UH OH: Roy Moore’s Spox Abruptly Quits Campaign

The Washingtonian reports:

John Rogers has resigned as communications director from Roy Moore’s Senate campaign, according to a source familiar with the matter. Reached by phone on Wednesday, Rogers confirmed his resignation. He declined to comment further.

The move comes as allegations of sexual misconduct against the Alabama Republican continue to roil his campaign. Moore has denied those allegations, but several prominent Republicans, including Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, have withdrawn their endorsements.

The Republican National Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee have also dropped their support.

  • Pollos Hermanos

My money is on a love child coming forward.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

Yes, it sounds like there might be something even a comm director can’t handle. Because I can’t figure out why else he’d dump a likely-win campaign now.

      • Pollos Hermanos

Abruptly on the day before a holiday weekend. This is like a Friday news dump on steroids.

        • Jay George

Yeah he prolly got caught doing something he shouldn’t his own self. He didn’t suddenly develop a conscience over night.

          • agcons

I agree. While reading the story I thought it was a wee bit too late for him to develop a conscience, and that there had to be something really big and nasty around the corner.

          • Librarykid

Watch Rachel. She will have the dirt and take great pleasure in serving it up.

    • ben-andy

It really couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

    • Tomcat

My money is on homosexual activity surfacing.

    • Paula

Or finding out that the last 14 year old girl he accosted was back in June of this year,

Him paying for an abortion would be more damaging in AL

    • jerry

Or worse, for AL, he paid for an abortion.

  • billbear1961

Preach us a SERMON, you goddamned MONSTER!

  • DreadPikathulhu

Wish I could say that this was rats leaving a sinking ship, but the people of Alabama have yet to show any signs of doing the right thing.

  • Tomcat

Found out he was related to one or more of the accusers.

    • Sporkfighter

Why would that matter to the fine voters of Alabama?

    • Rambie

I figured that’d be a given in Alabama!

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

I guess the radical libtards bribed yet another one.

    • Jay George

Local media comments blaming George Soros in 3..2..

  • Tomcat

Just asking, have you all stuffed your turkey yet?

  • Sam_Handwich

    let the news dump continue!!!

maybe Crabby Ann Conway will quit.

    maybe some indictments !!

  • Lazycrockett

Don’t fear Bannon will bring someone in.

  • Prost Seattle

So is it even money on live boy or dead girl? My guess? A black girl is waiting in the wings.

    • Treant

Now that just might force him to lose the election. Fucking a kid? No problem. Fucking a black kid?

      Race traitor.

      • PDQ

Fucking a young man would probably be equally bad to fucking a black kid. He’s virulently homophobic – to the point where it calls his motives into question.

I could see this whole pursuit of young women situation as a very twisted way to establish his heterosexual bonfires. If he’s not really attracted to women, he might have gone after teen girls who weren’t experienced and didn’t know how much of a lousy lay he was. It would throw people off the scent as far as any close friendships he might have had with men. He was born in 1947, but didn’t marry till 1985 which is suspicious.

I realize that’s some twisted logic, but we ARE talking Alabama here.

        • Treant

          Actually, that makes perfect sense!

Or he had a DNA test and it turns out he has ancestors from Kenya.

    • Gregory B

Perhaps with Moore’s child born out of wedlock?

    • james1200

You kidding? Their ancestors spent most of their time in the slave quarters and many of them have kept the tradition going. They have no problem having sex with black women, it’s treating black people as equals they have a problem with. Now, if it’s a black boy…

    • another_steve

There must be serious shit still to come out.

When the likes of an immoral scumbag like Ted Cruz abandons you, you must most definitely be bad news indeed.

    • Todd20036

It’s too late. Moore was a law breaker and a religious nut before it came out where he stuck his dick.

The only jobs the SPOX will be able to get are with other RWNJs.

And even they may not want to be even tangentially associated with Moore.

    • Helen Damnation™

Oh goody, I can’t fucking wait! Or, the black girl got pregnant and then GASP, had an ABORTION! THAT HE PAID FOR!

    • JCF

If, as I predicted, black girl is waiting, “with the wings of an angel”.

  • MikeBx2

I agree with Joy. Former Communications Director for a child molester is going to be hard to shake off.

    • Cuberly Deux

I’d have one caveat on that. Depends on his connections within the talibanjelical cabal. If he’s a religious zealot, most likely, he’ll land on his feet.

      • billbear1961

We don’t need ANY further proof of their unbelievable, truly MONSTROUS hypocrisy.

If I were a believer, if I believed Christ were the Son of God, I would not hesitate to label these evil monsters the servants of the Antichrist!

    • Prost Seattle

    • billbear1961

Not in THIS vile country–not on the goddamned DEPRAVED right!

Decent people have got to face up to the fact we ARE in a, as yet undeclared, for the moment, cold, CIVIL WAR.

You cannot–CANNOT–recognize or submit to the “authority” of these MONSTERS in ANY circumstances!!

We are approaching the BREAKING POINT unless you’re actually willing to let these evil animals DESTROY this democracy; for they ARE consolidating power, and will SOON control the COURTS!!

    • sfbob

Tough position to fill as well, don’t ya think?

  • Tomcat

I gave up getting excited about any good news because it is always followed by much more bad news and all the things congress screwed us with during the week.
Now I just take my meds and try to stay sane until check out time.

    • billbear1961

      🙁

  • Treant

    Child Fucking Director. So…he procures?

  • Leo

“Is a child molester worse than a Democrat Mr. President? MR. PRESIDENT??!!”

    • Tomcat

He already said yes to that one.

      • Tomcat

Err, I mean he said NO.

        • Leo

Just the moment she shreaks that question out from the scrum and his face lurches around. It was just a moment. One of many.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

Maybe he pulled a Joe Barton and forgot.

  • Cuberly Deux

That press conference they gave yesterday was one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen. The desperate way they attempted to discredit the accusers by breaking out some minor details and calling them into question. ie; the dumpsters were on the side of the restaurant not in the back. Then they took turns ranting and raving about the media and McConnell. Not only is Moore unhinged, seems his entire entourage is a bunch of raving lunatics.

    • Librarykid

Maybe he should be trying for a position in the White House if he is unhinged.

  • billbear1961

The GOP has betrayed–IS betraying–this Republic; but keep pretending otherwise!

Pretend it believes in good government, genuine democracy, equal protection, due process, objective TRUTH, any notion of fairness or JUSTICE!

Pretend it isn’t the single greatest threat to democracy–to the rights and even the very LIVES of MILLIONS–that this Republic has known since its CIVIL WAR!!

Pretend this, politicians and pundits and MSM–do ANYTHING but face up to the NIGHTMARE so OBVIOUSLY staring you in the face!!

Any legitimate authority that party of liars, thieves, sellouts, fanatics and PREDATORS could once lay claim to is FORFEIT!!

FACE IT AND ACT TO SAVE THE REPUBLIC!!

Election day, November 2018, the first Tuesday following the first Monday is election day and all Democrats should be voting; the hell with marching. If all of the women who marched in January, 2017 had actually voted for the Democrats in November, 2017, we would not have the current 45.

    • Opinion Sousaphones

I enjoyed that. I do have some questions… Is it entirely legal to put this music up on Youtube? I see that there is quite a lot of it up there… just wondering if I am harming the artists by listening for free? I do not have the money to buy it anyways, so I would not be doing much harm. Still, I would not want to be stealing from artists, who I hear seldom suffer from an over abundance of funds.

    • Treant

Well, to be fair, it does take a special sort of sicko to deal with press challenges of child molesting.

      “not enough experience” ????

Since when was that a barrier to high office ?

Could such a preposterous notion spread ?

      • Snarky

The “experience” quote was in reference to the Comms guy, not Moore. It was said by someone with much more experience as he threw Rogers under the bus.

        • JackFknTwist

Yeah, yeah……………but it applies to all those pius frauds !

      • JCF

        “not enough experience”

        • Librarykid

Maybe the campaign needs to consult the Catholic Church.

    • skyweaver

Or you could not molest children for decades and then you don’t have this problem

      • agcons

        It’s so easy!

    • Apparently he had just a smidge of conscience about little girls being sexually molested, and that’s a non-starter for this campaign.

    • stevenj

I’m sure Moore’s wife can fill in.

    • CB

But in all fairness, WHAT experience would he have to make him a better comm director? Used to do PR for John Wayne Gacy?

    • JT

Yeah, Rogers did not have experience trolling for young teen girls at the mall. Lacking such experience, he couldn’t be a spokesperson for Moore.

    • sfbob

Successful deflection requires certain skills, depending upon this specifics. In this instance Rogers didn’t have adequate experience in deflecting from pedophilia. Have they said anything about a replacement? Because I doubt there are too many people out there with the sort of experience his campaign thinks would be needed. Not that I’d ever want to hire someone who could pull that sort of thing off.

  • Ninja0980

Either Moore’s poll numbers are really bad or shit is about to really hit the fan.
No way this guy resigned due to a having a conscience.

    • Tomcat

      Conscience, that’s a good one.

    • Treant

Shit. Fan. Moore’s numbers are pretty even, and that’s not including the Republican finger on the scale.

      • Oh, Parker

I don’t trust poll numbers in cases like this. There are probably lots of people who are too ashamed to admit they are voting for him yet intended to all along. Whether or not he wins, they will say they they didn’t vote for him just to save face, yet will be just fine if he wins.

        • Helen Damnation™

Like with Trump. The numbers were off a bit due to this.

        • Skeptical_Inquirer

I think they should be told we are going to assume they voted for Moore anyway.

    • Snarkaholic

My guess: Another victim will come forward…who was Far Younger than 14 when he molested her.

          • ColdCountry

            That did cross my mind….

      • Paul

Or said kid was a lot more recent. I doubt the pig stopped molesting after the 70s.

    • geoffalnutt

Ha! “Repigs”/”conscience” should never be seen in the same sentence. A Repig will murder, skin, cook and eat its own offspring on National TV if it thinks there is money in it. Please.

IIRC, I heard of something similar, the hotel had to pay Trump to get out of the association agreement. But considering this, I don’t see any other hotel wanting to touch anything with a Trump-connected name in the future.

      • Halou

If he lost anything it will be made up for by pilfering from Eric’s “charity”, robbing the Secret Service, or inviting foreign governments to party at the Emoluments Hotel.

      • Oscarlating Wildely

But sadly merchants near his hotel locations do. On the way to oogle his Orangeness? Not seeing many people stop by Tiffany’s along the way (the store, not his daughter. Girl’s been on a shopping spree and is door crashing on Friday. Good for her!)

      • stevenj

        Another great big tax deduction.

      • jerry

The one consolation is it effects future earnings…like any franchise, they take a percentage of gross income for the name rights. And others, hopefully, will be more circumspect in doing future business with this crime family.

    • Apparently the only people staying at Trump-branded properties nowadays are those looking for bribery and/or money laundering opportunities.

  • Cuberly Deux

As per my prior point. That nutty conference they had yesterday. When WaPo asked for proof that discounted some of their reporting the Moore campaign just flailed and called WaPo a bunch of doody heads. They basically had a tantrum.

“Moore campaign calls Washington Post a ‘piece of cr*p’ for asking them to substantiate its attacks on accusers”

    https://www.rawstory.com/2017/11/moore-campaign-calls-washington-post-a-piece-of-crp-for-asking-them-to-substantiate-its-attacks-on-accusers/

KInda shows just how random and disorganized they are don’t it? They have no clue how to handle any of this.

    • Boreal

Normally in ‘Bama’ they wouldn’t have to but this is in the national spotlight now.

My cheesecake is almost done before it sits in the fridge over night.

    • Rex

      Now I want cheesecake.

    • AmeriCanadian

I have never made cheesecake before and am tasked with bringing dessert to a dinner Saturday evening. How difficult is it? Should I even attempt it?

      • Blake J Butler

If you like Oreos I made one I found online with a tutorial from a girl that
made one and had the ingredients she used with it. I fudged a little bit with the crumb base which is also Oreos and melted butter mixture to cover the springform pan and the actual mixture is easy to make it just takes common
sense withdraw a mixer to thoroughly make sure all of the ingredients are added into the bowl that is on the sides.

I personally thought it was easy to make, have it sit for 8 hours instead of the 24 and it should turn out good.

        https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=y8wGfaLxhpc

        • AmeriCanadian

Thank you. Some (hopefully simple) questions…do you coat the spring-form pan with anything? Wax paper or PAM or Crisco? Is it really sticky after baking? Do you leave it in the pan while it cools in the fridge?

I think I’m going to try it. What do I have to lose? 😉 Thanks for the link!

          • Blake J Butler

I didn’t do it, but if I were you I would take parchment paper and make a cut to line the pan or at least spray it or coat it before making the Oreo crumb crust. The girl in the video didn’t do it, but it would be fine I think if you didn’t do that.

In my pan it looked like it wasn’t hugging the pan and would detach itself without using a butter knife and going around the edges when time comes to remove the sides of the pan.

            Your welcome 😁

          • CB

I generally coat the pan with a light bit of butter. Let it cool outside the fridge for a while till it’s room temperature. I’ve found that if you put it in the fridge to soon, it isn’t as light when you take it out. Good rule of thumb though is once it’s cool, chill overnight. Just be slow and deliberate when you open the springform.

          • CB

I also use Vanilla Wafer crumbs for the crust. Mix with about 3/4 or a stick of melted butter and press into the pan. If you’re making an Oreo cheesecake, do the same with Oreos. Run them through the food processor to make great crumbs.

          • AmeriCanadian

Terrific advice. I love this blog!

          • Blake J Butler

Also I will add use more Oreos to made a border wall for the crust because A it looks pretty and it’s suppose to help keep the cake together when you cut it. Appearance and functionality.

      • Blake J Butler

I also started at 10 this morning and I had the cake in the oven a little before 12 because of unforeseen incidents with my mixer going haywire. It should take no time more than that to get it into the oven.

      • BearEyes

it is pretty easy to make. Food Network has multiple recipes with a very quick search. Couple pointers though
        http://www.foodnetwork.com/search/cheesecake-
        make it a day ahead
make sure your cream cheese, sour cream, and eggs are all at room temperature – makes mixing easier.
Don’t over mix it (don’t mix air into the batter)
I prefer the version with the sour cream as it’s a bit tangier and richer.
wrap some foil around the bottom of the pan before you put it into the bain marie.

        • AmeriCanadian

Thanks! I found several online videos so I’m going to try. I have time…it’s for Saturday evening and I’m off work the next four days. Appreciate the advice!

          • BearEyes

enjoy. let us know how it comes out.
One more tip – at the end of the baking, the centre will appear to be under-cooked. That’s OK. As it sits with the oven off, that will firm up. The reason to do it this way is that if the whole thing is fully cooked in the oven before the slow cool down, the top will crack.

          • AmeriCanadian

It came out perfectly! Your advice was spot on. The center did look under-cooked even though the edges had pulled away. I left it in the oven until it was fully cooled then it was in the fridge overnight. I garnished with whipped cream and oreo crumbs. It was not dry at all, very creamy. Big hit!

            https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/192ccf82a3dd2198c4e815618861c9650171be2c08ca25e9f7c3a9f9e5821d9a.jpg

          • BearEyes

            Looks delicious!
So glad it worked out well. The edge pulling away and the centre a little under-done looking is the sweet spot (no pun intended 😉 Glad your guests enjoyed it. Now you know how to make it, there are a number of variations you can experiment with like lemon, pumpkin, marbled, and so forth. Have fun.

I garnished with whipped cream and oreo crumbs but didn’t take a pic since I was at someone else’s home.

So how did you do your cheesecake? you do an oreo crumb base, with Oreos in it and eventually with crumbs on top? besides the whipped cream.

        • AmeriCanadian

It was a recipe I found online. Oreo crumb & butter base (1.33 cups Oreo crumbs and 3 Tbsp melted butter), 24 ounces of regular cream cheese, 8 ounces melted semi-sweet chocolate, 1 cup sugar, 3 eggs, and 1 tsp vanilla. Everything is at room temperature to start. Beat on very low speed the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Add the chocolate and mix thoroughly. Then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing each thoroughly. Pour over the Oreo “crust” that was pressed into bottom (not baked) of spring form pan. Bake for 45-55 minutes at 325. My oven runs hot so once I saw the edges pull away at around 42 minutes, I shut off the heat, opened the door, and let it sit for four hours in the oven. The center was “jiggly” when I shut off the heat but it turned solid when it fully cooled. I put it in the fridge uncovered overnight. I brought it to my dinner party in the state shown in the pic and cut it into 8 pieces and put whipped cream on top of each piece and sprinkled some Oreo crumbs on top of the whipped cream. Since I used real whipped cream, I couldn’t put it on until I was ready to serve it. Thanks to the advice I received here and online it turned out perfectly! I will be able to make another with confidence.

P.S. This recipe did not call for Oreo crumbs in the batter. It’s rather plain but very rich with a strong chocolate flavor. Because I did not over bake it, it was very “melt in your mouth” creamy and not dry or flaky like some cheesecakes can be.

Well, I cannot say that I am surprised. Americans often see aristocrats (and the royals, in particular) through rose-tinted glasses… a little reading of history could fix that, bring about a more nuanced and less fawning view, but it never seems to happen. I do not advocate the wholesale murder of classes, which results in the death of many harmless and innocent folk, but, I understand the impulse. Besides, Trump-like things just fill the vacuum.

      • CottonBlimp

Tbh, I don’t understand how anyone with half a brain doesn’t loathe the whole royal family. Aside from just how ridiculous it is for a Western, 21st century nation to still carry on with this absurd shit, the royal family has a long history of friendship with some of the most disgusting dictators in history. The paradise papers weren’t even a surprise, really.

        • billbear1961

Not in the mood to defend constitutional monarchies, and will only repeat, for the hundredth time, that few nations in the world equal, and none surpass, their record for progressive EXCELLENCE.

This BACKWARDS, CRUEL, BENIGHTED, increasingly BANANA republic, teetering precariously on the brink of true EVIL, certainly has NO BUSINESS looking down its unbelievably hypocritical nose–on either of its TWO FACES–at ANY of them.

Oreo cheesecake, a supposed copycat of the oreo cheesecake from the cheesecake factory, minus a layer of chocolate mousse which i did not add to mine. The recipe is easy to follow its just what you need, sugar, salt, Oreos, all purpose flour, cream cheese, vanilla extract, sour cream, all the ingredients and measurements are with the links including the video how to make it.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8wGfaLxhpc

and the recipe. HINT: Buy family sized oreos i used a whole package of Oreo’s on the crust and the middle, and on top to coat it with. Be liberal with the oreos.

          • Danieruw

That’s sounds amazing! No time to make it for Thanksgiving, but I think I’ll try for X-mas. Thanks!

I remember when milk came in bottles like that, with a paper cap folded around the edge and the name of the dairy printed on top. The milkman delivered to our house. Everyone had a small insulated box next to the kitchen door. You could leave a note of what you needed, butter, eggs, cream, etc. and he would get it from the truck or the next day it would be delivered. The bill was paid monthly. You put the empties into the box and they were taken back to be cleaned and reused. I also used to go with my grandfather to farms where he would buy beans, peas, cabbages and fruits by the bushel or peck. We’d spend the afternoon shelling peas or snapping beans on the porch, while my grandmother washed and bagged the finished produce for the freezer in the basement. The baskets would be returned to the farm on the next visit. He had breakfast sausage made to his own recipe at a local butcher shop and bought eggs from a local farmer. Every spring and fall, my grandparents went to the Outer Banks for a month, where he fished. They always came home coolers full of fresh caught and filleted fish, which we could have all through the year.

      • Adam King

That’s how life was. We also had a vegetable patch, apple trees and berry bushes out in the back of the yard by the trash burner.

      • Librarykid

I still have the insulated box from a local dairy.

      • Jay George

What a wonderful memory. I came along just before Milkmen went away for good. Bottled milk in reusable containers brought to your door fresh every day. How did they think they could improve on that? We are going to convenience ourselves into extinction at this rate. We used to supplement our diets with fish we caught when I was growing up too, but now the government puts out a list of what lakes they deem as “safe” for fishing. So many of our fresh water lakes and streams have been contaminated with runoff and fallout from the coal mining industry. Fish now comes with a warning. I miss clean food.

Interesting…but it also bothers me that these reports continue to tout Ted Cruz as “prominent.” He’s a first-term senator who’s main claim to fame is being an obstructionist who helped shut down the government whilst reading “Cat in the Hat.” Yes, he ran for president (delusions of grandeur and all that), but why do we keep giving technically insignificant people these lofty titles. Mr. Moore was not known in the full public sphere (JMG excepted) until he decided to run for the Senate. Reality TV life. Oy!
