SNL Riffs On MSNBC’s Morning Joe [VIDEO]

The Washington Post recaps:

“Saturday Night Live” took a break from a cold open focused entirely on President Trump — and instead poked fun at “Morning Joe,” with Kate McKinnon playing Mika Brzezinski and Alex Moffat as Joe Scarborough.

In the sketch, the pair launch into “the most casual of political conversations” about House Republicans’ recent passage of the GOP health-care bill. But they can barely finish a few sentences without getting distracted by their awkward sexual tension — to the horror of their in-studio guests.

Of course, it wasn’t an entirely Trump-free cold open. Midway through the sketch, McKinnon-as-Brzezinski introduces the next guest, and it’s a “publicist named John Miller live from the White House.”

  • FAEN

    ‘Mike Barnacles’ expression is priceless.

  • Dramphooey
  • Gustav2

The guy playing Scarborough should be white Christian mansplaining in a bellowing voice.

  • ccc

As I wrote before when thinking about the two of having sex, creepy and ewww…

    • RoverSerton

Probably not real conventional. Both tied up and both blindfolded and video with the lens cap on. Memorable? YOU BET!

    • Ginger Snap

I bet Joe loves a good pegging.

  • CanuckDon

Kate McKinnon played Mika to a tee…the fawning, liberal-lite lapdog to her loud-mouthed boyfriend.

    • Steven B

      Loud mouthed fiancé.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

I would like Joe and Meeeeka to go away, forever.

  • Do Something Nice

    That was classic!

  • The SNL broadcast was boring until Chris Pine starting singing and dancing. I wish he would have taken his shirt off though.

  • The Professor

Mika is living proof that nepotism is alive and well in America. (Oh, and the Trumps.)

  • Ninja0980

I look forward to the marriage crashing and burning and with it, their show.

    • Lantor

One can dare to dream…but, I’m sure you heard, he’s a former rep from the Congress from the 90s, so he has the pulse of Washington. Maybe you don’t know that. It would be absurd if he announced it every freaking day….

  • Rocco

Hard to watch…they are dreadful people. Kate McKinnon did a great job, but the vile nature of Joe Scarborough is nearly impossible to capture. Ugh…

    • Ninja0980

He was part of the Republican Revolution in 94 and helped pave the way for someone like Trump to become President.
Awful human being with an awful show.

  • BearEyes

wonder if they’ll settle into the James Carville / Mary Madlin schtick over time….
….. if they last that long

  • Cucker “Dick” Tarlson

Watching them is like taking your dog for a walk and realizing you left the poop bags in your other coat, the very second she squats and lays a gigantic steamer: shame, revulsion, frustration, and immediate regret.

    • Xiao Ai: The Social Gadfly

Not if you high-tail it outta there!

      • Nax

        …and your neighbor’s watching.

  • ColdCountry

I’ve never seen the show, and I know this is parody, but his condescending attitude made me want to spit nails. Couldn’t finish it.

    • EweTaw

You need to wake up and pee about 5:00 am just to watch it for a minute or two. Joe Scarborough is exactly as condescending, even more so, as the spoof characterization. Oddest excuse for a news show I’ve ever seen.

      • ColdCountry

I do tend to wake up at five to pee, but I don’t have a tv, so I guess I’ll have to miss having one more ass in my life. 🙂

      • JCF

        Or just be a Night Owl on the West Coast {raises hand}

  • Carl

The mix of self importance and stupidity makes their show unwatchable. I don’t get the appeal at all.

    • Lantor

Well, in case you didn’t know, he was a congressman back in the 90s. He’s very in the know. And her dad was part of the Carter administration. They deserve the 3 hours of the morning they have. They are very important “gets.”

    • Nax

If I cared I’d check to see what the ratings are. I can’t imagine they’re very good. I think it’s one of those shows that everyone knows about, but no on really bothers to watch. Or I hope it is.

  • EweTaw

I was genuinely amused by the Weekend Update segment introducing their new Weather girl. The non speak blabber of that character was spot on.

  • Mike_in_the_Tundra

Kate McKinnon’s performance freaked me out. I figured it had to be her, but she sure didn’t look like herself. It didn’t sound like her either.

    • HZ81

She really nailed it. Sadly, her co-star did not even come close.

Although, I would totally let him do things to me. Comic nerds are so dreamy.

  • Marti386

McKinnon can nibble on my nose any day of the week.

  • isthisdavid

The only funny sketch in the whole show if you ask me, and even it wasn’t *that* great.

  • Mike

I’ve only seen Morning Joe for a few seconds now and then. for as long as it takes me to dive for the remote, and based on what I’ve seen, this parody was perfect. Kate McKinnon can do anything.
