Secret Service Depletes Budget To Pay Hundreds Of Agents Because Of Trump Family’s Extensive Traveling

USA Today reports:

The Secret Service can no longer pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out an expanded protective mission – in large part due to the sheer size of President Trump’s family and efforts necessary to secure their multiple residences up and down the East Coast. Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles, in an interview with USA TODAY, said more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances that were meant to last the entire year.

The agency has faced a crushing workload since the height of the contentious election season, and it has not relented in the first seven months of the administration. Agents must protect Trump – who has traveled almost every weekend to his properties in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia – and his adult children whose business trips and vacations have taken them across the country and overseas.

This is really an outrage. None of those jerks had better ever say that stupid “taxed enough already” shit to me ever again. Do they even bother with that TEA crap anymore now that they can fly swastika flags openly?

    • Nic Peterson

Makes me kind of misty eyed thinking about the scooty chair enabled set with their ironic memes. Good times!

    • Tawreos

They got the black guy out of office so why should they care about obstructing anymore.

      • boatboy_srq

Yeah. They clobbered BHO’s third term but good – wait, what?

        • FAEN

BHO’s third term. I so fucking wish!

          • Michelle should run – and we’ll have Barack back where he belongs!

          • FAEN

She will never run. After what she witnessed for 8 years she will never ever run.

      • FAEN

Well not really. He won both terms which still pisses them off. Unfortunately they’ve managed to elect the Cheeto Voldemort so now we have Nazi’s in the WH.

        • Tawreos

But remember they will probably take credit for stopping him declaring martial law so that he could stay in office forever because all the wingnut assholes out there said that was exactly what he would do.

          • FAEN

True. I heard that a lot from the right. “Any day now he’s going to declare martial law.”

          • doninkansas

Don’t you men “marshal” law? 🤣

    • Ninja0980

That stuff only matters when a Democrat is in office.

    • CanuckDon

is a taxpayer revolt the next thing? This is bloody asinine that a sector of brainwashed morons voted in this expensive “king” and now the others all have to pay for their goddamn stupidity!

If they have exhausted the budget for the year, shut the agency down until the next year. Any good businessman would tell you that is the best course of action, then cut back to the bone for the future.

    • Michael R

      Business is business

    • Tawreos

Any good businessman would, but this is Trump we are talking about.

      • FAEN

        You beat me to it.

      • olandp

        That would be my point!

Republican congress had no qualms about slashing the State Departments security budget that lead up to Benghazi, so this should be a no brainer for these brainless fools.

Perhaps Hillary could be convinced to send them an email suggesting it

Time for the secret service to outsource illegal Mexicans to protect the shit gibbon and his families.

How about just pulling the secret service and letting nature take it’s course?

    • bambinoitaliano

The way I see it. No one would give a shit about the family let alone go near them. The Secret Service is totally wasted on a bunch of white trash most would ignore.

If the money’s all gone, the money’s all gone. Dump can dip into the “re-election funds” he’s been raising since the day after the inauguration to pay for Secret Service himself and his spawn can pay for their own protection. If they’re not willing to pay for it themselves they should learn to use and carry a gun.

Burning through a year’s budget in just over half the year — prime example of big gubbmint run amuck.

Eric Prince may get a job after all. His mercenaries can become the Praetorian Guard of the The Orange Menace. He can pay them out of his own pocket or stay in the White House.

We’ll see how well those mercenaries protect him when he refuses to pay that piper.

During the campaign, the SS complained that Trump’s private security were slow and in the way when that one guy had the temerity to touch the hem of his trousers.

I mean i wonder how come all of those organizations held events there in the first place… do they just do a ton of events on several locations all over Florida and they happened to do it there?

Because for that region of the country and beyond, that’s where the millionaires play, so if you want their money you have to go there and suck up to them. When these events were most likely planned it didn’t look like he could possibly become president and incite the hatred and violence that he is.

If the “children” are on business trips, their company should pay for protection. Why should taxpayers underwrite protection for their scrawny, swindling assess while they make a buck?

    • Because they are “takers” and they are privileged and honored to take from the rest of us poor worker bees.

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

      • Ken M

Would his “kids” be getting protection if they didn’t work for him as staff? What is with this property protection BS?

        • bambinoitaliano

There should be a rule on the protection of president’s family. The one he/she is married to when elected and the children from that marriage. Anyone else that require protection will need to foot the bill privately. The party affiliated with the POTUS can pay for the extra protection at its discretion.

          • Adult children of the president should only get SS protection if they are traveling out of the country. Otherwise, they are on their own.

          • charemor

According to Politico, there are also 18 staff people who ae getting SS protection.

  • TexasBoy

    But…But…the Obama family vacations!

    • Ken M

And they even have 2 dogs! Talk about spoiled.

Still amazed that people actually believed that.

  • Tomcat

Elections have consequences, Can’t afford any more might be caused by this one.

  • BlindBill

This is a win for 45 & spawn … money for federal agents to be around 24/7 = they can return to dirty business mostly unobserved

True. No SS coverage was why DJT Jr. could meet with Veselnitskya and DT himself couldn’t without observation. Although DT would surely have had a baby monitor in the room a floor below.

Just put them on the Mar-a-Lago staff…it’s all going in Trump’s pocket anyway.

Shut down the Secret Service until Jan 1. Simple.

Well, Republicans do love to privatize things. I say they should hire those security cops you see driving around Wal-Mart and the mall to protect the First Family. Just be sure to only pay them about $10 an hour with no benefits… cause you know, privatization is the best way to go!

    • FAEN

I’m sure Cheeto has thought about hiring Eric Prince and his army.

Democrats and Blah People don’t get vacations.

Teabaggers-every damn day you prove what massive hypocrites you are.

  • sword

The GOP continuously states that if an agency runs out of money…that agency should shut down until the next fiscal year. Let Trump pay for the rest of the year. Trump has been sucking money out of his Presidency since Day One.

  • Ken M

Another “family” article with no mention of Barron. Where is this kid? Doesn’t he deserve a little societal harassment too? He is another “trump” after all.

He is a minor and cannot choose to be elsewhere, so he is off limits. That’s my take on it anyway.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

Agreed, Barron has done nothing overtly or otherwise to be deemed a fair target. He’s more like Tiffany that way, he seems either oblivious or is consciously aware and wants no part of it. That and, as has been mentioned before, he may have a social disorder or is on the autism scale. Either way, the kid can’t be blamed for who his parents are and we shouldn’t hold him up to ridicule because it.

        • Thank you!!!

        • Ken M

          Thank you for the clarification

        • Gil

That one time Trump spazz- ridiculed the reporter was only one time !!!

  • AtticusP
  • Jeffg166

They are all so well loved they don’t need protection. Let them pay for it if they’ve gone over the budget.

  • thatotherjean

I understand why taxpayers are footing the bill for protecting the President, the First Lady, and their minor son; but why are we paying for Secret Service protection for the rest of the family, who don’t live in the White House? OK, maybe Jared, when he’s traveling on government business, since his father-in-law prefers nepotism to expertise–but the whole family, wherever they go, for whatever purposes? The President is supposed to be at least separated from his business interests, so why are we paying for his sons to go on business trips?

  • Jerry Kott

I guess they will have to be shut-ins until they can scrap up some cash. Or let them foot the bill .

  • Frostbite

Why not just have them file for bankruptcy, I’m sure 45 can show them how.

  • Ken M

Let them buy their own eclipse glasses : )

  • M Jackson

Send the agents home. Let the Kleptocracy provide its own security since they’re not doing the job of serving the american people.

  • Talisman

Let the dumpster pay for security out of his own pocket. Or he should remain in the White House until such time as the SS is funded.

  • Ken M

Hell of an excuse for a Govt shutdown.

  • Hank

Usay, Qusay, Jared and Ivanka should pay for their OWN protection!!!

  • Rebecca Gardner

The winning! So much fucking winning!

  • The_Wretched

If only there was family of billionaires who could pay for their own security…

  • SilasMarner

Stop protecting everyone but the orange one and his bitch. If someone goes after the others, well that’s their problem not ours. Let the orange one pay to protect them.

  • rednekokie

Only the president and his wife are due protection by the Secret Service. All the rest , who are indeed adults and not dependent children, are free-loaders, and should pay for their own protection AND transportation.

    • Halou

But how else will the Trump klan, billionaires that they say they are, get any money if not by cheating the American taxpayers? Every time any of them go anywhere huge sums of money end up going straight into the Trump family bank accounts.

      • rednekokie

This is true, and the reason for my comment. But it is illegal, and not only that, but unconstitutional. The emoluments clause pertains to robbing the treasury as well as gain from foreign persons or governments.

    • What are the rules for protection for a presidential family?

  • Pip

Not sure how their budgets work, but when departments run out of budget at my company work comes to a halt. Perhaps that’s how they should treat this?

  • Halou

They can tell Trump that the Secret Service will not tolerate such abusive overuse of their personnel and resources, that they will only provide so many manpower hours to him and his family throughout the year. Once he hits that cap he and his mafia clan are on their own.

    • Melanie and Barron in Trump Tower – broke the budget. How much did Barron’s education cost tax payers?

      • Halou

I think several million dollars were wasted in New York alone after Trump insisted the Secret Service take up only the finest and most luxurious rooms in the building.

        • RoFaWh

Which the SS has now vacated.

  • Friday

Trumps “Love spending other people’s money.”

  • kareemachan

Hey, he’s the bigliest billionaire ever – he can pay for himself.

  • boobert

The biggest problem is how much of the cost goes into chumps pockets ! People should be outraged. The secret service has to pay chump properties for accommodations for the agents.

    • RoFaWh

The SS recently moved out of Drumpf Dowerf.

  • JWC

Simple. Pay for the president and not the freeloading family

  • -M-

Easy solution, everyone who’s hit their salary cap should take the rest of the year off.

  • Bob Conti

You know what happens when my office’s conference attendance budget hits zero before year’s end (that hasn’t happened yet because we know how to read budgets and make smart moves about spending money, but still…)? NO MORE OUT OF TOWN CONFERENCES!

He needs to understand that that government is not run like a closely-held corporation, not that he is all that good at running the latter.

  • Mark_in_MN

Secret service protection for a sitting president should be limited to the president, the president’s spouse, and any minor children. Adult children of the president should not have secret service protection, even when the president is in office. And perhaps it’s time to reconsider the level of protection when the president is away from the White House.

    • RoFaWh

The crazy old fascist is, iirc, the oldest person ever elected President. The difficulty with the President having adult children has rarely risen before.

  • Nowhereman

Isn’t it refreshing to have those fiscally conservative republicans in charge of our purse strings? Boy howdy, we are saving a pile of money on THIS president after the Obama’s extensive vacationing and golfing! And soon the GOP congress will shut down the government and default on our debt again, saving us even more on increased interest rates and a lowered credit rating! (snark if it’s not obvious)

  • And yet Sessions has no qualms about cutting off law enforcement funding from Sanctuary Cities that do not bow to his deportation scheme. Threats and outright extortion from 45’s administration. I say, the Secret Service should all walk off the job rather than work for nothing. It couldn’t hurt.

  • andrew

The billionaire Trumps should be told to pay up or forgo protection. Either way I think that is a reasonable solution.

  • Rick Zajac

If those assholes want SS protection then they can damn well pay for it…..unless they can’t afford it. Hmmmm………….

  • RoFaWh

Will this result in the SS telling the crazy old fascist that since they’ve run out of money, the entire family will have to stay indoors at the White House if they want to be guarded?

  • Ore Carmi

He can’t properly take care of the people protecting him? He doesn’t even know how to be an effective dictator. One way or another, this is sure to end well /s
