REPORT: Impeachment Buzz Rattles WH Insiders

Vanity Fair reports:

Until now, Robert Mueller has haunted Donald Trump’s White House as a hovering, mostly unseen menace. But by securing indictments of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, and a surprise guilty plea from foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, Mueller announced loudly that the Russia investigation poses an existential threat to the president.

“Here’s what Manafort’s indictment tells me: Mueller is going to go over every financial dealing of Jared Kushner and the Trump Organization,” said former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg. “Trump is at 33 percent in Gallup. You can’t go any lower. He’s fucked.”

The first charges in the Mueller probe have kindled talk of what the endgame for Trump looks like, according to conversations with a half-dozen advisers and friends of the president. For the first time since the investigation began, the prospect of impeachment is being considered as a realistic outcome and not just a liberal fever dream.

According to a source, advisers in the West Wing are on edge and doing whatever they can not to be ensnared. One person close to Dina Powell and Gary Cohn said they’re making sure to leave rooms if the subject of Russia comes up.

Further down in the above-linked piece, Steve Bannon is reported to blame Kushner for the latest dumpster fire. Bannon is also reportedly worried about a 25th Amendment revolt from Trump’s cabinet.

How utterly stupid must you be if NOW is the moment you are rattled about Trump Impeachment prospects.

          • RoFaWh

There’s a Greek myth on that very subject. Those given eternal life but not eternal youth end up as crickets.

BTW, that lady needs some serious advice. She’s far too old and wrinkly to wear a bikini, or even to show her skin off at all in good light. Ever wonder why older gays prefer to turn the lights off before disrobing?

Well, he has been protected by a majority in Congress who care more about protecting their jobs than protecting the company. At a certain point, there will be far too much in the open for them to continue that. Although, there is still 33 percent of the country who are immune to facts.

    • Karl Dubhe

      They only watch Fox News.

They’ll get what they deserve, and can keep on watching it in prison.

I read an article on Friday, when it was first announced indictments were coming, that all of Trump’s attorneys were either at home or vacationing…everyone caught by surprise. So yes, utterly stupid.

Dear WH Staff, remember that staffers were the ones who went to prison over Watergate. He will throw you under the bus without hesitation.

That loyalty to Trump is only a one-way street is one of the few things that gives me any hope that Trump will be out of office before his terms is up. However, I can’t help but think that Republicans will turn a blind eye to Trump’s corruption and obstruction of justice, no matter how much evidence gets publicized.

      • Jeffg166

  • The_Wretched

New name for me in that article. Dina Powell. She apparently works at the NSC and used to be at Goldman-Sachs. Very swampy. Oddly, the article says she leaves the room whenever Russia is mentioned (so does gary cohen). We haven’t seen what her connection to Russia is yet.

    • Tawreos

She may be smart enough to keep from having one.

    • Natty Enquirer

  • Lazycrockett

The GOP serves their Oligarchs and they want their tax cuts. Nothing will happen.

    • Uncle Mark

I would normally agree with you, but these (and future) indictments won’t go to trial, until well-within the 2018 midterms. These ongoing trials will be crippling to the complicit GOP…PLUS Trump’s self-sucking buddy, Bannon, is working to undermine the establishment GOP. For the sake of their own survival, they will have to jettison Trump & Co.

      • Karl Dubhe

Same, I would have agreed at one point. But not anymore.

Bannon’s name turns up in that piece an awful lot for someone who supposedly doesn’t work in the White House anymore.

  • The Sentinel

Impeachment Buzz gives me a boner.

  • AdamTh

Impeachment is a political process. With the GOP/NRA/Nazis in control of Congress, I don’t see that happening.

I can see Donnie being indicted and tried in a regular criminal court, along with the rest of his thugs..

    • The_Wretched

He might be indicted but the indictment would sit there until he’s out of office with nothing going on.

    • Sam_Handwich

on the other hand, republicans in congress are more interested in keeping their own jobs than with Dotard keeping his. heading into midterms with a party leader who has 33% approval really sucks.

and also, Mueller has only revealed the tip of the iceberg. we’ll see where the next few months lead

      • another_steve

That, Sam… plus I believe most congressional Republicans would much prefer Pence at the helm than Trump.

Pence wouldn’t tweet, is polished and is articulate. He could get stuff done.

        He’s their boy, not Trump.

        • Adam Schmidt

Pence at this point would feel like a relief. Oh sure, he’ll work to screw over women, LGBTs, and minorities but we probably won’t end up in WWIII and he’ll work with the Republicans in Congress rather than do whatever Bannon says is a good idea.

          • another_steve

Yes. Well said, Adam. Though I’d much prefer that Trump not be removed from office. He’s the gift that keeps on giving. He could potentially destroy the Republican brand, which would be a very good thing indeed.

I do fear the possibility that he’ll initiate a nuclear war with North Korea as the ultimate diversion from Russiagate.

            That worries me.

I think it will depend upon how badly the GOP congressional candidates want to distance themselves for The Donald.

    • lymis

If Mueller has enough on Trump, or better yet Trump AND Pence, the GOP will run away like cockroaches.

The moment you start seeing some serious “He was never really a Republican” and dusting off the “He used to be friends with the Clintons” (complete with pictures), you’ll know they’re ready to throw him under every possible passing bus.

      • jerry

Same as when the minister gets caught in the sex scandal/child molestation…”He wasn’t REALLY a Christian.”

    • pkb10r

Unfortunately, it appears a sitting president cannot be indicted while still in office. A VP can be indicted (as was Spiro Agnew, Nixon’s VP), but not a president. If he resigns, however, he could be indicted–particularly by New York State. If he resigns and faces federal indictment, the next president would probably pardon him, but if he resigns and is convicted of New York State offenses, the next president cannot pardon him for those.

    • Lantor

The Trump Gang all think they understand how government works and how to pervert it to one’s own ends.

In fact, they don’t have a clue about the subject and their efforts aren’t working, but thanks to the Dunning-Kruger effect, they’re too stupid to realize that the fundamental problem is their own stupidity.

I wonder if they’ll let Ivanka wear heels in prison0?

  • Mike C

Again, its all typical of someone who has gotten away with everything and is used to skirting the law because when you’re wealthy enough (and your business is NYC real estate) you can get away with it. This is a group of people that have never been held responsibility for anything they do. They’ve never been charged with crimes (that are obvious). They routinely buy their way out of and bury lawsuits. And Trump himself has hit the bankruptcy reset button at least 4 times. This whole accountability thing is brand new to these people.

    • pch1013

      • RoFaWh

        I’ve thought exactly the same.

Perhaps the reason we never see a smile on Trump’s face except those phony ones he learned from Roy Cohn is that he’s effectively in a state of perpetual tantrum. And it shows. He does appear to have the self control not to throw himself on the floor and scream while thrashing his limbs around.

Youtube has some videos of kids tantruming so intensely I’d send them back and ask for a refund.

  • AlternativeQuacks

    Ooowheee!

This is pretty narrow. Wow! All you need is Pence and a Mnuchin to win!

    • Amanda B. Rekendwith

I think you could add “douche” to a few of those pics.

      • billbear1961

        a FEW?

        • Amanda B. Rekendwith

SO true. It’d be hard to limit it to the Top 5.

    • AmeriCanadian

      Ummm…where’s the wild card???

    • sadoldguy

I think you are gonna’ need a bigger card

      • Helen Damnation™

Prob right. I think I can add rows or sumthin. I’m just delighted that this is an actual project to goof off with. Yay us!

        • SoCalGal20

There are enough involved you can probably make a second card!

Scenario… Early next year Trump is impeached. Republicans join ranks in removing him. Pence becomes President. News and advert cycles praise the new, steady, calm Commander in Chief. Republican popularity rises (while they’re fucking over the country with legislation to enrich and empower themselves). The news cycles are dominated with “Look how well Pence is behaving. Look at what an amazing statesman he is.”
Republicans are re-elected to House by a mudslide landslide in November next year. Pence is re-elected in 2020 as the steady hand at the tiller of Good Ship America.
    Meanwhile, you’re all fucked.

    • billbear1961

Manafort wanted Pence on the ticket because of HIS Russian ties.

He’s up to his neck in this TREASON, too, tiger!

      • Halou

Trump’s instinct was to pick Chris Christie due to his craven loyalty, but in comes Manafort and in a moment Trump goes completely out of character and chooses a person he knows nothing about over a person he knows would swallow cyanide if he thought it would make Dear Donald happy.

      • NZArtist

So? That’s not part of the plan.

    • Halou

The media would behave like that because they are run by ratings chasing retards. Just look at the 9 month long “but her emails” saga and the zombified Uranium One ordeal. Praise Satan we are not wholly governed by media barons.

      • NZArtist

Yes you are. I guess you missed last year.

    • Michael White

Pence will use marriage records to round us up for his camps.

      • Gianni

A President has no such authority by himself.

    • If your scenario came to pass, everyone in the DNC, and every prominent Democrat needs to be fired/deserves to be voted out. If you can’t turn the Trump Error into electoral gold, can’t paint the whole party as corrupt, and the GOP wins in a landslide less than a year later? It would be political malpractice.

      • NZArtist

Democrats dont control the news cycle.
It’s really simple for the Republicans to paint themselves as the heroes for impeaching Trump, and installing the steady handed Pence.
You dont think 24hr news bites of Republicans congratulating themselves, and comparing Pence to Trump wont sway the electorate that Republicans are the party of responsibility?

        • Gianni

You make an excellent point. It is easy to see how if the Reps unite and impeach Donnie and he is removed by the Senate, they will be the heroes for stepping up to the plate when absolutely necessary for the good of the USA. The whole image of courage as a party would likely be unstoppable by the Dems.

          • NZArtist

            Bingo.

Thanks, but more like Heaven weeps. :p

“Steve Bannon is reported to blame Kushner…”

Well Kushner is a Jew, and Bannon a Nazi.

Trump may never see a prison, but his aides and staff will be wearing prison jumpsuits if they don;t start cooperating with investigators now. And no, Trump will not be paying for your defense.

Ok here’s my prediction…Mueller has shown himself to be not only smart but clever…they are not one and the same. Smart was getting the goods on Manafort and turning Papadopoulos. Clever was releasing the manafort indictment and holding back georgie knowing trump would run to his tweet account. Then dropping georgie right after trump did what you knew he would do making him look like a fool. The anger of events like this as we move forward will make trump even more unstable precipitating more unforced errors. Mueller, I think, has someone in his sites that will bring the house of cards down and have trump come apart. Jared will take the bullet..so he ain’t theone. Don Jr on the other hand will unravel like someone who stepped on a thread of a woven fabric. Don Jr is the one who will have to wear industrial Depends when they call him to deliver the coup de gras. Hopefully TMZ cameras are around if they raid his house.

Hillary doll, I hope you are as conniving as they say. If you are, having been secretary of state and married to a president, there has to be plenty you know. I sincerely hope you are just waiting for the most efficacious time to LET HAVE!

  • JT

Throw the motherfucker out on his big fat ass! Put him behind bars where he belongs!

” they’re making sure to leave rooms if the subject of Russia comes up.”

Scurrying like mice, are they?? The only one 45 can’t pardon is himself, so look for
some deal with pence where he’s nixonized. Of course everyone else will
probably be thrown under the bus….actually, .that’s already started….

“According to a source, advisers in the West Wing are on edge and doing whatever they can not to be ensnared. ” Sorry, it’s a little too late for that – you’re still working there.

    • KarenAtFOH

Splatter from that stuff hitting the fan.

“Bannon is also reportedly worried about a 25th Amendment revolt from Trump’s cabinet.”

It’s probably just a dream, but that is why we need to have some somewhat sane people in the cabinet. People ask “why are those people serving in Trump’s cabinet?” It’s because they realize that someone needs to grab the helm as the ship is going down. (probably not the best metaphor, but you knwo what I mean.)
