Trump Predictably Blows Fuse About New York Times Story Noting Failures To Fulfill His Campaign Promises

Here’s a bit of the story that has Hair Furor raging:

President Trump leaves little doubt about what he thinks of his predecessor’s top domestic and international legacies. The health care program enacted by President Barack Obama is “outrageous” and “absolutely destroying everything in its wake.” The nuclear deal with Iran is “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.”

Yet as much as he has set his sights on them, Mr. Trump after nearly nine months in office has not actually gotten rid of either. Instead, in the past few days, he took partial steps to undercut both initiatives and then left it to Congress to figure out what to do next. Whether either will ultimately survive in some form has become a central suspense of Mr. Trump’s first year in office.

These are not the only instances in which Mr. Trump’s expansive language has not been matched by his actions during this opening phase of his presidency. On immigration, diplomatic relations with Cuba and international accords like the North American Free Trade Agreement and a separate trade pact with South Korea, he has denounced decisions made by Mr. Obama or other previous presidents without fully reversing them.

            Well, his ratings are shitty.

He is known for cheating in his golf games. He doesn’t care about legitimately winning a game as much as he cares about the perception that he is a winner. That’s why he lies about everything. All he wants is applause.

            He’s free to resign.

He’s also free to concede the election to the actual popular vote winner (though I don’t think that would have any legal effect)

          • FAEN

            Resign, impeachment…I’ll take either.

          • (((GC)))

            People have said this before:
“Can someone please give tRump a blowjob so we can impeach him already?”

Though his executive order undermining Obamacare arguably violates the Constitution‘s clause in Article Two requiring the president to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed”.

          • FAEN

Cheeto could be filmed fucking Ivanka on the Presidential Seal and the GOP wouldn’t lift a finger. “It’s a private matter” is what they’d say.

            Their hypocrisy knows no limits.

          • (((GC)))

How about filming him having sex with (consenting! and barely) underage boys?

(Yes, that’s an unjust fucking double standard. But while it exists, we can dream about using it to our advantage…)

          • FAEN

That’s a line too far for me.

There is definitely a double standard but IMHO if we jump into the same cesspool the GOP swim in….Injuat don’t see how you come back from that.

          • Phillip in L.A.

As Wilde noted, “Life imitates art”–and not the other way ’round.

Interesting comparison, but Dawn Davenport was COGNIZANT of her status as a performer–which she unapologetically pursued–while it is unclear Mr Tramp is cognizant of anything.

          • kaydenpat

He never talks about that though. In his mind, his popularity is soaring.

          • kaydenpat

And for some reason he doesn’t notice that his approval ratings are in the tanks. Many millions more Americans hate his guts than support his erratic actions.

      • (((GC)))

Three million MORE Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than for Popular Vote Loser tRump.

And that’s not counting up to 1.1 million or more voters of color purged from the rolls by Kris Kobach’s intentionally sloppy Crosscheck “matching”.

And that’s before the White House became an adult day care center for the impulsive, mercurial Toddler-in-Chief, with staffers doing their best to distract him away from causing disasters.

Truer words have never been spoken. I keep thinking about how 30+% of our country still think he’s doing a good job. I honestly think that most of those people are judging him not by what he’s doing, but by what he’s undoing. As long as the man in the White House is pissing off liberals and undoing everything that Kenyan Socialist did, he’s right on track. They really don’t care if they lose their health insurance or start WWIII. They really don’t.

      • Richie Kau

I took me a while to get to your POV, but sad to say, I now agree with you totally. I kept hoping that Trump’s meanness and spitefulness would turn his supporters off, but now I think that is a lot of his appeal to his base.

Actually, he wants to go back further than that. He’d like to take the vote away from women.

          • Uncle Mark

Women, blacks, gays, Hispanics. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to limit voting to the gentry-class landowners only…preferrably the 1%. Awww hell, he would be happy to eliminate the whole voting process…although he does love campaigning.

          • margaretpoa

And Republicans in DC are cheering him on. Their constituents need to understand that before 2018 but I doubt they’ll care. After all, thinking is hard work and it feels good to be able to cut loose with some good old hatred. Besides, 99% of them would never do anything that might please a liberal or two.

          • BlindBill

THe GOP see the corporations and not-for profits as their constituents, Money talks to the GOP…… “voters” are only for paying taxes, since they can easily be manipulated on social media.

True, that is the direct consequences of the fucking moron action. However, I doubt his pea brain is that expansive.

      • FAEN

Absolutely! It’s based on racism, prejudice and willful ignorance. How many times have we heard “He’s getting rid of Obamacare which is socialism. I still have my ACA so I’m good”?

        • Uncle Mark

I have a racist, loyal Republican, Limbaugh-loving brother-in-law, who feels safe because my sister has the family covered under her company’s good insurance plan. I reminded him at one point, that he is very lucky to have that…especially after there was a layoff scare at her company, as his company doesn’t provide insurance, and he is in horrible health, diabetic, and obese. He was very annoyed with me for making that point…although his annoyance was more because he thought I was implying that he was not a good provider. He chose not to see that I was pointing out that he was not too far from being one of these “takers” who need the ACA.

      • Uncle Mark

As much as I am tempted to believe that the 32% approval rating comes from malevolent people, I know a certain number of them, who have chosen willful ignorance. I have found when I have confronted them, the reaction ranges from “Well, FOX never said anything about this,” and others have asked to insisted upon changing the subject when others bring the truth to them. I have had family members & friends who had supported the Orange Scourge. By now, half have dropped their support. The other half choose to remain willfully ignorant, and there are a few, clinging to their “Republicanism,” as well as their hate & racism.

        • Stephen Elliot Phillips

My trampanzee relatives now say “lets not talk about politics”
and I say “Oh no! I had to listen to your shit for 8 years. Now its my turn”

          • Uncle Mark

My birthday rolls around election week. The family always gets together to celebrate. The table is almost divided along the middle between Republicans and Democrats. Since the 2000 election campaign, there has been a general rule not to discuss politics; however often it’s the Republicans, who attempt to break those rules now & then. The end result is that they get buried alive by refuting information from the Democratic side…until they once again demand the exercise/reinstatement of the no-politics rule. (Lately, my 86 year old liberal, well-read, and very sharp mother has been flagrantly breaking that rule, as she finds this era of Trump requires regular rebuke and outrage to be expressed.)

  • vorpal 😼

Well, this is like that three year old that shits on the kitchen floor and then proudly calls his mommy in to look at “the thing he did.”

    • Dazzer

Just because you’re a cat person, you might appreciate this.

The first time my cat gave birth (she managed to give birth a further two times after being sterilised by a professional and otherwise competent vet), she was quite unprepared for the process.

I’d made her a nest in my bedroom for the birth day – so naturally ignored that and climbed into my bed and gave birth to six kittens.

She then looked up at me as if to say: “That’s the weirdest shit I’ve ever taken”.

      • vorpal 😼

LOL the way of cat, of course: “Here is a perfectly comfortable and safe spot for you to birth kittens. So of course, you will pick the most inconvenient and ridiculous spot to do it.”

Did she finally get spayed and have it stick?

        • Dazzer

Yep. It was fourth time lucky. I sort of felt sorry for the vet – he wasn’t some young incompetent. He was venerable and had an excellent reputation. He didn’t charge me for any further attempts at sterilisation, helped me place the extra kittens and willingly paid me decent compensation (I hadn’t even asked for any).

He really wanted to do a paper on her for the Royal Veterinary College because he could understand why she kept on getting pregnant (apart from the obvious reasons), but back then it would have involved a long and involved surgery while he investigated her – so I said no.

The cat – Besh – was my dearest companion in the 22 years we were together: we only spent ten days apart.

When she died, it was one of the saddest days in my life and I mourned for more than a year..

          • How odd, spaying involves removing the ovaries and uterus. That vet obviously didn’t do that.

          • Dazzer

The vet was completely confused. When I went back the second time after she’d been sterilised, he kept on saying that it was impossible. He really wanted to investigate her biology fully. But it would have been a lot of invasive surgery and I simply wasn’t going to allow that.

          • Skeptical_Inquirer

I wonder if it’s possible the cat had more ovaries than usual. If I was a vet, I’d probably pull out two and think “All done.”

          • vorpal 😼

22 years! That is incredible. I’m so glad that you two were lucky enough to have that much time together.

These furry little monsters sure do steal our hearts, don’t they?

Thanks for thinking of me and sharing your story with us. If you have any pics of Besh, I’d love it if you’d consider posting one.

          • Dazzer

Sadly, she died before I ever had a camera phone 🙁

          • vorpal 😼

Sorry to hear that, and hoping you will be able to enjoy your memories of your adventures and time together for many years.

          • Dazzer

Unlike any other president in this country’s history, he is going out of his way to deliberately damage the country simply to punish people for refusing to treat him like a GOD.

He’s making no serious attempt to govern because he has no idea HOW. He’s lashing out in a frenzy with no concern for the harm he’s going to do to MILLIONS, including CHILDREN.

No truly FREE society, with any self-respect, would tolerate this abuse.

It would see to–it would DEMAND–his removal from office!!

    • Hank

Oh to have a Parliamentary system of Government, just to be able to do it!!! A simple Vote of “No Confidence” and he would be GONE!!!

      • bzrd

with that system, he would never have been in power

    • boatboy_srq

I know you meant “arsonist” figuratively, but looking at California you have to wonder whether those fires weren’t set.

  • Rebecca Gardner

Trump doesn’t realize that all the “accomplishments” he’s listed are absolutely, irrefutably, utterly abhorrent.

    • kaydenpat

Or that none of them are legislative accomplishments. They’re just Executive Orders or reversals of Obama era policies.

    • geoffalnutt

Don’t forget: He’s doing them for Putin. He has to. It’s life or death. He owes Russia a shit-ton of money.

      • kaydenpat

“We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia,” he said of Trump Organization properties. “There’s indeed a lot of money coming for new-builds and resale reflecting a trend in the Russian economy and, of course, the weak dollar versus the ruble.”

Sen Chuck Schumer tweeted an accurate assessment of the Fucking Moron’s management style…where he doesn’t actually create or accomplish anything. All he does his rip up and destroy everything…leaving Congress to clean up or fix his mess. Drumpf *literally* “wants to watch the world burn”, and isn’t even trying to hide it.

Rethugs will do NOTHING (they will always be under their own private bubbles in a burning world). And note: SCOTUS *could* rule that Mueller—or even the State AGs—can’t indict Drumpf.

        • thatotherjean

Not yet. If Democrats take back one of the chambers of Congress, that won’t happen. If Robert Mueller gets his evidence together and some indictments issued, that won’t happen. IF enough people protest that Republicans fear losing too many seats in Congress, that won’t happen. Don’t give up just because Trump is a loudmouth.

          • CottonBlimp

If Democrats can take back the House, then they’ll be able to deliver more sternly worded speeches as they vote to approve Trump’s judges.

Sorry, in a dark mood today.

          • Cattleya1

We need the Senate – they pass off on his nominations. The House would be able to bring articles of impeachment.

      • kaydenpat

What’s totally remarkable is that every time he tweets about a particular news or TV piece he doesn’t like, he casts a worldwide spotlight on it. Millions who would never even be aware of the piece seek it out to see for themselves. The cable news networks highlight the tweets, giving them even more of an audience.

    Narcissist.

Angry he’s not been given the accolades and ego-strokes he thought would automatically come his way once Russia engineered his election to the presidency, he does what all narcissist do: Destroy everything within reach.

The list of stuff he’s actively sought to destroy is impressive: Every trade deal. Every peace agreement. Every nuclear non-proliferation agreement. Every major US alliance. Every advance in women’s, minority and LGBT civil rights for the last generation. Every step of progress in reducing America’s dependence on fossil fuels. Every bit of effort to protect the environment. The first imperfect but significant step forward to deal with the increasing 10s of millions of Americans without health insurance and everything resulting from that. All of the progress in the last eight years to reduce the federal deficit.

Every single thing Donald’s accomplished has consisted of destroying something vital entrusted to his care as President of the United States.

And he’ll keep on doing it until either he’s removed from office or there’s nothing left to destroy.

Because that’s what narcissists do. Even if given the praise and kudos for which he has an insatiable appetite, he’d still do nothing but destroy…while insisting he be thanked for doing so. Just ask the people of Puerto Rico.

CJ and I were listening to Radio-Canada this morning, the French-language CBC, and the discussion underway was how likely Dump is to destroy NAFTA. Things are looking GRIM–the Americans are making demands they know Canada and Mexico must reject; then they can blame C. and M. for scuttling the deal: “We tried, but C. and M. would not agree. It’s THEIR fault NAFTA will die.” It is the usual Trump tactic of SABOTAGE.

It will cause Canada grief if the Trump regime destroys NAFTA, but it will also deliver a considerable blow to the U.S. economy–to the thriving economy Obama handed over to the Defiler in January–particularly to many states just south of the border.

Here is an example of what’s going on in just one area:

    https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/oct/06/us-escalates-trade-dispute-with-uk-and-canada-over-bombardier-jets

Bombardier employs 22,000 in the States–those jobs will be lost if these draconian tariffs remain in place.
