a genuine democracy. You must do whatever it takes to stop them, to PARALYZE their efforts to undo your democracy. You are CERTAINLY under NO obligation to accept the results of elections you KNOW are compromised. The current federal government refuses to PROTECT your elections from illegal tampering, and Americans–like downtrodden SERFS–REFUSE to DEMAND action!!

Apparently, Pence spoke in Nashville today, and predicted that “abortion will end in our time” because of the progress that has been made in the dumpster’s administration.

    http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/375852-pence-says-abortion-will-end-in-us-in-our-time

Unfortunately, there will never be an end to abortion so long as Repuglicants are unwilling to support contraception, sex education, non-discrimination in adoption, safer environments for the unwanted, better education and financial support for the poor, and access to health care for everyone. As Bill Clinton said, abortion should be safe, legal, and rare – but it will never be rare so long as Repuglicants scream about the sanctity of (unborn) life while feeding the living poor and underprivileged to the wolves of starvation, sickness, and war.

    • Sam_Handwich

however, there will be no end to classrooms full of first graders getting shot into a bloody pulp

    • Max_1

IF Republicans cared about, er, “the sanctity of life” were genuine to them…
… They’d be anti-war, anti-death penalty, pro-universal health care, and be against guns in society.

Call them for what they are: Anti-abortion because the control of a woman’s body means something to them…

The problem is that the Republicans haven’t been asked enough about why controlling a woman’s body is so important for them…?

      • Max_1

        continued:
I mean, women don’t get themselves pregnant without a man being involved. Why are men not restricted from getting women pregnant in the way women are… ? In fact, why can men have their employer’s insurance cover their ED meds for free while some women are being denied by their employer’s insurance, any coverage of BC pills?

        Now that’s straight up discriminatory…

      • billbear1961

NO–not if the elections remain open to illegal tampering–U.S. elections are NOT secure, and the current regime is doing NOTHING to punish the tampering which HAS taken place or to stop the tampering which WILL happen this year. For THIS alone, for its refusal to defend this country from a hostile foreign power, this government’s authority should be FORFEIT!

But there are no substantial DEMANDS for action from ANY quarter in this godforsaken, shameful WRECK of a DEMOCRACY!

Abortion has never really been illegal. It has been safe for rich women, and dangerous for poor women, but never completely unobtainable. My great aunt had her first abortion when she was raped at age 13, probably performed by the local doctor.

    • safari

I see lives destroyed for no purpose.

      • Cuberly Deux

In the ICE press release they said 1/2 of those arrested had criminal records or outstanding warrants. They choose to sort of gloss over that other 1/2+.

Why do I have a hard time believing them. Go figure.

        • Bryan

Criminal records eh? What, did they drive 1 mile over the speed limit? Were their headlights or taillights conveniently busted? Oh oh oh oh, I know! They were Driving While Hispanic, right? Or they smoked a small amount of pot. Did they whistle at a white woman?

Clearly these are savage threats to our community and are a clear and present danger to everybody!

I’m of course being flippant, ICE needs to be re-designated as a terrorist organization and every single last member executed for high treason against the United States and her citizens. If Trump wants a wall – give him a row of stakes mounted with the heads of ICE agents. Let’s throw in all those wannabe right-wing paramilitary asswipes who get drunk, go down and start patrolling the border with assault weapons looking for brown people to murder. They aren’t gonna stop this illegal, murderous, evil bullshit until they get the metaphorical brick to the face, hard enough that it knocks some sense into them, or at least enough fear that they won’t step out of line or form any more drunkard paramilitary groups.

They only kill anybody darker than eggshell white because they’re never punished for their evil, they’ve gotten away with it so much they think what they’re doing is actually okay. The only way that’s gonna happen now is if we have a Little Rock Nine scenario where the national guard’s called in or something and puts down their treasonous little shitshow. Whatever’s done, it has to be BIG, and visible. Otherwise there’ll be no impact. They HAVE to have it drilled into their skulls that what they’re pulling on AMERICANS is NOT OKAY. I don’t fucking care if they’re legal or illegal immigrants, no human is goddamn fucking illegal, they’re here, they’re Americans. End of Story. Only when they’re MADE to understand, through force and confiscation of every last one of their weapons, and I’d additionally add them to a government terrorist database so we can keep tabs on them and make sure they don’t try to stockpile anymore tools of death.

Mr. Bear up above eloquently we MUST remove any semblance of this False Balance/Whataboutism/Bothsiderism Fake Equivalency bullshit. That means the media has to call them out, cut their mics when they spew lies, stop with the live interviews. They need to delay ’em about 30 minutes so if the fuckers lie they have time to edit that crap out, instead they can just post a black screen with the caption “So-and-so lied about such-and-such” refuse to allow them a platform to spread their hate. If any single word of what they say is factually inaccurate, it doesn’t deserve to be given airtime. Truth in Broadcasting laws, anyone breaking them faces a ten million dollar fine, per verifiable lie, per interview. That outta stop the fucking Wayne LaShitter and Dana Lowbrows from going on 3-4 stations and repeating talking points. I’m for one sick and fucking tired of having to give equal airtime to liars. If they were telling the truth and it were just a matter of differences in opinion or strategy, we could hash it out like adults – but they’ve shown themselves incapable of advancing beyond the terrible twos. They CAN’T tell the truth, ergo in the interest of national security, public corporations (and not the government for 1st amendment reasons) have to ban or restrict their speech.

Hate speech laws would help too.

Toronto police chief says civilians failed to help investigation into alleged serial killer

As you would expect, this has not been received well.

“The chief’s remarks are a form of victim blaming, Nicki Ward, a transgender activist said.

“It’s beyond disingenuous,” she said, noting that members of the community
mistrust police. “If you don’t have an organic connection with the

  • billbear1961

If I could write only one more post, it would probably run like this (starting with the bulk of one I wrote earlier tonight and ending with an excerpt from another):

FUCK the GOP, and all who aid and abet them, especially those in the media who define “fair and impartial journalism” as suppressing facts–the readily available and plentiful facts–that reveal–that prove–how evil one side is, so that they can maintain their false equivalencies BULLSHIT. Their JOB is to report the TRUTH, every FACT they can find–it is NOT to deliberately manipulate or suppress facts so they can maintain a narrative to their liking, and it is NOT turning a blind eye while lying propagandists in the media–and in the GOP and Trump’s WH, led by the obviously unfit, pathological LIAR-in-chief–conspire to undermine and DESTROY democracy.

No one can FORCE you to demand access to Trump’s financial history, to demand secure elections and an END to the stacking of the courts with fanatics and the weaponization of law enforcement–to demand these things yourselves and to demand the “serious” media and the Democrats move these issues FRONT AND CENTER–just as no one can FORCE you to make it clear to the GOP that you will NOT, in ANY circumstances, recognize the authority of FASCISTS in this democracy. (It is an evil FARCE that, after what they heard at CPAC, the “journalists” of this country STILL refuse to qualify these truly vile people as the FASCISTS they so obviously ARE. They suppress the truth, and they are normalizing what will DESTROY your democracy, as surely as they normalized and continue to normalize Trump, when they KNOW what a danger he and fascism pose to this country’s democracy. Again, this is not “journalistic impartiality”–no, it is the willful suppression of the TRUTH, which makes them fascism’s ACCOMPLICES.)

Even IF the elections were totally honest and even IF the right–now overwhelmingly fascist–won outright majorities, even THEN, no civilized, decent human being accepts the authority of FASCISTS, says to fascists: “You have full control of our government and may do whatever you wish!” Because fascists–CRIMINALS who despise democracy–backed up by fascists on the courts, their vicious cruelties and pillage of the nation enforced by weaponized law enforcement, will say that ANY crime they wish to commit is not a crime.

What vile OBSCENITIES will Americans let theses MONSTERS commit against innocent MILLIONS before you say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?!

    • Max_1
    • billbear1961

I’m going to really TRY to keep quiet from this point onward, because, whatever happens, I can’t imagine that, in my reaction, I wouldn’t just repeat something I’ve said many, many, MANY times before. I don’t see that it does any real good, and I can see how it might drive some people NUTS.

      • Lars Littlefield

        I like nuts. Cashews, pecans, black walnuts . . . pistachios. 😉

        • billbear1961

There’s a good chance that, unless we start to make real headway against the fascists, really stand up to them–and I include the media in this–unless we really start to hear the media call them what they are and take a strong stand for the truth and democracy–I’m just going to become increasingly strident.

          • canoebum

The kids make good copy, so their empowerment movement will get lots of coverage. They have been awakened and now see the adults have failed and it’s up to them to make the society they want.

You really need a better dictionary.

Humanity will have to deal with this issue of continuing to breed crazy people

Not all do things like this, but a huge majority of the “people” hets are breeding are not capable of coexisting with a society that requires self control to succeed

Upgrading my security system recently the owner of security company commented that 80% in his experience cannot take care of themselves, when I was wondering why so much petty crime

He meant people struggle to make critical decisions (look at debt and savings-it is 80%!), solve problems through violence, do whatever they can without getting caught (downloading copywritten material, text /drive, cheat on taxes etc), can’t get to work on time/make change/not steal from the till. He’s right-it probably is 80%. So few live with good morals and behave well without being forced or shamed into it

Romney was actually right, he just said it in the wrong context. I think it was 47% can’t take care of themselves. I think it’s more like can’t cope so cheat and it’s much higher.

    • canoebum

It must be awful to live with such a negative view of your fellow human beings. You’re right, to a point. But there are probably a lot more decent people among us than you seem willing to acknowledge.

      • killreligion

I agree but then often challenge myself to prove this rule wrong. Go through your day and count people. Driving it’s “cut me off, swerved while texting, broken tail light etc then oh, how nice, she yielded “. Buying things “didn’t answer my question, cut me in line, 30 things in express, wrong change, surprise, held the door for me”. And on and on-empirical data prove it all the time

But it’s not awful. Surround yourself with smart, caring, driven, creative people and you can avoid feeling the impact. Also volunteering/helping where you can reduced the frustration that it’s hopeless

        • canoebum

Keep looking for the good in people; it’s there to be found. Sure, the world is a crude place, but it is, for most of us, what we make of it. As a Buddhist, I believe that my inner life is reflected in the world I experience. If I want to see better things in my daily life, I try to create the better inside of me first. The world will follow. I hear you, though.
