ALABAMA: Doug Jones +8 In New Fox News Poll

The Hill reports:

A new Fox News poll released Thursday shows Democrat Doug Jones leading by 8 points in the Alabama Senate race in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against GOP candidate Roy Moore.

The poll, conducted Nov. 13-15, shows that 50 percent of likely voters in deep-red Alabama and 49 percent of registered voters said they would vote for Jones. Only 42 percent of likely voters and 40 percent of registered voters would vote for Moore.

The last Fox News poll on the race, conducted in mid-October, showed Jones and Moore tied. Another recent poll from the Senate GOP’s campaign arm showed Moore trailing by double digits.

  • Lazycrockett

There is nothing the GOP can do at this point. Moore is on the ballot, a write in campaign would split the vote. Its gonna be a very interesting night.

    • Tomcat

They still think if they can get strange to quit early they can appoint someone in his spot,,, like Sessions. And they might actually do that dastardly of a thing.

  • Judas Peckerwood

“Only 42 percent of likely voters and 40 percent of registered voters would vote for Moore.”

    “Only”

  • another_steve

Some experienced political analysts agree: Moore has a very good chance of winning.

  • gaycuckhubby

FOX News generally is spot on with their polling… but the Oct numbers seem like outliers?

    • Lazycrockett

I wouldn’t trust any non local polling. Hell at this point I wouldn’t trust what anyone is saying.

  • Texndoc

When you read people used to “lie” to pollsters about Trump imagine the shame of your next door neighbor hearing you tell a pollster you’re voting Moore. Yes I expect another one of those “hidden votes” elections from pissed off people.

    • clay

      So did Secessions.

    • Nic Peterson

      Strange, huh?

  • gaycuckhubby

Probably too much confusion about expulsion, write ins etc… to be solid numbers imho

  • joe ho

But can Dem voters be pulled away from their TVS and off their couches to go to the polls?

    • gaycuckhubby

They were in VA! Let’s hope so!

    • Tomcat

Just make sure joe votes when his time comes.

  • bkmn

Its not over till its over. If in Alabama, vote, help others vote, do what you can to get Doug Jones elected.

    • Todd20036

We’re still screwed, because when it’s over, Maggie Gallager is going to sing. *shudder*

      • Stephen Elliot Phillips

        shudder? or udder?

      • FAEN

Jeebus I had forgotten about that slag.

    • Snarkaholic

Especially talk to all college students you know; the majority of them have at least a few brain cells (and enough concern for social/environmental issues that they may be persuadable).

      • RLK2

Also, need to get the African – American vote in AL in large numbers and hopefully suburban women and men.

  • gaycuckhubby
  • IAMBOWLINGQUEEN

When Jones’ lead moves into the teens, then Moore will get excited.

    • Tread

LOL, I just laughed so loud my coworkers all swiveled.

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

i see what you did there :~)

    • clay

      excited :: exited

    • GayOldLady

      Brilliant!

    • FAEN

You win the internets today lol.

    • AW

I laughed, but I feel bad because real people were hurt at a young age and that SUCKS. It’s a laugh to keep from crying thing… been doing that a lot lately.

    • RLK2

      Best response of the day!

    • JCF

You sure he’d never hit on someone who’s 8?

  • Stephen Elliot Phillips

Will there be an election? If McTurtle could weasle and slime his way out of hearings on a obama SCOTUS nominee…….and get away with it. Im not hopeful. Mitchie will pull something out of his fetid, deep, dark ass

  • Tomcat

Keep up the push now to keep Moore running. Now they will try harder than before to get him out.

  • Mako

We need to keep our eye on the prize and not get distracted by distracting hitjobs that are meant to run interference and give cover to Roy Moore.

    http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/360726-stone-appeared-to-know-franken-allegation-was-coming

This whole Al Franken thing was a hitjob with Roger Stone’s grimy fingerprints all over it. Furthermore, Brietbart was ready to run the story pretty damn fast. We need to wake up and know when we’re being played. They’re fighting back, and we should too.

    • Rumplestiltskin

I’ve got my eye on the prize – voting for Doug Jones on December 12th. If we all fled and left for ‘safe’ blue islands as many do, there would be no one left here to vote against our twice-removed former Chief Justice.

  • Lizard

They’re trying to motivate faltering Republicans and convince Democrats that they’ve got it in the bag. Don’t fall for it, minority of sane people in Alabama!

    • gaycuckhubby

Or they did a legit poll 🙂

      • Lizard

        Fox News?

        • gaycuckhubby

Yes. They actually do really accurate polls. They have a good reputation with pollsters

          • The_Wretched

Let’s hope the voting machines are as good as the polls. Absent a paper audit record, however, I have my doubts.

    • Bubba in TX

I generally hate conspiracy theories, but everything is so topsy-turvy these days that I can’t completely rule out this possibility.

Democrats in Alabama (and everyone else who is for Jones), fake or real polls, please vote, encourage others to vote, and consider helping those who want to vote but have challenges getting to the polls.

We can breathe again once Jones actually wins the election.

      • justme

IF Jones wins…Will Mitch go back into his shell and not come out??

        • Lizard

          With any luck…

  • gaycuckhubby

Even when Hillary led big she never got 50%

Have Alabamaniacs actually sprouted grey matter?

  • Ninja0980

I’ll believe it when I see him winning and not before that.

    • Lizard

To paraphrase Treant from earlier, there’s only one poll that matters.

    • gaycuckhubby

Hoping for an early XMas gift

    • melllt

Hopefully the republicans will stay home and the democrats can get a big turnout

  • Todd Allis

I just threw a little money towards the Jones campaign. Let’s do this!

    • gaycuckhubby

      Yes!

  • JT

Moore: Come on. They’re too young for it to be pussy. It’s just kitty. And who doesn’t love a kitty.

    • Lizard

      …I just puked a little.

      • JT

        I’m sure he didn’t.

  • aagold76 .

doubtful- either people are saying one thing to the pollster, then will sneak off to privacy of polls and vote Moore- OR- Fox is trying to scare people into turning out.

    • gaycuckhubby

FOX News polls are solid… but I fear the “hidden vote” possibilities

  • gaycuckhubby
    • Paul

Something must be off/skewed with that poll.

Obama (they do realize he’s black, right?) with majority favorables…in ALABAMA?!?!!?! Toothless Hick-ville Alabama?!

      • clay

It’s not like it’s Arkansas or West Virginia.

      • Lizard

You do know that the stereotypes of Alabama, though based on a sliver of truth, are massively blown out of proportion, right?

    • clay

All the links to the poll seem to lead to the same dead end at Anderson Robbins– page not found. I wish we could look at the breakdown. There’s nothing related in their news feed or archives, either.

  • Lawerence Collins

Is this really how he wants to win?!? This isn’t how I’d want to win. I’d want to win on my record and platform.
That said, Roy Moore belongs in prison https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4dc6edfe1cbdfe1507f055c791d69f649f2f71daa282ece65fe194a5991ebbd6.jpg

    • Lizard

Moore’s the one who refused to debate. Jones agreed to it.

Who’s not running on their platform? Moore, by a long shot.

      • JT

        It’s a Roosky troll.

      • Lawerence Collins

I stand corrected then. I’ve only seen ads for Jones, that are connected to this Moore scandal.

    • KnownDonorDad

This is exactly why he will win.

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

“Daddy get off me. Yer rinklin ma dress! Judge moore will be here any minute to take me to the mall”

  • gaycuckhubby
    • Lizard

Even if the poll is reputable and in good faith, the environment is too volatile right now to get accurate numbers. How much talk have we heard about write-in candidates in the past few days?

Plus, as frustrating as it is, this scandal will not still be fresh a month from now. People may be outraged now, but once removed from it by a few weeks will second-guess their outrage, aided by a blatantly partisan media telling them it was really no big deal to begin with.

      • gaycuckhubby

I largely agree… too much up in the air for reliable numbers. Voters probably don’t have a clear idea yet what they will do on election day

      • Reality.Bites

I think it will still be fresh in Alabama, where it counts. He’s not going to be quiet and his every utterance will be news there.

And regardless of what happens in 2020,which is when it’s up for election again (presidential year), it will have a big effect in the interim. It will certainly fuel the numbers of Republicans choosing not to run again.

        • Paul

Assuming Trump goes the way he’s going after the midterms next year, 2020 is likely to be for Democrats what 1980 was for the Republicans.

    • Tomcat

Yeah, well they spend all the rest of their time pushing Moore don’t they?

      • gaycuckhubby

        Seperate issues tho

        • clay

Yeah, it’s like the news division farms out the polls, but the entertainment division controls the talking heads.

  • Henry Auvil

If a Democrat can take back a senate seat in Alabama, I will be amazed, but so grateful. Maybe just to tip the scales, Mr. Jones should throw out a little chum about welfare queens in cadillacs and big, strapping bucks buying steaks with food stamps. They like that shit down there.

  • boobert

I have no faith in polls since the moron won. I think people are lying to the pollsters because they’re ashamed. Surprise me Alabama, oh please surprise me !

  • clay

Something’s confusing in this for me– usually the “likely” voters are more heavily GOP than the “registered” voters, but this is the reverse. Is Moore shedding GOP women that heavily?

  • Ninja0980

    I will say this.
Even if Jones win, like Scott Brown in MA did, come general election time, that seat will revert to form.

    • gaycuckhubby

      Totes

    • Cuberly Deux

      Yep.

    • Sam

Probably, but if Jones wins next month, he won’t be up for reelection until 2020.

    • CottonBlimp

Alabama’s Alambama, but if Jones wins this seat, the republicans will be down to only 51 senators, which means it will only take 2 dissenters to keep the GOP from passing anything, which will go a *long* way towards protecting us til 2020, which will be our first real opportunity to flip everything.

That is a BIG deal, which I think is part of why so many GOP figures are willing to embrace the child molester.

  • FAEN

Call me jaded but I won’t believe it until Jones wins. Period.

  • Tom G

I can’t stress this enough: people interviewed for a poll may be unwilling to publicly state they’d vote for a pedophile. I fear that they will vote for him in private. We cannot let up. Please donate.

    • LeeCMH

I lived in North Carolina for years — during Jesse Helms time in the senate.

We used to call it the redneck factor.

These people harbor extreme hatred, but do not want just anyone to know.

Experience tells me, Moore will win.

      • Hal Witherspoon

I still live in North Carolina and parts of this state has changed since then. However, the redneck factor is still in effect for much of the state.

  • Pluto Animus

The voters have already made up their minds.

That means virtually all of the people who claimed to be undecided are planning to vote for Moore but won’t admit it.

So right now, the race is really a toss-up.

  • Keith D Plane

I don’t believe polls anymore still believe Moore will win

  • Jean-Marc in Canada
  • Sam

There’s an article today on Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball about how they have changed their rating on this seat from Likely Republican to Lean Democrat.

  • Hank

I cannot wait until this election is over. I get almost 10 emails/day wanting $$$ for the Jones Campaign. Sick of getting them, when I do not live in the state!

    • SFHarry

But you live in this country!

  • Secure

    Jones leading Judge Whore!?

  • RLK2

We need to get Jones above the 50% mark to be safe.

  • Ben in Oakland

If 8% are undecided about whether to vote for a pedophile or a Democrat….

    Moor will win.

  • DesertSun59

Jones is now outside the margin of error. As long as non-delusional people vote he will win.

  • JCF

This means that Jones has a SOLID chance. Flip this seat! Donate! dougjonesforsenate.com

  • Kevin Andrews

Hope springs infernal. A Democrat from Alabama after the “Southern Strategy?”

  • joe ho

But will liberals get off their couches and to the polls? Jones isn’t the kind of messianic figure liberals need to think voting is more important than watching the Kardashians. Lack of political discipline is why Dems lose so much more than they should.
