Roy Moore Spox Goes Off The Rails On CNN

Mediaite reports:

Even though Roy Moore has been defeated and the Alabama senate election is over, that didn’t stop campaign spokeswoman Janet Porter from joining CNN today for a wild interview about his attempts to challenge the election results.

Porter spoke to Dana Bash, and she defended her boss by insisting her team has evidence and experts lined up to prove major voter fraud swung the election. “In other words,” Porter said, “this election was fraudulent, and what we need to do is ask the secretary of state to do his job and to investigate this.”

“It’s not about who is elected. It’s about making sure the people of Alabama have the right to make that decision,” Porter said, noting that the evidence said there was a “1 in 15 billion chance” that the election did not contain fraud. “If I was secretary of state, I would like to get to the bottom of it no matter who it is I supported.”

More from Business Insider:

Bash then challenged Porter for citing conspiracy theorists in the campaign’s 84-page lawsuit. One of the citations came from James Condit, who claimed Israel was involved in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and that “Zionists” control major governments.

Another citation came from Richard Charnin, who wrote a book on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, claiming it was the work of a conspiracy. Charnin has also alleged other conspiracies in the realm of voter fraud.

“The reason I bring this up is because this does not sound like somebody who has credible enough information and credible enough ability to be an expert to say Roy Moore should be elected to the Senate,” Bash said.

Porter dismissed the conspiracy theories as “irrelevant to the case” and their credibility. Porter also repeated the phone number for Merrill’s office multiple times during the interview.

But of course everybody knows that people like Roy Moore view the act of voting by persons other than white, male, landed gentry as “voter fraud.” Here’s hoping that he will go away and we will know his name no more.

  • Joe in PA

So, how long can McConnell refuse to seat this guy in the Senate? Like so many other things that have happened in the last few years…could he not seat him at all? Like the SC seat?

    • Can’t and won’t. Jones will be seated in time for the next Senate session in January. Put simply, it’s not up to McConnell to delay beyond the certification. He has no authority to do it.

      • Joe in PA

So, a law is in place? Like the emoluments clause in the constitution? Not being snarky…it just seems like we have so many situations where ‘norms and protocol and we’ve-always-done-it-that-way’ just go by the wayside. This is the new normal. 🙁

  • Oscarlating Wildely

And this, an image just in from the Moore campaign’s office.

  • Y’all know the real reason, of course, Moore and his batshit insane staff & family won’t shut up and refuse to concede the election?

He lost because African American Alabamans showed up in record numbers to vote for Jones and against the ephebophillic twice-impeached former judge. And “black people voting” is what white supremacists like Moore consider to be ‘fraud’ and ‘illegitimate.’

Wouldn’t really matter if the margin difference was 1.6% or 5% or even 15%. They’d still bitch and moan about the election being ‘stolen’ from them because people other than their own supporters were permitted to vote.

And that’s demonstrating just how far the fascism has progressed in the Republican party. Ever since BILL CLINTON, they have increasingly shown they don’t actually believe in America’s system of government, its ideals, or the bedrock principles of a democratic republic under laws and a Constitution.

    • Ron Robertson

Actually, black Americans didn’t show up in record numbers (they had massively higher numbers during the Obama elections), and yet, Moore STILL lost! Love that! Kevin Drum has an article about these numbers over on Mother Jones.

I totally get the snark attributed to racists in your post, I do.

Personally I never use that term although I know you are using it in a snark context of conjuring the mindset of these batshit white assholes like Janet and her ungawdly ilk of hateful racists. She is I am sure careful to speak in code… In this case, alleging “fraud in Jefferson County” meaning of course “black people” whom I’ll just bet in her mind were ordained by her Bronze Age SkyFairy Gawd to be slaves. Damn horrid BITCH that she is.

I know that Black ‘brothers’ sometimes use variations of the term in their own snarky patter, which is sometimes kinda cute, … amongst themselves.

But it is not a term that should ever be uttered by a white person beyond the context of reported speech that shows the racism of the speaker being reported upon.

I am sure lots of white supremacists use the term when they think no one is listening in on them. And then wail pathetically when caught out.

In the context of the Alabama election 99% of any fraud was committed by Moore supporters in their efforts at voter suppression

If there actually were a caring Creator God, he would absolutely be appalled and ashamed of the RedNeck Racists 156 years after the Civil War invoking God’s name in their continuing suppression and abuse of beautiful black American citizens.

Yeah, it’s OK … Joe doesn’t censor very much here other than outright hate speech. The first amendment doesn’t even ban that, but many blogs do an enormous amount of internal censorship, so here there is an amazing degree of internet freedom.

        • kaydenpat

I’m Black. I was being sarcastic although I assume racists like Moore probably use that term.

          • northern_neighbour

I do know it was sarcastic.

(And if you also use it sarcastically with buddies that’s absolutely OK with me, … don’t think it would ever be appropriate for me though, walking in different shoes from you.)

But I can just apologize here, and DO apologize, to everyone who felt my post was insensitive or inappropriate.

JMG gets many sorts of visitors, … not all are insiders, and I notice there are often diverse little misunderstandings within this community as we are not an entirely totally in-sync on a large variety of issues that come up for discussion here. Sorry if you were taken aback, I accept my comment was somewhat ill advised.

And thanks for your response. Happy New Year Kadenpat!

Now that it’s over, God didn’t control it the right way, so now we bitch and accuse and turn to the courts for the answers we want. Most of us with clearer thinking minds can’t understand the reasoning of deeply religious minds like Roy’s or Janet’s. Problem is – they can’t understand either. They pray, “Let it be your will Lord, not mine.” However, when the Lord’s will is not what they want, they forget all about that and decide to change the legit results themselves with legal help, if necessary. RoyBoy, having a legal mind, no less, forgets that an accusation without proof to sustain it, will not go anywhere in the legal system.

In the court filings that the judge threw out, they failed to address ANY point they brought up citing fraud, they didn’t offer any evidence, or proof of any sort where they got their information from. Let it go…. let it go……

      (Cue Disney song…. )

  • Ben in Oakland

Roy, is that god telling you again that he’s just not that into you?

  • Mueller Abides

    The chick’s a loon!

  • Clive Johnson

They wallow in garbage media and degraded information sources 24/7 and can’t imagine that mainstream society is any different. Reality hits them upside the head to no avail.

  • Stubenville

Okay, I’ll bite. Where I vote in Pennsylvania, I have to give the clerk at the polling place my name and then sign a book next to a facsimile of my signature. Is there no similar system in Alabama? Can people just stroll into a polling place, make up a name and be handed a ballot?

    • JAKvirginia

No. But do you think they’ll let that deter their conspiracy theorizing?

  • edrex

looks like she going for the kim davis hair. god. these people creep me out.

  • jimbo65

I kinda miss the other pic Joe used to post of her. You know, the one where it looked like she was straining to take a dump.

    • Secure

      Yes! #MeToo

  • Mike

Batshit crazy Republicans are supposed to be deplorable. But news organizations are supposed to be better than that. Fat chance. Scuzzy operations like CNN are a much bigger threat to society than a few lunatics from Alabama.

  • mikeinftl

    Proof bitch!

    • JAKvirginia

I think I can prove she’s a bitch. Oh, wait. That’s not what you meant, is it.

  • Terry

When Republicans win, no voter fraud

When Republicans lose, there HAS to be voter fraud

Which doesn’t exist, voter suppression however DOES exist!

  • lattebud

Well, at least she has a job and isn’t collecting welfare

  • R W C

What the campaign is saying is the election fraud Moore committed did not get the job done so it should be investigated so that they will be better able to commit successful fraud in the future.

  • are there 15 billion voters in Alabama?

  • teeveedub

This hot mess was just on CNN – again – filibustering with her conspiracy theories and avoiding answering any actual question that the host managed to squeeze in.

On the plus side, because of her willingness to (over)expose herself on this issue, the rest of the nation will now see what JMG aficionados have known for years – that she cray-cray.

  • Richard B

The odious pedophile Roy Moore has been finally defeated and may this homophobic bigoted grifter be driven under his rock and stay there for eternity. The bigoted crazy-ass Dominionist Janet Porter revealed herself too and no one bought what she was selling either. May she slither back under her rock and stay there too.

  • twb6yz

Love how her first comment is that it is the Court’s job to follow the Supreme Court ruling to make sure votes are counted accurately. . .

That takes a hell of a lot of nerve when you’re speaking on behalf of a member of the bench who was removed from office not once, but twice, for failing to follow court rulings.

  • Pizza009

“I sawz black people voting and them all look the same to me!”

  • Dale Snyder

“If I was secretary of state, I would like to get to the bottom of it no matter who it is I supported.”

Your English grammar would embarrass a German, christian asswipe.

  • SDG

But they put these folks on TV….

    • ZRAinSWVA

And that, truly, is a huge part of the problem. If we had a discerning public, we could all sit back and laugh at the idiocy; unfortunately, at least 1/3 of our country is brain dead…

      • SDG

It’s an ignorant, and poorly educated public.

  • Oh, Parker

She does the same thing that all of the desperate right-wing crazies do. Whenever they’re asked a question they change the subject then immediately Gish-gallop, vomiting out 20 different red herrings and straw men that take forever to smack down. It’s a completely disingenuous way of trying to make an argument and they know it, but in lieu of evidence it’s all they’ve got left. They just can’t cope with the fact that the slow, steady progress of time and modern society is showing them the door. It really is quite sad and pathetic when you think about it.

  • Joseph Miceli

I am given to understand that black people turned out in droves to vote against Roy Moore. So, in the minds of these people OF COURSE there must be voter fraud involved.

  • joe ho

    that’s your mind on religion.

  • Conservative shouting “Voter fraud!” = Conservative learning for the first time that the votes of black & brown people are actually counted instead of simply getting dropped in a dumpster out back.

  • Mark McGovern

But oh, the entertainment value of the aftermath of the Alabama election is ever so sweet. Let’s do another. And another. And another.

  • Gerry Fisher

““It’s not about who is elected. It’s about making sure the [white] people of Alabama have the right to make that decision,” Porter said”

  • bonncaruso

Janet Porter and the heartbeat bill in Ohio. She is a total nutjob.

  • Terry

I just thought about it: Jefferson County went overwhelmingly for Doug Jones (by 83K votes)

From wikipedia: He carried Jefferson by over 83,800 votes, and Montgomery by almost 30,500 votes; either county would have been more than enough to give him the victory. Jones also dominated the Black Belt. He took over 96 percent of the black vote, and 61 percent of votes from those under 45 (,_2017)

  • Terry

How convenient, she wants to invalidate a County that went for Jones 68%-30%
